They’re building like 7 Whataburgers here in the Upstate. I’m excited there’ll be one down the street from my house 🥳. I fell in love with that place when I lived in Shreveport 🤤
I grew up in Texas and moved to Columbia, SC in 2016. The fact that we just recently got a Buccees in Florence and now we're getting a Whataburger in Columbia amongst other cities is amazing.
@@humptyshots6177 in this specific case, yes. But in general, the acronym PDW does stand for Pretty Damn Quick, and this use has been around much longer than People Dedicated to Quality. It's a synonym for ASAP (As Soon As Possible). So I guess you could say PDQ stands for both now, lol. But I'm pretty sure, given the fact that PDQ was/is a fast food restaurant (or maybe fast-casual), AKA a quick service restaurant, the PDQ in the name is tongue-in-cheek. It might officially, in their particular business, stand for People Dedicated to Quality. But they knew exactly what they were doing. I am certain of that, LOL.
We were suppose to have two of them open here in Augusta GA, but there were some issues with how they were built (they were nearly open) and never opened. One is now a Slim Chickens joint and the other is an Echo Park Automotive place. They had a small one open for a very short time in a Walmart here, but within six months it seemed to close like all the other food places in our Walmart's. Some of the PDQ locations were franchised with help from Tim Tebow and Vinny Testaverde. Not sure if the ones here were, but they have a small handful that they set up.
Columbia Resident Here - I lived down from that PDQ a few years back and only went once. It was just too expensive for what it is. Zaxby’s is way cheaper and the quality is on par between the two.
Found this on the internet: PDQ and Whataburger (Texas-based chain) entered a deal together to change some of PDQs restaurants to Whataburgers so that they can enter the East coast market. Similar to what happened with Zoe’s and Cava
Cool find Wallie I have never eaten at one I wish they had more of these cool chain restaurants out here in the Southwest We do have Fuddruckers in Albuquerque I tried it for the first time last year
Wallieb26 I heard that PDQ is a name for a car wash system. I didn't know that PDQ was a restaurant chain I thought that it was a car wash system name.
Looks almost exactly like the Sicklerville, NJ location I covered on my channel. I guess they have some sort of kit that they put up that looks the same wherever they build it.
That's a great building too bad PDQ closed , we have a lot of Whataburger's here in K.C. .... I believe that you can get breakfast all day today if you choose we also have some Wahlburgers here in Kansas City as well.
I've heard of PDQ, that's about it... I think they do chicken? I don't know. Haven't watched the whole video yet, still watching. Interesting to see one abandoned, and that building is huge! EDIT: I always want to say "glass" instead of "grass" LOL
I live right down the street from this place. Surprised it closed but the prices were high. I use that Food Lion right behind you all the time. That is the Gamecock logo. You've got that PA accent. I assume you're from PA too?
I used to live about 10 mins away from it until i moved across town. I believe i read online that PDQ and Whataburger came to a deal to close down several East Coast locations and convert them to Whataburgers
Currently living ve in Columbia city is a dump now it used to be nice now it's run down people begging for money high rent taxes and nothing for the residents you can't blame people for leaving
It seems like they tried to expand way too fast, and a bunch of the locations opened and closed inside just a couple of years. It's too bad, because my experiences eating there were quite good. The food seemed like it was of good quality.
It smelled horrible in there because me and my boyfriend went in there for a doordash order and they were slow. I live about 2 miles from that location
Never heard of a PDQ what in the world?? Looks like a nice place inside But i love chicken so man i wish i could have tried this out if there was one close to me
Yes Whattaburger is coming to my area of Greenville, SC. I can't wait to visit when they open.
Awesome wallie. What a find. Thanks for sharing
watching from the Netherlands, amazes me The USA has so many different franchises.
As someone in the US who occasionally watches videos about Netherlands, it's kinda crazy how different things are there compared to the US.

