i had the privilege of working stage crew for this show at Wembley Arena, the atmosphere of this song in person was unbelievable , also nice to see the video walls i built worked lol
Nice one! And thank you to you and all people who have worked or will work as stage and tech crew. You are the foundations of a show and without you lot, there would be no gigs like this.
Thank you for the part that you played in putting this show. Tuomas is a genius in the composition, Floor is a Valkyrie Goddess singing, the band plays amazingly, and with the support of people like you who worked on keeping things running, the result was stunning. Feel proud that you contributed to it.
Are the pyro guys a bit different blokes? I guess Nightwish brings their own pyro team with them - or how were the tasks divided? You don't have to reveal the trade secrets, but if you can give us a rough general view. I sometimes helped a friend of mine who was mixing the sound in some small gigs, very humble setting. And I was mainly pulling the chords, lifting the amps and collecting the gear after the show - but gave me some impression what happens on that side of the curtain. The magnitude of that setting is of course different when we start to speak of these kind of shows which are like a movie crew entering the satge.
Tuomas is literally the most cinematic musician that I've ever heard. He could and maybe should have his pieces as full on film soundtracks. What an extraordinarily talented man he is
I'm a 30 year old man and I swear to God I cry every time I hear part V of this song. No person should be able to control another's emotions like Floor does. It's surreal.
I'm 51 and have been to a lot of concerts and watched a lot of movies and still, Floor and Nightwish are touching me like no one else has ever before. Sooooo powerful is their art. Just divine.
I used to watch youtube of live performances with my dad back pre 2010. In fact he showed me his honest love for nightwish. I lost him 10 years ago and I never could share this deep connection with someone else with nightwish. Thats why I love watching reacting people to this performances. I hope whereever he is, he can see this. I always forget about the last section of the song, because it moves me so deeply. Thanks for sharing your emotion, I did cry too. He always said: "Good music is something you can cry and laugh to!" I never new exactly what It meant back than. I now understand!
I am a grown man of 55 and floor brings out so many emotions in me and never fails to bring me to tears from the sheer beauty of her voice. A singer like her only happens once every 1,000 years.
Holy wow. I feel like they should have a warning to keep all limbs inside the ride at all times. I got the goosebumps, the tummy tingles and the emotional turmoil from some simply stellar storytelling. Let me know how you found it! P.s the lyrical content got dark at times, this personally didn't bother me because I felt the way they introduced and explored those themes were within the dimension of the music around the lyric. Again, brilliant composition/arrangement.
Your facial expressions and body language were just as captivating to watch as the video you are reacting to, if you dont mind me saying so. (Hello from Louisiana).
The lyrics are dark because this song was written by Tuomas after their split with the original vocalist, Tarja Turunen, and the backlash Tuomas received for that, which was really huge. This song is about him commiting suicide. He said he wrote this to avoid depression and to save his mental health
Dead boy’s poem ( the live performance at Buenos Aires 2018) is the one you must listen to next..this is not a reaction request...consider it a small present that you can enjoy listening to as a token of appreciation to this lovely reaction...stay safe
I also need to reinforce the "Shallow" from Beste Zangers recommendation. She's doing it very softly, with amazing control and as usual she's so good at bringing out the emotions without overdoing it.
It's not just Floor who is so exceptional in this band. Every single one of them is pure class at what they do and Tuomas is pure genius for writing and arranging all this.
They seem to all bond together very well. It's almost like they are part of a family on stage. Everything I've heard from Nightwish has been live and not once was there a bad performance. They really are that and I have yet to hear anything from their studio albums
This is true but there's no denying to Tuomas being a brilliant poet and songwriter and Floor being a world-class singer. No offense to Emppu, but his work is nothing any decent guitarist couldn't do.
@@MarcXL81 For regular reactors, yes. Agree with you. Vocals coaches/musicians take a different approach and are able to enjoy and appreciate such a masterpiece.
I really love how the vocal coaches/singers still get mesmerized, excited and are in awe with Floor's singing when they react to Nightwish. It's very contagious.
To give you a bit of background, Tuomas (the keyboardist and composer of all Nightwish Songs and Music) wrote this song after making the hard decision to fire Tarja (the original voacalist) from the band. He was so emotional about the whole situation that he had to kill himself in the song so he wouldn't do it in real life. The part where they kid vocals say "now I only have three minutes and counting" is the countdown for when Tuomas 'slices his neck' exactly three minutes after. It's an absolute emotional masterpiece.
The support the band show him, eye contact and nearness, during the song reflects the incredible emotional angst in this composition. Literally a song which explores pain and metaphorical suicide, incredible on all fronts.
