You are absolutely right when you say you don’t have to know what most of the stuff in a machine does. …as long as every switch is cleaned and adjusted, and the steppers work smoothly. If you get that right then the machine should work. …That’s how I started and 30 plus years later, that’s still basically true. This machine looks like it’s gonna be an interesting game to play. I’ve found that most games with a bunch of rollover buttons are usually pretty good fun. Thanks for all the videos this year Ronnie. Happy Xmas to you, Joe, Donny and your families.
Nice to see a "dealers choice" in your shop. This is the first pinball machine I got to fix. Over ten years ago and it's still up and running. Only a few minor fixes needed in all those years.
Another "cool" pinball repair video! Thanks for filming for us. Good timing as I just picked up a single player 1972 Williams Gulfstream (great game). Very similar mechanically. I just need to clean clean clean ......
Its got the same playfield as Lucky Ace and Hi Ace. Those score reels look like Bally's. Great video. Thanks for all the videos over the last year, and you and Joe and your familys have a great Christmas🌲
Wish those kids would quick kicking the back of the seat while yelling "are we there yet" about all the machines in the background patiently waiting their turn! 😕 Lord willing, I have faith you'll get to them in due time and give them the care they need! 🤠 It is fun how they made this game asymmetrical so you have the challenge of not losing the ball by cradling on the left but you also get a flipper high up for beating up the targets! That and the fluorescent pink (now salmon) is peak 70s color - although a shame how it always fades. Still, another good one glad to see you bringing it back to life! 😎
Poor thing. Ron, give her some of your special attention. I am sure she will come out looking beautiful once you and Joe are done doing what you do so well. Have a wonderful holiday season gentlemen. May 2025 be full of success and happiness.
I saw another pinball machine repair video that also had deteriorating particle board and that's how they repaired that one... Painted on fiberglass resin to glue everything back together.
Built in the year I was born. Those zeros being different would drive me crazy. I would fill in the Diamond on the Ace, other than that I could deal with the wear on the back glass.
Firmly agree with you guys regarding the paint. Faded is faded, the machines are old and deserve to look natural. Of course, stark scratches or immediately obvious damage should be touched up, but not the fading.
Another great video thank you for all the videos you have posted this year. Have a merry christmas and a happy new year (I know what's wrong it's BROKE 😁
I think I said this year ago when I first saw your many touch up painting that I have a Dealers Choice and some of my pink has worn away. I think I'm just going to leave. I streamed it on Twitch about a week ago. It was my first game I bought. And I mainly took a chance and bought a pinball machine back in 2019 because of your videos. So thanks again.
39:00 Something I discovered about the "shoes" - they need to move freely up & down or you could get intermittent problems. Be sure to add a little of that dielectric grease under the springs to the post to prevent the shoes from sticking in the up position.
Cool looking game. I wonder why when they put the stickers on the score reels, they didn't add them to the fake zeros. Looking forward to the next video, thanks very much.
Not going to lie.. at 43:13ish when you panned to the back glass My first thought was.. its too bad it looks too new for that cabinet. I thought it was a reproduction LOL I think it is a great match for that machine. Brown chicken, Brown cow!
As an experienced theoretical cabinetmaker, the wood you've got there is particle board. MDF or medium density fibreboard is made from fine sawdust & glue, looks like timber with absolutely no grain, turns to fluff when it gets wet, and is being phased out as it causes cancer when the fibres get in your lungs. If particle board gets as far as your lungs youve got bigger problems than a cancer risk.
I bet you started the cleaning and got diverted to another project. I would try putting pink blinking bulbs (or a tinted sleeve) behind the text on the backglass. Try one and see. You have a good eye for color and you can select the best shade.
I have a question do you have a link to the felt used on some of the jukeboxes on the panels to help eliminate vibration noise ? i need to replace some and cannot seem to find any! Thanks guys
Here is my whine about a game just sitting there neglected. Now why won't you fix the Battlezone that has been sitting in the corner for AGES! Actually, it has been back there since I visited the store about 5 years ago! Ok, whine over. Truly, you guys do you. Love the channel.
We have customers that bring us games to fix, and then we have people that request games too so we have certain ones that we like to do... the Battlezone is a huge project that needs a lot of work, and has a water damaged cabinet nobody's going to be happy with after we repair anyways, so we're waiting on that one until we find the right customer.
@@LyonsArcade Didn't see the damage when I was there. It was fairly buried. The game intrigues me, though. First full sized cabinet I've seen. I only played cabaret versions of it back in the day.
Still waiting on that Mario Bros and the Miss Universe Bingo. Been staring at those two in the background of SO many videos since I got here. Keep waiting and wondering when... It has to happen eventually right?
To those who keep asking about the games in the background, Ron has said many times yes they will eventually get fixed. The games get repaired in a certain order and he doesn’t just start a random one so you’ll have to be patient.
RON, 3 in 1 oil SAE 10 weight is Thicker and Less Fluid while The 3 in 1 oil SAE 20 Weight is Thinner. I'm not sure what they mean by the "weight" of the oil? 3 in 1 oil means 3 of what?
If they would have cleaned and lubricated the stepper unit properly they wouldn't have needed to mess with (ruin) that spring in the first place! Even when cleaning, adjusting, and lubrication doesn't completely fix the issue and shortening a spring DOES become necessary due to wear, I've never had to shorten one anywhere near that much. A few coils is usually enough. The problem is a lot of the springs on a stepper unit counteract another spring in one way or another. If it's not another spring, it's counteracting a coil of some sort. The engineers knew what they were doing when they designed this stuff, so majorly altering the amount of tension a spring provides usually creates another problem sooner or later. Just fix it right folks!!!
The EM/mech pinball machines are so cool. The sound and vib of all the relays are part of the game play experience.

