- In this segment from NPT's MEMORIES OF DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE, Nashville resident historians reminisce and explain the significance of some of the city's most glorious hotels -- among them the Maxwell House, the Hermitage and the Union Station Hotel -- many of which are still standing.
I was living in Nashville when the Maxwell Hotel burned. It was a sad loss. Radio station WMAK did a broadcast from the hole in the ground that was left after the wreckage of the building was removed. I understand there were tunnels discovered that ran from the Maxwell House Hotel to the river banks during the clean up.
Who is the lady speaking at the 0:20 second mark? Later in the film, she is talking about historic preservation.

The Capitol Grille was so good and our room was just Great!