I remember reading somewhere else that parts from mother and father were actually conversations tuomas had with his parents not sure how true it is though
@@IvysPoison1987 It is based on that, yes, Tuomas has confirmed it at some point. He turned to his parents for support and they, of course, did, as well as tell him that "the blade will keep decending", aka, there will always be problems in life/these things happen/you are not alone/etc and you will be alright.
he did not become all emotional and moody until the fans , industry and critics came down hard on him for trashing Tarja publicly....always the martyr, never a good decision maker
It's such an emotional time of Tuomas's life that he said he sometimes has to mute the vocals in his in-ears while perfoming it live or he will just have a meltdown.
I applaud you for your patience in analysing this song considering this is only your second Nightwish song and it's one of their complex ones. Respect sistah ❤
When I first heard this live performance, I cried at both part 3 and part 5 without even knowing why. The emotion, esspecially in part 3 was just oozing off of the whole performance. I even think I heard Floors voice hitch a tiny bit due to emotion in there. At around 'The ever free' lyric. At the whole 'Tuck me in-' and then those 3 sentences, that's where I started crying.. I looked up the background afterwards and was even more impressed that the emotion of such a heavy song for the band was conveyed exactly like that. After knowing the background, I started noticing stuff more. Like Floor watching Tuomas a couple of times, how Emmpu came to check on him somewhere in the beginning of the song, how his bandmates were all standing by Tuomas' side towards the end, Floor watching him again around that same time and also watched him first after she finished singing instead of the audience. Not to mention the emotion in her 'Thank you' at the very end..
Well spotted, it was a young lad singing at the start and doing the voice over in the middle. You should listen to Marko singing “The Islander”, live from Tampere to get a good idea of his singing abilities.
Thought so! She almost had me bamboozled but alas the free voice of a child and that of an adult create different timbres even if they're sung in the same style.
The poetry starts with the first sung words "the end" and the last words "the beginning". Giving idea to the end of the darkness and pain and the death of the dark person inside toumas, and the beginning is the beginning of a new chapter and life, and thoughts. The most intense part of this song is actually hidden in the few seconds of darkness after the pendulum falls. This is an indication of not the death of toumas, but the death of the darkness in him. Man this is the GREATEST band of all time. Most talented musicians ever. Some might crucify me for it, but who is with me?
as Tyler wrote below, this piece was written by Tuomas to deal with the split up from her first vocalist and his life time friend Tarja Turunen. Originally it was sung by Nightwish's 2nd vocalist Anette Olzon. In this original version all high parts have been sung by a boy. When Floor joined and they decided to add this sometimes to their setlist again, they decided she could do those parts as well except that first part, which remained the original track. I very much appreciated that you also recognised the extraordinary songwriting of Tuomas and Floor's personality which you described just perfect. Great Reaction. many thanks
@@EricManktelow I heard he wanted to keep the first part simply to keep the stage empty, since none of the band members are on stage at that point and it wouldn't make a lot of sense visually to bring Floor out. Not sure if that's a fact or a guess though.
@@BadGirlFan I was thinking along the same lines when trying to understand the reasoning behind it - it is also my guess only, but it very much makes sense.
Great reaction, believe me, even after 30 songs she will still surprise you... Can't wait to see so many songs... It's just the beginning... Wanna fun? I want my tears back from Buenos Aires... She and 20000 people dancing the whole music... Wanna opera? Shoemaker is unbelievable... Variety? Beste zengers presentations (4 languages and 6 song styles)... All Wacken 2013 performances are unforgetable... And for the last, the cherry on top - Greatest Show on Earth - The name says everything, last song of the concert with 25 minutes of pure magic... Yes, a song with 25 minutes after 2 hours singing... P.s.: For Marco vocals listen to Islander, just a guitar, him and an entire arena...
This was a super - no, superb reaction of this masterpiece. And it's actually deeper when you listen to it again. In the speaking saying I have only 3 minutes and counting - and until he cuts his throat, exactly 3 minutes. And if you listen carefully, you can hear heatbeat in the background that stops. Talk about details!! And you are spot on with Floor and Nightwish - Nightwish are 6 people and they all shines on stage - this will be even more clear when you dive further into the magic of the Nightwish world. In the last part, it is Marco singing higher and lower as a background to Floor - Marco is a brilliant singer - brilliant. And they have actually a third singer as well, Troy, with a super soft voice. For now you should react to The Greatest Show on Earth, Tampere 2016 - which is the third of the 3 epic composition from Nightwish, and many (including me), consider this to be the best..!! DO please stay on it after the music stop, right to the end - the speaking is a very important part of the song /show (speaker is Richard Darking, the Scientist). And next reaction - The Islander, Tampere 2016 - Marco lead singer And then - either The Carpenter, Buenos Aires 2018 or Harvest from their new studio album - here is Troy the lead singer. And again - you are a completely talented and awesome reactor 👍👍👍🤘🤘🤘👌💪 Just keep them coming 🤘 🤘 Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰
Before I say this, I just want to commend you very highly on your english - your sentence structure is wonderful, especially for (I'm assuming here, forgive me if I'm wrong) a non-native speaker. The very slight correction I feel like I have to add is that the scientist's name is Richard DAWKINS.