You are absolutely right, that's the perfect way to put it!
Hi Ron, Hi Joe. Another great machine. Thanks! Have a good weekend! Catch you Tuesday!
Thanks William, See you Tuesday!
Nice to see a "dealers choice" in your shop. This is the first pinball machine I got to fix. Over ten years ago and it's still up and running. Only a few minor fixes needed in all those years.
I love it!
Thanks for the video Ron. Enjoyed your work on Dealer's Choice
Thanks as ever for sharing. Merry Christmas to you all from the UK. Regards

You'll get it up and running in no time!
Super exciting, more pinball videos! And getting closer to that bingo machine getting a video. Thank you for the video.
Awesome! I love the EM machines, but I also love the modern electronic ones.
I remember seeing this machine around town in many locations back in '73/'74.
Every time I see a EM pinball I think of what big jigs they must have had to do all these harneses in this games. Thanks for all the great videos.
Happy Holiday's you guys .
Its got the same playfield as Lucky Ace and Hi Ace. Those score reels look like Bally's. Great video.

Funhouse!!! hahahaha! My favourite machine...
I'm here for the EM's! (And the more modern machines...) Any chance you'll do a Bingo some day? I'd like to learn more about them.

They want what they want and they want it NOW
Waiting for the day you get an ADAMS FAMILY pinball 😂 😁

Another great vid!
Nice, I saw this on your guys’ store page.
That gunk they painted on reminds me of the resin used for fiberglassing.
I saw another pinball machine repair video that also had deteriorating particle board and that's how they repaired that one... Painted on fiberglass resin to glue everything back together.
Merry Christmas guys!
Merry Christmas to you too!
Very interesting EM machine. Although those mis-matched fake reels would drive me nuts!!! Haha
I must admit I’d be the same… the sticker font they used is just horrible. Only marginally better than if they used “Comic Sans MS”! Regards
Built in the year I was born. Those zeros being different would drive me crazy. I would fill in the Diamond on the Ace, other than that I could deal with the wear on the back glass.
VERYYYYYYYYYYYYY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

That is definitely true

i have one of these just went through it completely
Ooo. Fun House .. Eat Steel Rudy!

I recognize the sound from the motor. It needs lubrication. The shaft is vibrating within the dry bearings.
Work on that Funhouse! RRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
You always say you can't play pinball, but you always seem to do okay. Just saying... and Merry Christmas to you and everyone here on the channel!
Merry Christmas!
My son watched this video with me. And saw the super mario bro pinball machine and wants it, and I told them, it's in the usa we're in canada
I bet you started the cleaning and got diverted to another project. I would try putting pink blinking bulbs (or a tinted sleeve) behind the text on the backglass. Try one and see. You have a good eye for color and you can select the best shade.
I've built light boxes for stained glass guys to paint stained glass windows. Maybe a light box would help you see more exactly.
hey Joe whats the machine with the Jester. you can see it at the 3 minute mark on the right hand side.
just curious
That's called Joker Ball, it's an old Midway arcade game before they started putting monitors in them...
I have a question do you have a link to the felt used on some of the jukeboxes on the panels to help eliminate vibration noise ? i need to replace some and cannot seem to find any! Thanks guys
Unfortunately I've never messed with trying to find that...
Dang, I was late to the party!!
They should have printed up four additional score reel numbers so the fake reels would match what they changed.
Always try magic eraser first, it will rather work or not, then go from there.
It's not Pink, it's Salmon.. tough fish

If you’re asking you haven’t been in the hobby long enough. Everyone says that! 😂
But what about Mario!! Haha!😂
By the time Mario gets repaired it will be too late to save Princess Peach. 🤣
I think he should open up an arcade when it's done lol 😁
That gearbox is definitely (in the words of a wise wise man) broke

I turn 59 today
Happy Birthday!
I'm going to rage quit if you don't use Magic Erasers
