- Did you know this originally opened at Luna Park Sydney as Big Dipper? It made its debut in 1995, where it only operated for 6 years. It then got packed up and shipped up to Dreamworld where it reopened in 2001, and it's been there ever since!

This whole layout feels backwards.
It's a screwloop, not a loopscrew!
Quite possibly the strangest Arrow coaster layout ever...
and that’s saying something considering that dragon mountain exists
Dragon Mountain would like a word
I never realised how strange it was until I saw other layouts
This is because it started its life as Big Dipper II in Luna Park Sydney. If you find a PoV of that, you will understand why.
@@CalebKam 30 years old now
having the inversions at the end is a nice change of pace
That sunset POV is just 🤌 chefs kiss.
Cool weird coaster but can we talk about HOW GORGEOUS THAT SUNSET IS
It looks so much like it was built around it's surroundings but it's a relocation.
The waterpark was built around it has been relocated for a long time
Yeah the coaster was built first it was just after they demolished the Thunderbolt Coaster in 2003, they built the water park around the ride and opened in 2006
Technically it was. Have a look at the luna park big dipper video. This used to be that and so the thin put and back section was where BD 2nd launch is
Fun fact: You can see DC Rivals starting at 1:11 (it's the bright green dot at the top)
Oh damn! I still find it funny how close they are to each other.
am I the only one who jus calls it “The Joker” cuz DC rivals Hypercoaster is too long + it has jokers face on the top AND its purple
@@Torkino334 99% of people I overhear at the parks call it the "Joker Coaster", is a better name for sure
Gold Coaster in the Gold Coast at golden hour. Stunning.
Easily the best color scheme on an Arrow looper, its beautiful
Back in the 90s I rode this rollercoaster when it opened at Luna Park Sydney, and again many years later in it's current home at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast.
It was moved from Sydney to the Gold Coast because of all the noise complaints when it was at Luna Park. 🎢
I just watched your documentary. You have a gift . I actually cried watching this is how we roll
Loops... at the END?! Arrow loopers: Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em.
That paintjob is pretty nice tho
The first coaster Arrow designed using computers, and it's clear they relied too heavily on the "autocomplete" function.
That last turn into the station hurts a lot
When this coaster was in Luna Park, the straight part after the loop and before the last turn was the first of the two break runs. This is because back then, sometimes there were two trains running. When they moved it to Dreamworld, they removed the first break run since they're only using one train. You can even still see where the template for the breaks at 1:49.
That is a very weird unique layout and looks very smooth.
This kind of reminds me of a ride like Legend or Canadian Mine Buster where it weaves through the water park! I’ve never been to any of these parks but I’m sure the lines for some of the slides have great views of the coaster.
it looks like carolina cyclone but not as painful. Idk of any other arrow loopers with this kind of layout
yeah it’s an odd one, used to operate as big dipper at a boardwalk park known as luna park sydney located in the heart of sydney (hence the name), luna park is built right next to an apartment complex so it had to weave its way throughout buildings and other small attractions so that’s why the layout is weird
For a relocated arrow coaster, it actually looks kind of smooth.
Edit: I’m not saying it is smooth, I’m just saying on the level of a relocated arrow, it looks kind of smooth
Looks can be deceiving. She’s brutal.

It's one of the few arrow loopers with vekoma vest restraints
It rattles like crazy in the back. The transitions are very sudden and toss you around. It's not the best but people still love it.
@@Josh_Stuchbery when riding it you can see how wonky and misshapen the track is ahead of you, though it whips you around the vertical loop at the end which is the only smooth part.
That loopscrew is a screwloop!
Great vid and thanks for all the pov’s guys keep up the good work
I LOVE IT! sure its strange but that's the charm! plus its the only arrow in Australia left. and the oldest thrill steel coaster in aus, and I love coaster history. its past is very interesting as well. its also the 3rd tallest coaster in Australia. (yes I really like this ride)
Gold Coaster
"Make it blue." - Merryweather
The weirdest ArrowDynamics Custom Looper Ever!
Designed in RCT3🎉
It's had so many names, I remember it as the Cyclone, then it changed to another name which I can not remember, then to Hot Wheels Speed Racer (I believe) and now Gold Coaster
Last time I rode this, it was called 'Hot Wheels SideWinder'
I heard that Gold Coaster is one of the smoothest Arrows out there.
I hope those positives on the loops are good.
they are, it’s a great ride! (back row is where the loops shine however it’s pretty rough, no headbanging but it shakes a lot, in the front half of the train, it’s really smooth)
Thanks for this tho
I live close to this
This thing is twice as rough as tbe now defunt Arham Asylum Vekoma hang and bang was. Tbe loop is unconfoetably tight and there's constant rattle throughout. Not sure how they got the footage looking so smooth.
Is the coaster or the camera that smooth?
both, i’ve ridden it! taylor uses auto-stabilisation for his povs so it’s fair to assume why it may look smoother than it is but it’s a really smooth ride (arrow looper speaking) on its own
Anyone else think this looks really relaxing 😂
Other than a jerky transition after the second turn around, this ride is surprisingly smooth (by Arrow standard), and it is indeed quite relaxing.
I could tell just by looking at it that it was big dipper at luna park sydney
It's giving if the Steel Phantom was actually good.
I love the janky-ness of arrow coasters
Y’all should talk about the new five nights at Freddy’s dark ride coming to Universal Park
It’s not really gold if the track is teal (or is it turquoise? Idk)
the name is a play-on phrase considering where the park is located. dreamworld is located in coomera of the gold coast, the gold coast being one of australia’s largest cities. you really have to do digging to find out why some of the rides here are named the way they are (like the orphan rocker that never opened, that’s themed to the orphan rock that’s within the blue mountains of scenic world, locals understand, international’s don’t, that’s why it gets a lil confusing sometimes)
I’m having a hard time believing that arrow built this…
this originally opened at a boardwalk park down in the heart of sydney called “luna park sydney),this layout was somewhat a terrain coaster hence the weird layout, it flew through parts buildings and other attractions
It's definitely a one and done just for the cred.
this just isn’t true, it’s a great ride! idk why people are always mocking rides they haven’t been on lmao
Hey Taylor I sent you an email about a series idea and if you can respond I ask if you would pls but idk you probably don’t care
Riding this is one of the few times I wished I was on a Vekoma Boomerang instead. I rode this on its opening day at Luna Park. What a disappointment. Slow, meandering and forceless. The first drop is a ramp. After that it barely has the speed to make it around the inversions. I was surprised when Dreamworld bought it and paid for the relocation and rebuild. It really should have been junked.
Hey Taylor I emailed you on a hotmail account but you haven’t responded so you prob don’t care but idk what would I know
This is so odd
I was first but it’s not here anymore
Who cares.
@@PoffHistory it doesn’t I was just confused