I’ve become convinced that Emppu and Marco have to go stand beside their friend because Floor has added more emotion than he ever foresaw with Annette, and they just need to make sure he is OK!
This has been confirmed by the band. They do it every time it is performed live. Tuomas has said in interviews performing this song is incredibly painful for him though it has got easier over the years.
its hard to breathe listening to this .. breath taking .. the story is about the heartbreak of Tuomas over Tarja .. 'there is no good guy .. there is no bad guy .. there's only you and me . .and we just disagree' .. beautiful reaction Julia ... love this very much ..
Another epic cinematic event is Greatest Show on Earth live from Tampere when they played back home. Whenever you see Floor spinning her hair, they’ve called that the Dutch Windmill because she’s Dutch. Also any of the songs from the Wacken 2013 live concert are great and just as good of not better than studio especially with 82k screaming fans! I love your Nightwish reactions and how you know where to pause or limit that and place comments above the video so you enjoy it like us, keep up the great work and get better!
She is Dutch from the Southern province of Noord Brabant her accent is less harsh then that of the Northern provinces like Noord Holland and Zuid Holland...So Dutch windmill...😁
As someone else mentioned, I don't get tired of hearing new listeners react to Floor and Nightwish. It has been years since I have really had a song (or band ultimately) touch me like Nightwish does. Get choked up every time I hear her.
Marco is a freaking awesome vocalist in his own right. People here are going to recommend "The Islander" and so on 100%. However I think "Kiss While Your Lips Are Still Red" isn't recommended enough under Nightwish reactions. Kinda feels underrepresented and I don't know why that is. It's probably my favorite "Marco piece" of Nightwish.
I discovered Nightwish about the same time that you did two years ago. I started with Shoemaker and then Ghost Love Score and I was hooked. I have watched hundreds of tracks of Nightwish and reactors since then. I just watched your first then two reactions to Nightwish from two years ago. It’s good to remember that first introduction to Nightwish. Thank you for all your great reactions please continue! Just as an aside, I am now 74 and never liked metal before hearing Nightwish. Now I am an addict:-)
People have already told about what the song is about, so when guitarists (Marco & Emppu) come near to Tuomas at the end of the song to show their support for him becomes meaningful and touches me deeply every time i watch this performance. Then Floor sings the last part and i cant ever see her because of tears.
That part just gives me such warm and deep care vibe with vibe just being a poor choice of words here. It's so outstandingly heartful. Tuomas is outwordly. The fact that the song itself is already a masterpiece, how good the members are at what they do individually and how amazing Floor's voice fits this band... so many layers of just so much and then they top of it with that gesture. Insane.
Great reaction, thank you! Really love how you get into the music. What I really love about Nightwish is the lack of egos on stage. They all do their part exactly how the song requires. The composition first, everything else supporting that. Floor understands the song, feels the song, and delivers that emotion to us listeners. She could belt higher, go into full operatic, she has the abilities to do so. Instead she chooses to make us live and feel the song. It's like she knows how to make someone cry, or scared, or mournful, or happy just with her voice. Same goes for all the other band members. They are willing to go out there, take no glory, but deliver the best possible performance, showing restraint where needed instead of getting bigger and louder. This is why us Nightwish fans have such strong emotional connection to this band. It is sincere and doesn't feel like an act or ego-boosting. That being said, you still haven't seen all Floor has to offer. For something completely different I recommend "Yours is an Empty Hope" live at Wembley (listen carefully, you'll know why, yes you can hear Floor at all times) and "Romanticide" from Wacken 2013. If you do those, you'll hear a bit more of the bassist Marko, who is also an accomplished vocalist. If you want a solo performance from him, I recommend "The Islander" from Tampere.
If you want to hear marco’s range try the nightwish cover of phantom of the opera. His range will floor you. 😉 it also has the original vocalist tarja.
awesome performance.. sometime i feel myself forgetting that theres a band on stage, a drummer working his ,,,off, , who know how long they spent stirring all these ingredients!
That is what I love about Nightwish, they are a unit, all together. You don't just go to a Nightwish concert... you experience Nightwish. You are taken from the physical world for 2 hours and transported to another place. Great analysis!
