Damn right! When Conan was on this dude (I didn't know who he was back then) always had a badass guitar and always a different one. I was SO jealous! He's great 🎸
My first Gibson is my 2005 Les Paul custom a graduation gift from my parents and I still have it and she still sings every beautiful note 15 years later!
My first Gibson was in the early 80's, a local music store had a used 67 Melody Maker (SG body). It had been converted to Dimarzio Super Distortions, it was refinished (roughly) with a hardware store walnut stain and the pickguard was spray painted black. I loved it as soon as I picked it up!! It was a rock machine.
My first 2 Gibson's I saw was my 2 buddies each bought a custom.it was way back in 75.one black and one sunburst.i finally got a studio last year when I was 60.great guitar
My first gibson was a 2005 LP Studio in Wine red with gold hardware as a grad gift from my parents. I still have it today, but I rarely play it. It was definitely the beginning of that "disease."
Thanks Gibson. Mrs. Ackerman was the sweetest lady. I bought my first Ovation guitar from her. She let me use a floor model until it was built by the factory. I wish I could have afforded a Gibson LP. But Ackerman's was the only music store close to me and it was always a pleasure going there.
First time I played a Gibson was a black explorer. It was 1999 as a junior in hs. Went to a friends house for his dads band practice. He let us play on their gear for a few minutes. The explorer was awesome. I own a melody maker and an lpj now.
Received my 2018 Les Paul Traditional Honeyburst on the 4th of September this year and have not been able to part with it.. it’s too damn heavy to remove off my lap. I’m stuck. I love it! Also: that Vanilla scent that blasts you when you open the case 🤘 Gibson, make a cologne out of it please!
I play a lot of blues music now and I play a Les Paul almost daily. Also grew up watching Jimmy play every night on Conan. Wonder if there's a connection there...
Okay, did an official head count. I have 18 Gibsons now. It's crazy to think I didn't officially own one until 5 years ago. 12 different Les Pauls, an SG, a 345, 2 Firebirds, an M-III, and a Moderne. Altogether I have 43 guitars now, crazy..
My first Gibson was a 2002 (maybe 3) SG Standard in Heritage Cherry. Cool guitar. I had no idea how to use it . I played the wrong music to even hear what it could do. Sold it to a friend and I think he still has it and plays it. These days I only have an Epiphone ES 339 but it’s a decent guitar too.
Iam a fender freak but recently got my first les Paul an man I realize what I been missing !! Still love my fenders but gonna be buying a few les Paul’s an a explorer!!
JIMMY SOUNDS GOOD HERE IN 1968 I WAS 18 YEARS OLD I HAD A 1965 NON-REVERSE FIREBIRD 3 P-90s SUNBURST THAT I GOT FROM SOME FAT KID IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD THAT AND A 1965 SUNBURST L SERIES TELECASTER WERE MY 2 ELECTRIC GUITARS MANISCHEWITZ ME HAPPY MY YOUNGER BROTHER HAD A 1959 GIBSON LP JR CHERRY MY OLDER BROTHER HAD AN EARLY 60s PRECISION BASS JIMMY SURE PLAYS GUITAR CARLOS GUITARLOS 90042 "HEARTBREAKER" B~ this song was written the day before it was recorded my trio, live in the studio @ WINSLOW CT STUDIO HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA MIXED BY MARK LINNET www.carlosguitarlosmusic.com/carlos/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/02-Heartbreaker-1.mp3
My first Gibson was a 2014 SGJ, and it made me swear never to buy another Gibson guitar because the quality control was so abysmal. The wood in the pickup and control cavities was badly chewed up with burs and splinters around the edges; the fret ends were left unfinished, so that I cut my hand twice in three months; the sides of the rosewood fingerboard were completely butchered by whoever "scraped" them; and the action at the nut was more than twice what it should have been. An absolutely terrible first experience with the Gibson brand.
Jimmy! Such a great player! I remember my first Gibson..it was a 1965 Gibson SG Standard..I got it in the late 80's when everyone was getting rid of their old guitars because they wanted the new flashy pointy headstock guitars...back when they were still old guitars not vintage/collectable ( at least not yet) That guitar was the best damn guitar I ever owned..since then I have owned several Gibsons but my Gibson Custom Shop Historics (Goldtop & Junior) are just the bee's knees...* Bonus- here is a cool video of Jimmy and some unknown guitarist have a blast playing some covers..ENJOY! th-cam.com/video/mlwSjUpXorA/w-d-xo.html
Jimmy is so great. I miss seeing him and the other guys on Conan’s show every night.
Damn right! When Conan was on this dude (I didn't know who he was back then) always had a badass guitar and always a different one. I was SO jealous! He's great 🎸
Jimmy's the man he is a great interview. The detail in his stories take you right back!

What an awesome graduation gift. It’s like winning twice.
We need more of this !
Just a great musician and a real, genuine human being.... wish there was more!!!
Today is my first Gibson's 40th birthday 1980 the Paul Deluxe made September 24th 1980

Congratulations. For another 40! 🎸
Happy Birthday!! I just turn 40 this year, too. Maybe I should find a birth year Custom. 👌🏻
The first Gibson I played was a ES-339 about 7 years ago. I finally was able to buy a Les Paul Goldtop tribute last year. amazing guitar!
Jimmy is awesome! 🙌🏼
First time I met a Gibson was July 2020, it was black, beautiful and lives nowadays. A Studio 97, full mahogany, and I rock the hell out of that body
Got my first REAL Gibson (had a plethora of Epiphones and copies) in '17
An SG I love with all my heart
What a great guy, and his advice is very good.
Thank you for the tips Jimmy we miss u in Conan ❤️

JIMMY VIVINO, HIT ME!
First Gibson I met was in a guitar store when I was a kid. It seemed unobtainium then, but now I own one and it's everything I hoped it would be.
still have my first Gibson a 2001 Les Paul Standard Premium Plus Cherryburst love that thing!!!
My first Gibson was an 05 SG Standard. Wish I still had it. I sold it to buy an 07 Les Paul Standard that is still my #1
This must be the best anecdote about a less paul ever!!
I play a lot of blues music now and I play a Les Paul almost daily. Also grew up watching Jimmy play every night on Conan. Wonder if there's a connection there...
First time I met a Gibson it was an '89 studio and I had to have it. 😊 now I have idk how many lol 17?

My first Gibson is an SG Standard from 2006 and since then I know what I have to look for in other guitars.

Lol! 21 year olds getting the bug! I wonder who that could be Jimmy 😂! 🤔 Thanks Bro!
the funky Rabbi is looking good sporting that straw!
Please interview more rock and metal artists.
Who would you like to see?
My first Gibson was (still is) a brand spanking new black Les Paul studio 2008. Best 1000 Euros I've ever spent.
Lol people whining about their prices now... $600 in 1968 is equivalent to $4,412 now not including taxes - so always an expensive product.
That tone in the beginning is great! What amp?
My first Gibson is my 2001 Gothic SG
hello there

The dude from Conan?
Took lessons at Ackermans after Myrtle sold it. Bought my first guitar there, cheap Harmony strat copy.
First time I bought a Gibson was 2011

Where's the '54?!?!
Lookin' like Charlie Daniels
Are Gibson parodying themselves?
Sir you are delusional. $4K is too much. Way too much for musicians that don't make $200 a night which I think describes most of us
