Thank you for your honest review. I’ve ordered one of these on the back of this video. I have a spring lever vice at the moment but find it big and cumbersome. In the price point there are not many alternatives and I like you have no need for a rotary. I wanted the flexibility of being able to move about with the clamp and the pedestal base between indoors and outside on the patio when required. As I do not have a dedicated tying space. The shape of the jaws appealed to me also and tie in the range from size 10 to 20 so should suit my needs perfectly. Great review many thanks.
Ryan, received my new apex and have to agree it was a little clunky and felt dry. I have lubricated with molybdenum grease through the locking screw hole and each side of the shaft with a dubbing needle. It is now smooth as silk so just presume it does not come lubricated from the factory. Really chuffed with it and love the fine jaws for the small flies I tend to tie. Thanks again for the recommendation.

Glad it helped! Hope you enjoy the vice

Glad to hear it! I still haven't gotten around to doing any lubrication with mine. I think that'll be the plan for this evening
It will make the world of difference. I tried Brunox light lubricating oil to start with little effect. A light grease is the way to go.
