  • 1977 Datsun B210 Junkyard Find. So for those that were wondering if I had made a video on this little gem of car, here she is in all her glory. This 77 Datsun b210 hatchback had this eye catching color to her that just drew me in. Well that and the fact that its just a cool looking little hatchback. I refer to these little imports as " unsubscribe specials " because every time I drop a video on one, a few subs decide to head out 😆. Oh well cant please them all.

We had that cold weather this past weekend. I stopped by my garage to put something away and I couldn't wait to get back into the car. It was like a raw November day in April. That recall sticker was supposed to be stuck to the door jamb or under the hood to show compliance with the recall, but apparently, it was handed to the owner and they just put it in the glove box. LOL. I think it was issued in 1983 based on the "83V" number at the front (with V being for voluntary).
Yep, that's the VIN. It is H for 1.4L A14 engine, L for left hand drive, B210 for the model/chassis type and the rest is the production sequence. Same as a US made car of this vintage, dash VIN and door jamb VIN and they seem to match. Yes, those are for the seat belts. GM cars had them too. That big yellow/orange thing in the trunk is one of the original wheel chocks that came with the car, for when you need to change a flat.
This one is a bit rare---it has AC. Looks like it says "Trim Line"? Might have been a dealer installed graphics package. The 1970s were all about stripes....

Haven't seen one of these since I was a kid! Around here by time they were 7-8 years old, totally rusted out. Cool to see one though. 😎👍

I liked this car, and the datsun pickup. My uncle put a 5.0 in his datsun pickup years ago!

I grabbed one about same shape cause the unibody was solid and used some road signs on the inside, quick and simple ... pulled the engine and transmission, dropped a 350 chevy with automatic.. plate across the front for front mount and a piece of 2 x 4 steel for rear mount with a chevy rear chopped quick and easy, big bang welds in the pit, simple wiring as everything you need it already there. Used datsun radiator and fired it up... got some two inch wide flat stock and made a x under it so you could still get trans out should you need to... my engine came out of seventies small pickup and used rear end out of car. No special brakes or other, just saved everything. I welded two flat pieces on frame to bolt the rear crossmember. I loved those shifters as it was adaptable for shift on that 350 auto transmission. Everything done in three days as cleaning took the most time, if they run then kids will patch holes and I had it up for sale I guess before I knew it and had offers to build it and sell. No paint or patch short of what i did first thing. I blew it up spinning wheels till tires pop.

If this was in the UK that would fetch a fair few bucks! We don't have scrap yards here anymore, so when an old car like this pops up they don't hang around for long. In fact, most of the old cars in these yards would find a home here.

Don’t listen to the haters. Anything old is cool and I appreciate seeing this stuff. Those headlights might be original, how many 43 year old Ford and Chevys still have theirs ? Thanks for posting

I had a 78 back in 1985 with an auto, got about 40 mpg but felt like it was Steve Austin's aircraft on the runway at 60 mph. Broke the tires loose in the rain once on a corner. It was my half sisters from California so at age 8 it saw it's first Wisconsin winter, was rusted by age 15. There was an electronic button under the gas pedal to get it into passing gear, maybe for the Amish buggy if you had balls.

I sold got tommy Thomas Datsun Mercedes in Panama City Florida in 1977. These cars sold new for about $3k. They came stripped down. The dealership would sometimes go ahead and put in a radio, rear louvrres and maybe stripes, but the customer could pick all that out or buy it straight. None of them came with air but they made a unit for it that could be added on for $400.00. Now our basic commission usually ran about $45.00 on these, but the more accessory items we could add the bigger our commission so we’d try to load these up. Thomas also owned the Chevy dealership do we had GMAC financial services we could go through and we’d get a commission off that too. Most I ever made off a B210 was less than $100,00, the Z cars sold for less than 4K. By comparison I could sell a Mercedes D300 and make $175.00 before add ones. Datsun of course is Nissan. They were great little cars too.

Dunno why people hate videos on these, many imports are classics! Looks like a Sparkomatic aftermarket radio, the company is well known for making 8 track to cassette adapters for those who wanted to listen to cassette!
Too bad she's crusty mostly on the inside, 70s and 80s imports are very collectible and worth just as much if not more than American cars of the same era. California is where Datsuns are most abundant, I'm surprised this one's in Texas! Nice to see you wearing gloves though!😎👍

People loved those cars because they were cheap, ran forever and got great gas mileage. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a Texas car---that's how rusty they got without road salt. The bodies dissolved in just a few years up north
