As a American who graduated from Sir Francis Drake High School in 1975 and saw ads in Soldier of Fortune I am Fascinated with all these interviews. You all Have My deep respect. Being a Hunter and Gun collector / enthusiast who loves all kinds of music I am a huge John Edmonds Fan. One of My Sons Chose to make His Career as Doctor in The Green Berets. You Rhodesians as far as I am concerned were the finest fighting Force in History and I can get into a deep discussion on why I feel that way while not wanting to denigrate other fine and brave soldier’s who also deserve great respect. I consider the adversities and impediments You operated under and the great advantages Your enemies had in their support and propaganda machines that so completely beguiled the ostentatious leaderships of all Your former allies who disgracefully betrayed You including My Own Country and Government. To live for and Die if necessary in the Company of Rhodesian’s and Your Cause would be a great Honor. I admit to feeling like a coward now in the comfort and safety of a declining and not so safe USA now. You also pioneered the use of specialized Vehicles. The 240 cu. Inch and 300 cu. Inch straight Six Cylinder motors were the best that Ford Made and easy to work on .
thank you so much sir for your kind words regarding our people and land. You come from a great nation and hopefully it will return to its former glory. It's nice to know that a person from so far away understands our conflict, it's refreshing to hear your comments.
Tatenda Hans and boss John for another interesting episode… Hans your memory is fantastic .. now this one was too short .. part 3 may become part 4 😂😂. Keep them coming as your story telling is excellent ! You took huge risks getting the intell. So pleased you didn’t come to harm . Good man ! 👏👏 Hamba gashle brother 🙏🏻
Excellent Hans. Really brought back plenty memories especially of the Op Hurricane area. So nice that the RAR major started working with you / believing in your int. Excellent story telling
So many memories come flooding back when you tell your own experiences, especially around Op Hurricane Good to hear your testimony of the RAR lads. Obviously understand it is difficult to get any of these guys on the show and some of the older senior NCO's have probably passed RIP, but they were brave to the end. Thanks Hans for your memories and John for bringing another great interview to your audience. Keep safe and stay well!!
Well done, sir. I am glad you survived the many contacts. That kill zone you went through gives me goosebumps and makes my neck hair stand up just listening to it. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.
Hi Hans - can't recall where we met now but I was never up in Hurricane apart fromdoing PATU earlier with Dave Darby in Chiweshe. I was in SB from '75 in Gwelo then took over SB/CID Shabani from Phil Sinclair in '76 had Duncan Kennaird, Dave Long and Martin Oosthuizen with me. Left there in '79 to Salisbury in Op Amnesty with Geoff Price and Angus Ross. Then to SB/CID Kariba in late '79. Were you at any of those places?
I was about one letter away from enlisting in the BSAP and heading off to Rhodesia, then the UK and the commie Wilson completely sold them out. I often wonder what my life would have been had I got that air ticket.
John, the videos seem to be getting murdered with ads these days, multiples of and very often, 6-10 mins, any idea what's going on as it's very annoying, tks.
One of those young men jumping from the helicopter was (is) my younger brother-in-law. RIP

To think that any person would live under that pressure every day is incomprehensible to the average man in the street, these days.
