    01:01 Requirum Mass in D minor K. 626 III. Sequence - Lacrymosa
A dedicated musician to the end, Mozart continued to compose even on his deathbed. Mozart died in December 1791, leaving his last work only half-complete. In an eerie coincidence, Mozart’s final composition was a Requiem Mass: a religious composition for the dead. A student and close friend of Mozart, Franz Xaver Süssmayr, finished the Requiem on Mozart’s behalf, likely with input from other peers. The deeply emotional and complex work is a fitting swan song for the masterful composer, and its unfinished nature is a monument to Mozart’s drive. In 2002, Mozart’s Requiem earned further meaning when it was given a 24-hour-long performance to commemorate the one year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack.