For your second Nightwish song that was just about the best reaction/analysis I have seen. Great job all around. Your concluding analysis however had me jumping up and down shouting, finally, someone gets it! I have sat through untold vocal coach/ singer reactions and while they swoon over her techniques, not one “gets it”. Floor has had extensive training and while not self taught she is very much self directed. Over time she has developed a huge toy box of style and technique that rivals any of the other singers that the professionals use has their warhorses. The thing that makes her next level, that no one seems to notice is how humble she is. Along with the rest of the band she is there to to serve the music first and last. From any of them if it is not needed to present the story, emotion or enhance the fan experience it is just left out. It is one of the many reasons that Nightwish is so unique and puts her above the rest of the many talented vocalists working today.
Floor is about the music, and the emotional content, not about the devotion of the audience to her technical ability, which she appreciates in a humble way. Just saying.
While waiting for your next reaction I have now watched through every single reaction video on your channel, some of them several times. I must say, I am in love with your reactions. They are so genuine! Please, please, PLEASE don't change and try to be an audience pleaser. Be you, be genuine and stay awesome! I also LOVE the caption parts in your videos!
The one thing you will surely learn by listening to this band more is, they have absolutely no egos, they do what the music/song calls for, no care for belting, vocal runs, technical solos, etc. if it does not add or fit with the intention of the piece. If you like cinematic score style, I would suggest Dead Boy's Poem at Buenos Aires 2018 and of course the 20+ minutes monster that is The Greatest Show on Earth at Tampere 2015.
wow..Tuomas and Marco are the epitome of ego-centricity and they have proven it time after time..in this song alone....Tuomas is presenting himself as a selfless martyr when in fact he is the one who was full of resentment, anger and jealous at anyone who dares to question his authority
People usually comment on how amazing Marco is (which is amazing) and they occasionally mention how its great how he is able to sing and play bass at the same time, however what amazes me in this song is that it is not an easy bass line during the 4th section to be playing under his vocals. Its not like he is strumming the tonic of the chords. That's a moving line and he doesn't miss a note. hats off to him :)
@@Tahatrolli it's so sad that Marko left the band especially after losing Jukka a couple years ago and it makes me concerned about the bands future. Hopefully they can keep it together because with Floor now fronting for almost a decade I truly believe that they are on the cusp of REALLY exploding worldwide. Clearly they are already known worldwide but I had never heard of Nightwish a year ago and I'm 39 and have listened to a lot of music in my life. I will 100% see them live if they come within 1000 miles of me lol
@@menwithven8114 I've known of them for maybe 15 years, my son was into them then... sadly I didn't pay enough attention at the time... time to remedy that :-)
Another beautiful and personal reaction. Yes all those emotions come through for me also and it doesn't matter how many times I've watched and listened to any of the songs I still get them. I so looked forward to another reaction from you after Ghost Love Score and it was worth the wait. Thank You Julia, and once again I will look forward to the next one. I'm sure it's been recommended to react to The Greatest Show on Earth. There are so many more that are just waiting for you to react to. Enjoy the ride.
@@jvoxfox Floor is as she made you feel, she is a beautiful woman inside and out, She really connects to songs when she is singing them, rather its a sad, clever, angry, magical, happy, personal, a song with a greater vision.. she really loves music and is still humble even though she knows she is good at her instrument, she admits and says it often that she is lucky to have been born with the vocals she has but, always pushes herself and practice practice practice, even so. She connects real well with the members of the band, the current members all seem to connect well with each other and Tuomas's compositions/lyrics. Floor as well has been connecting with fans during covid, they finally got her to sing a line of "how's the heart" live on stream just last week lol.
I have seen this band 4 times live (with Floor handling the vocals), and equally amazed and equally left in awe every single time. I have to admit, I think the reason I watch these videos, is that it is nice to see others sharing a common passion (there are not many Texans that listen to symphonic metal, especially at my age). but I will say that you hit the nail on the head as to why (in my opinion) Floor is the best fit for this band of those who have held the position: she is so comfortable letting the music be the center of attention.
Great review again, but OMG you are going to enjoy so much all of Floor's performances at "Beste Zangers" Can't wait for your reactions, you'll love it
Life itself is THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH. I can tell you that that Nightwish song is at a higher level of story telling since it's actually talking about evolution. Please react to the "live at Tampere" version and hold tight because is a hell of a ride!
just found this video and i really gotta say respect for really trying to be professional when one can clearly see, that the music and lyrics are really getting to you 👍
You are a gem! The adoration on you face is a joy to watch. Not only in this reaction but others, such as Yebba's My Mind , Diana (really long Russian name) and her contralto. I love your analysis and how taken you are by the music you engage in. I sometimes wonder if there's something wrong with me that my tears flow so much watching these amazing musicians share their gifts and then you validate that. No, there isn't.
