    IMPORTANT: Unfortunately, I won’t be responding to Instagram messages anymore. I hope you guys understand. It’s not an easy thing for me to have to say. Back when I first started my channel I had very little subscribers so this was something I could do easily but now as my channel has grown and that I’m a mother to two very young children, it’s impossible for me to respond to everyone. I currently have 92 unread messages in my inbox and that’s only from last week. I’ve also been getting a lot of rude and hurtful messages of people saying that I’m fake because I’m not responding or sending me message after message demanding for my attention. I know how it feels when you’re desperate. Truly, I do. I’ve been there. But please remember I am just one person. A lot of people are also asking me for medical advice but please remember I am not a doctor. I’m just like you.
    If you want to get in touch, I offer health anxiety talking sessions which you can book here - cherellethinks.setmore.com
    I have a health anxiety support page on Facebook. Just type in ‘Health Anxiety Community’ and last, I also do regular Q&A’s on my Instagram too to answer any questions people may have. I hope you understand and it’s never my intention to upset anyone. There just isn’t enough hours in the day. Thanks so much. X

    I needed 6 doctors to tell me I didn't have a brain tumor. In the span of 2 months I thought I had a brain tumor, a heart attack, bladder infection, an aneurysm, and now lymphoma. I hate this. And honestly it all started with me googling my headache after a couple days. Turns out my C1 and C2 vertebrae are misaligned which has been causing my headaches. After going to a chiropractor who specializes in upper cervical work i have felt so much better but my health anxiety is still with me and I hate it.

    I don't have health anxiety for myself, but I have near crippling health anxiety for my cats. I have lost hours on Google looking up symptoms of cat illnesses and learning about more illnesses and vague warning signs, etc. My brain just spirals and I get massively anxious and I know I should stop Googling but I couldn't. Then suddenly I see symptoms everywhere all the time on my cats. Someone on a pet anxiety reddit post recommended this channel and I'm glad I found you.

    Thank you for mentioning the forums and support groups as particularly harmful. I’ve never had much of a problem with WebMD and those sort of official sites, but the patient forums have done me so much harm over the last 12 years. Like you say, they all think that everyone who mentions vague symptoms has their disease, and it’s often people with the worst outcomes that hang around in these groups (obviously, if you have a condition and then get well, you’re probably not going to want to spend much time in a patient forum). And it really bothers me now that you see the same rhetoric that used to be contained in these forums all over TikTok etc.

    I have always been prone to anxiety but due to a misdiagnosed health issue a few years ago, I've realised that it's triggered health anxiety and I now regularly feed into that behaviour/feeling. Every once in a while I'm tempted to search whenever I feel something, but I try to remind myself that Google isn't reliable for this stuff. I've had this since last year, it started with one google search, and it led to a downward spiral of my mental health. Worst part is, my loss of apetite happened on my graduation week. Such awful timing. It eventually came back tho once I calmed down. My anxiety improved since then, all we have to do is resist any temptation, and just ask someone we can trust, rather than google

    I can't tell you how strongly I relate to this struggle. I've had an issue with chronic facial pain for a while. Because the pain is always present, as soon as I have a quiet moment my mind is racing about worst case scenarios for the underlying cause. I've probably convinced myself I have a brain tumor 25 times in the past two months (though doctors tell me its very unlikely). We cannot just say. “Ummm. This is anxiety. It causes all of these weird symptoms and feelings. You are basically putting your body into fight or flight and the cycle continues. “. Nope. Straight to cancer, brain tumor, MS. Etc. and we forget all of our coping skills and make it worse. Eat crap, don’t exercise/meditate, get good sleep. Etc. Stuck in a loop. Sigh.

    google has taken over and ruined my mental health. it all started last summer when the left side of my neck swelled up. went down after antibiotics. then, around my 18th birthday, the left side of my throat started to hurt and boom i thought i had an undiagnosed cancer. surprisingly, after distracting myself, the symptom went away and never came back. this cycle is on and off with every little body sensation i feel. i've been convinced i had oral cancer, CSF leak, brain tumor, esophageal cancer, stomach cancer, skin cancer, and lymphoma. now, i'm worried about bowel cancer, and the odds are so little due to my age and family history. it's ruining my mood. but, weird enough, whenever i ignore my symptoms and distract myself (like being w my friends), i feel normal. everything is fine afterwards until my subconscious thoughts take over and i go back on google. and oh goodness, those forums freak me out.

    I had an accident 2 years ago and it got me to bump my head. It wasn't severe, it hurted for like 3 days but the doctors told me it was nothing (they didn't really check). 4 days ago I felt the same pain I felt the day after the accident and I immediately freaked out. Obviously what I did was searching on the internet and the first thing I see is "a trauma can be deadly after years"! It complitely ruined my night out. The day after the pain was gone, but 2 days after until yesterday my head started to hurt and now I'm freaking out! I'm pretty sure it can be anxiety and if my doctor says it's nothing I could not believe him.

    I honestly am so worried that I’m going to have a brain aneurysm every second of the day...that I have physical symptoms. I feel like I’m trapped in my brain and I don’t know what to do. I don’t hear anyone talking about brain aneurysm anxiety...that’s not just me is it? I honestly am so worried.

      why would you think you have colon cancer?

  • @raytvrz92
    @raytvrz92 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I went to the neurologist about a week and a half ago. And he told me that i do not have MS according to my MRI. And that none of my symptoms are from MS. And i told him that i have searched and actually all of my symptoms are from MS. He got angry basically showed no concern. So i asked him for a MRI OF my thoracic spine because there can be lesions there. And he said NO WAY. And he ordered a lumbar spine mri to look for a herniated disc 😒. This would be fine if the symptoms were only in my legs but they are NOT. But he doesnt want to do a thoracic spine mri and i feel like i wouldn’t be relieved until i get that mri of my thoracic spine.