No Joke PDQ Stands For Pretty Damn Quick
People Dedicated to Quality=PDQ it's right on there website lol
Your right the word PDQ means a very not nice word to say or it can mean a restaurant chain name or a car wash system name
@@bridgetraveler7700 eh, I wouldn't call "damn" a very not nice word. I mean, it's crude. But I can think of much worse words.
Lol that's a good one. But sorry it actually stands for People Dedicated to Quality. 😊

Amazing video wallie me and my fiance love you and last weekend I got a chance to stop by a buc-ee's I've never been to one it was amazing 😊
Awesome Wall
Can’t wait to see the car 🚗 see you really close 65 k
Another good video! What a find! Nice!
this was in my hometown i used to love them! Tenders with the honey bbq sauce was the best
Nice looking building. Clean. It'd be a shame to take that down just to spend time and money to put up something new. Fresh paint will brighten it up.
An Old Blue Roof Burger King Used To Be There Before PDQ Opened
yes you were
back in the 70s 80s it was a A&W

Wow 👏 awesome video
An awesome video, Wallie! 👍👍👍👍
Awesome to see you back in my state
Rumor has it that our PDQ that closed in Hickory, NC is also becoming a Whataburger!
PDQ Abandoned Place wow what did you find at cause never heard of this place before that's some new for me.

Nice I live very close to there
Awesome video buddy thanks for sharing this video for us.
@WallieB26 You're Right, The Logo You Saw Is The Mascot Of USC, A Gamecock. named After Thomas Sumter (Also Named After Sumter County)

According to Advance Auto Parts, PDQ is Parts Delivered Quick.
It was nice. I live about two miles from this location. Ate there many times.
I've ate at this PDQ 3 or 4 times. It was decent. There's a Whataburger about to open between Irmo and Ballentine.
Whattaburger is going to be open in Irmo, SC!
I looked it up. It stands for People Dedicated to Quality.
I've heard of PDQ, that's about it... I think they do chicken? I don't know. Haven't watched the whole video yet, still watching. Interesting to see one abandoned, and that building is huge! EDIT: I always want to say "glass" instead of "grass" LOL

There is a water burger in west columbia south carolina
No matter what happens to that gas station or if it is renovated into something else, in sc it was once the pdq and will always be the pdq.
Dang I used to come here all the time liked the food
wallie here in Raleigh nc I really can’t wait for watabuger to come here and the gas price is $3.01 no joke
If they remove the painting from that wall, it would be so sad
Currently living ve in Columbia city is a dump now it used to be nice now it's run down people begging for money high rent taxes and nothing for the residents you can't blame people for leaving
Couldn't agree with you more. I myself will more than likely be leaving by next Spring
That’s the logo for the UofSC Gamecocks ❤🖤🤍❤️🖤🤍
That place is clean
Can you visit the abandoned hhgregg in Fort Lauderdale FL?
Always tough to play South Carolina Gamecocks in football !
3:38 go gamecocks
And what in the hel is up with this weather here it feels like winter is comin around again cold as hel here its like in the lower 50's here today
He should do a revisit if the Walmart he did last year in Columbia (if it's still abandoned that is)
If it was the Neighborhood Market it is indeed still closed
@@PsychoC4rnivore yep
theres a whataburger almost done like 10 ish miles from there
As for the bugs they couldn't get their chicken fix, so they had to go something better, "YOU"! 😅

PDQ PRETTY DARN QUICK? lol This is actually down the rd from me...
PDQ >> pretty damn quick.
I think PDQ use to be short hand for (pretty damn quick) 😂
Nah bro you’re wrong. PDQ is better than bojangles and zaxbys. I had memories here. Thanks for checking it out though.
That’s Tim Tebow restaurant
Wallie, you are getting a new car? what about the B friend?
I'm keeping the Bee Friend. Got a car that I got on a fantastic deal that will ultimately be the successor to the Bee if/when that time comes.
@@WallieB26 oh okay, the b friend has been good to you
Come to lizards thicket
one day when you get a chance to should visit NC
Had a chain of PDQ hamburger chain in Ohio in the 60's. Pretty Darn Quick.
PDQ "Permanently Disqualified"
People dedicated to quality (PDQ)
So that's what happened to my cell cord
Lol!
On Google maps they show the building in the process of closing down
Are you keeping the B Friend Car also ?????? @WallieB26
Of course I am!
@@WallieB26 , ok thanks