We thought you did a great job with your reaction to GLS, but you blew us away with this one. Such a complex composition with all the dynamic changes and only your second Nightwish song, and you nailed it. We've watched dozens of reactions to this and you have easily eclipsed them all. We really got quite an education into Floor's abilities and Tuomas' composition. You obviously put some serious time and effort into editing your reaction with all you thoughtful comments and the Nightwish family of fans appreciate it very much. Really happy to have you on this ride with us. Stay safe and be well.
Julia!!! I have to say that your one of the best reactors I’ve seen! Your not only a great vocal coach but your attention to detail to the music masterpiece itself is greatly appreciated. I also get the impression that You personally can’t get enough of Nightwish and Floor”s cover of past songs!! Thank you!
I only just found your channel, I watched your reaction to Ghost Love Score and now this. Watching you with such uplifted joy and excitement is completely adorable 😊, especially to music that has been touching my soul for many years. You appreciate the music in a technical way that I never could, plus the overlapping of your own human condition enveloped with it, but for me it's predominantly a journey of the heart, mind, and soul. I do love soundstage and being immersed in the separation of all the instrumentation though, which is why my 5 driver IEM's are probably my most treasured material possession. They help me perceive both the beauty and sadness of existence through the music like this that embodies it, and that is truly priceless. This is symphonic metal at its finest. I don't normally watch many reaction videos, but you approach it in such an open and sincere way that makes me happy seeing you so excited and happy over music that is a part of me, and that's alluring. Anyhow, you'll probably never see this, just thought I'd share my musings with someone that evokes them. Thanks for sharing this, it's quite touching strangely.
Great analysis thanks! I always love the technical reactions to Floor's singing because it gives me a new appreciation for her and her skill. Each song on it's own only hints at the range she is capable of. Who actually knows exactly what she is capable of?, don't think we've seen all she can do yet and just when you think you've heard it all she'll do a different style or technique we haven't heard before. On the new album she embraced the technical side of vocals rather than power, most of the songs have very complex melodies with long lines that are all over the place note to note and yet she makes it sound easy (she admits it was anything but easy.) Shoemaker is a particular favourite of most people. If you want to see another side to her then Yours is an Empty Hope at Wembley is a good one or her earlier stuff with her previous band Revamp, Disdain is great! Nightwish's Magnum Opus is The Greatest show on Earth, over 20 minutes of musical eargasm and if you go for the Tampere show then you get the full spectacle. Really hope you do more Nightwish, if it's with Floor it'll never disappoint. Finally to really feel Floor passion, beauty and power, the stripped back acoustic How's the heart? and Nemo are exceptional. As is any of her Beste Zangers stuff from last year.
Really enjoyed this reaction Nightwish has been a part of my home for many years After hearing Christmas Truce with Floor at the end I am hoping 1 day we get a Nightwish Sabaton tour
You say her toolbox...... It's infinite... Never-ending! Epica - sancta terra ft floor Jansen (retrospect version) Revamp - disdain (her writing....) Ayreon - valley of queens Beste zangers - shallow (Totally owning the song)
Loved your analysis of Floor's humbleness (and tbh, every member of Nightwish is like this even though they are the master of their own trades, they are so humble and just serve the band and the music overall, nobody sticks out or overplays anything!), it is so true! She is immersed therefore we are immersed.
I must credit you for YOUR performance as an analyst and a presence. It’s so refreshing to see someone immerse themselves so completely as most everyone is seeking a shared acceptance of the music we love. You, apart from exacting and genuinely invested dissections come across as someone quite special, a breath of fresh air and quite charming and intelligent. Thank you.
It's official - you're one of us now, Julia. Welcome to The Nightwish Army! The look on your face when she hit the chorus the first time clearly said: "Girl-Crush!". Now you know why we call her "Goddess". And Tuomas deserves a seat alongside the world's greatest classical composers. We may have lost Morricone, but we still have Holopainen. ❤️
The band and Floor Jansen are, yet again, amazing, but can I just give a shout out to your excellent reaction videos which are full of knowledge and enthusiasm. Also, very well structured, with the combination of captions and direct commentary. Never intrusive. I don’t know much about singing but love great vocalists and, rather than dissecting something that, in doing so, destroys it, your ‘dissection’ of technique just makes the experience more vivid and potent. So thank you for your excellent content.
I wonder if they need to give Tuomas even more support since Floor became the singer, and added emotion he never foresaw when he had written this for Annette.
Juuullliiiaaa!!! I am in love with you and your ability (with your excellent training) to put into words how I and many others feel this outstanding talent. I couldn’t have said it like you do. Your just amazing. Thank you girl.
Magnificent version. Like the acoustic way better, than the original. Also "Nemo" from the same session, and just everything Floor did on "Beste Zangers". I would have hated, to perform after her.
@@rockaddicthamburg8599 Floor sang the first song of the season and the last. After the first song the younger singers watching and listening were indeed slightly more nervous... The other singers didn't know Floor before the show so they were similarly blown away as most reactors on YT.
Floors control and technique seem almost neverending. It's like her vocals never tire, they sound the same throughout their entire show. The Ghost Love Score footage you watched was over an hour into that set. She's superhuman.... And btw if you want a little more of a sample of Marco's pipes, I might suggest their live cover of Pink Floyd's High Hopes.
I love Nightwish! This song, God, is so esthatic! I always like to point out a thing that barely nobody notices. When the "child" says "Now I have only 3 minutes and counting" (minute 6.56, original video) and then he says "he was found naked and dead" (minute 9.53, original video). He died exactly 3 minutes after! Everytime, GOBSMACKED!
Very enjoyable. I like reactions from those that know what they’re talking about. If you do The Greatest Show on Earth (21 mins at Tampere) be advised it’s about the creation of the universe, creation of earth, first life, first humans and our ultimate demise. There is a Tampere video that contains lyrics and one that does not. 😄🤘
Just wanted to say out of the hundreds of vocal coaches reactions I have only subscribed to 4. Your explanations are so clean and easy to understand, it has opened this retired pediatrician to a whole new world. In regards to night wish I feel like Mozart got caught in a wormhole reincarnated as Thoumas and is composing for electronic instruments and Floor descended from Asgard to put it in voice.
My dream is just you seeing them in "Romanticide" and "Yours is an Empty Hope".... The dynamic of Marko and Floor in these two songs will explode your ears.
As I watched this again I remembered I have to thank you for not only for all your Nightwish reactions teaching me quiet a few things on what I am hearing but also for a word extension to my English vocabulary being “bamboozled” that was a new one for me, thank you. Your reactions are a pleasure to watch also due to your nonverbal communication about the things you are experiencing/hearing/seeing during your reactions. Thanks a million
No matter how much i like the sound your reaction is all im looking at... i am so amazed by your calm warming face and the hair color is the cherry on top..
I was at Wembley for this. Legit when they started playing it I turned to my mate and went 'Wait they're playing this?!?'. We got to see all three Nightwish epics, and til the day I day I will cherish that absolutely
5, 6 times I watched your reaction and everytime I hear more emotions in the song through you. And about the none existing ego vibes you mention, Floor totaly fits in the close group of friends Nightwish is nowadays.
I seriously enjoy watching your reaction videos and analysis. You're amazing and please keep doing what you do. I've only been watching you for about two months or so. Much love from Peoria Arizona USA 🤘🔥💥🙏
It's so hard to pick a favorite piece of theirs (among the Big 3) but due to the weight of this one, I keep coming back for more. Simply, a breathtaking performance.
I'm also amazed how she can let herself feel the song so much without breaking down in tears. I mean, it's about her 'brother' Tuomas' depression and suicidal thoughts. I cry and don't even know the man personally. lol
A truly phenomenal piece of music. Composition, arrangement, instrumentals, vocals, visuals, lyrics....... everything is outstanding. A Masters class in 14 minutes of music. Much respect!
You dove right into the most emotional song in their history. Tuomas (the keyboardist and writer) felt so horrible about firing Tarja, the singer before Floor and apparently someone close to him, that he had to either write this song or commit suicide for real. I believe he felt he'd betrayed her...and I know that feeling. I badly hurt someone I deeply care about a few years ago, and while I can't claim to have been that suicidal, I understand where he's coming from. This one really punches me in the gut. In the video, you can see a couple of the members go check on him and then stand with him.
I have seen way too many reactions to this beautiful song but this is my absolute favorite. You do an amazing job of balancing technique and emotion. Also, in the most non-creepy way possible, you are the most stunning woman I have ever seen.
To view Floor in a different setting, she participated in the Dutch TV show Beste Zangers (Best Singers) which brought together some amazing singers to sing, to each other. No competition. It was very cool. They would interview each of them so you really can get a feel about just how humble Floor is. Each of the participants would be "in the hot seat" and the others would sing one song that meant something to that person. Floor sang in Dutch, English, Spanish, and German. It was an incredible series. Thank you for reacting to this.
i had the privilege of working stage crew for this show at Wembley Arena, the atmosphere of this song in person was unbelievable , also nice to see the video walls i built worked lol
Hehe, that's great. You can feel very proud to be a part of this performance, take care...
How jealous am I?
I was there that night and everything looked absolutely fantastic. Superb job from you and the rest of the stage crew.
Just divine.
im 56 and i can tell you there is nothing wrong with having a little sniffle with some great Floor...you are human!!
Same here and i'm 50 😁
40yo here, same brother
(Hello from Louisiana).
try Nightwish - The Greatest Show On Earth - live
I think it would be a shame to leave out the soprano singers as well. They absolutely kill their parts.
This is true but there's no denying to Tuomas being a brilliant poet and songwriter and Floor being a world-class singer. No offense to Emppu, but his work is nothing any decent guitarist couldn't do.
The Greatest Show on Earth live at Tempere next for the trilogy.
Agree, but I’d go for the Wembley version because of the special guest in the end 🤘🏻 Tampere is awesome as well btw 👌🏻
@@evilfriz666 totally agree
Definitely Tampere for the fireworks!
Maybe a little bit too early for that masterpiece? Normally you do this after about 20+ songs.
@@MarcXL81 For regular reactors, yes. Agree with you. Vocals coaches/musicians take a different approach and are able to enjoy and appreciate such a masterpiece.
How many people can take one of the most painful periods in their life, and turn it into something as wonderful as this?
I really love how the vocal coaches/singers still get mesmerized, excited and are in awe with Floor's singing when they react to Nightwish. It's very contagious.
When marco brings his vocals in to support Floor at the end......amazing! Their voices are meant to be together
This song is so emotional for me. I ALWAYS cry in the end, after fourteen minuters of musical excellence...
I LOVE THIS.
Eu também ❤
I applaud you for your patience in analysing this song considering this is only your second Nightwish song and it's one of their complex ones. Respect sistah ❤

Boy I just never get tired of seeing people discover Nightwish. Great analysis.
One of the best feelings ever, to share NW
@Vito Selvaggi Hi...just gave you the 100th 'thumbs up', apparantely...cheers!
@@jvoxfox One42Chrisp is right, you really should check out "The Islander" next!
@@jvoxfox In the studio version that part IS sung by the boy so in a way she's doing an impression of that. Makes sense you'd think that.
@@jvoxfox I enjoy the angelic young mans voice in the beginning, he sounds so ethereal & it ties in so well with the entire story.
The name of the "lad" is Guy Elliot and he is a boy soprano.
Great Reaction. many thanks
I've heard she offered to do the first part as well but Tuomas wanted that part as is.
Thanks for the info Shine. I didn't knew that. :)
@@karpuze80 at times Tuomas has had the vocals turned off on his in ear monitors during this song for emotional weight

This ^ so much this ^ really all of this ^
Couldn't have said that any better
As a fellow Aussie I would like to pass you a totally non sleazy compliment ....... You are Beautiful !!!
Nothing like hearing a fellow Aussie refer to a Nightwish chorus as a "banger" hahaha. Keep up the good work!
YES!!!!!!! Your face says it all. 😁Nightwish with Floor are SO FREAKIN GOOD!!
And next reaction - The Islander, Tampere 2016 - Marco lead singer
And then - either The Carpenter, Buenos Aires 2018 or Harvest from their new studio album - here is Troy the lead singer.
And again - you are a completely talented and awesome reactor 👍👍👍🤘🤘🤘👌💪
Just keep them coming 🤘 🤘
Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰
I cry everytime I hear this song, just hits you in the feels.
And me . . . . . . . . .
Who is cutting onions??...
@@SergioSBloch those ninjas... again!
its hard to breathe listening to this .. breath taking .. the story is about the heartbreak of Tuomas over Tarja ..
Dutch (from the Netherlands), not Danish (from Denmark). I know that's what you meant, you just wrote it wrong, I think...
She is Dutch from the Southern province of Noord Brabant her accent is less harsh then that of the Northern provinces like Noord Holland and Zuid Holland...So Dutch windmill...😁
satomiwa , thanks for the clarification. I did not know that
As someone else mentioned, I don't get tired of hearing new listeners react to Floor and Nightwish.
Absolutely true... While your lips are still red is such a great song, although almost nobody seems to appreciate it...
I always have a soft spot for his cover of High Hopes, myself
Listen to his demo of this... Especially the extra verse....
and yet I think he shines more in 3 different songs: The Phantom of the Opera (live with Tarja), The river, High Hopes cover (End of an Era).
Aaaah your commentary on the composition (and not just the vocals) makes me so happy. Please do the Greatest Show on Earth, to complete the trifecta.
If you want a solo performance from him, I recommend "The Islander" from Tampere.
in 1 year I will have reviewed this video 20 times to be able to enjoy together Nitwish (especially Floor), your analysis and ... your face
If you want to hear marco’s range try the nightwish cover of phantom of the opera. His range will floor you. 😉 it also has the original vocalist tarja.
Another less growly rendition of Marco proving his excellent vocal range and compliment to Floor is Song of Myself from Wacken 2013
He sings some Songs with Delain, without playing Bass, it Sounds very good
The Islander and While Your Lips Are Still Red are also good examples of Marco's range as well. He also sings The Gathering with the group Delain.
@@micheller314 The High Hopes cover!
awesome performance.. sometime i feel myself forgetting that theres a band on stage, a drummer working his ,,,off, , who know how long they spent stirring all these ingredients!
Well said Ron Restorff, well said indeed.

Haha 🌷 yes he does 🤘
People usually comment on how amazing Marco is (which is amazing) and they occasionally mention how its great how he is able to sing and play bass at the same time, however what amazes me in this song is that it is not an easy bass line during the 4th section to be playing under his vocals. Its not like he is strumming the tonic of the chords. That's a moving line and he doesn't miss a note. hats off to him :)

Thank you!
Awesome! Been waiting for another one from you on Nightwish. Here we go!
On the new album she embraced the technical side of vocals rather than power, most of the songs have very complex melodies with long lines that are all over the place note to note and yet she makes it sound easy (she admits it was anything but easy.)
Shoemaker is a particular favourite of most people.
Really enjoyed this reaction
Nightwish has been a part of my home for many years
After hearing Christmas Truce with Floor at the end I am hoping 1 day we get a Nightwish Sabaton tour
You say her toolbox...... It's infinite... Never-ending!

Revamp - disdain (her writing....)
Ayreon - valley of queens
Beste zangers - shallow (Totally owning the song)
You should react to Epica ft. Floor. The song is Stabat _ Delorosa
Loved your analysis of Floor's humbleness (and tbh, every member of Nightwish is like this even though they are the master of their own trades, they are so humble and just serve the band and the music overall, nobody sticks out or overplays anything!), it is so true! She is immersed therefore we are immersed.
beautiful song and certainly great reaction!
Julia you said you got the goosebumps and tummy tingles, we just call that a Floorgasm. She is just an awesome vocalist.
Thank you.
When people know the back story to this composition, it's heart-breaking. Marco and Emppu going to Tuomas at the end was genuine.
So thank you for your excellent content.
btw. in the end when Emppu and Marko goes to Tuomas , it's to support him , like gooood friends do !!.. Stay safe.
Floor completely stripped down: Hows the Heart - acoustic. It's just Floor, Troy, and a guitar
Or Floors solo version of Lady Gagas 'Shallow' at Beste Zangers 2019.
Magnificent version. Like the acoustic way better, than the original. Also "Nemo" from the same session, and just everything Floor did on "Beste Zangers". I would have hated, to perform after her.
Oh my heart with that song! I adore that version!
@@rockaddicthamburg8599 Floor sang the first song of the season and the last. After the first song the younger singers watching and listening were indeed slightly more nervous... The other singers didn't know Floor before the show so they were similarly blown away as most reactors on YT.
Now I listen to reaction videos, if I listen to this straight through, I cry, we love you Toumas.
Nice job, if you want to hear Marco sing without distortion I suggest "the Islander" live a very different style and type of song. Enjoy!!
Live at tampere so naturel and sympatic
No matter how much i like the sound your reaction is all im looking at... i am so amazed by your calm warming face and the hair color is the cherry on top..
Please react to Floor's performances on "Beste Zangers 2019".
She is just amazing and showed her true full potential there.
I was at Wembley for this. Legit when they started playing it I turned to my mate and went 'Wait they're playing this?!?'. We got to see all three Nightwish epics, and til the day I day I will cherish that absolutely
Julia: "Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. Whichever applies to you."
Me: "Goodnight" 😂😂
You don't miss much, Julia, and you're a real pleasure to watch.
Please unwrap some live Epica, too.
They're good.
"Yours Is An Empty Hope " !! "Ghost River" Floor Growls !.
This entire performance is a true musical master class. Top to bottom, side to side, beginning to end.
Please please please react to Shoemaker!!!
Nightwish | Shoemaker | their latest album, Human :||: Nature. I second this request. 🤘
Thank you for this great reaction 🙏🏻
On to the greatest show on earth from Tampere!
Ask Floor "What singing tools do you have in your toolbox?",
Floor: "Yes"
Her voice never ceases to amaze and tantalise me...
Now I really want to see Floor on stage say "Yoink, mine now!" to the audience...
Teehee omg that would be hilaaaarious
Oh and the concert had gone about an hour before that song even started.
I love how u put ur thoughts on the screen. U are so thoughtful
