Aussie follower of yours here....really appreciate you taking the time to do this review of the park and finally making it here to the Down Under (hope to see more reviews of the rest of the parks on the Gold Coast)....I'm sure you know but for those who don't the new Flash coaster is actually the Surf Rider that has been relocated from Wet 'N' Wild....Love that ride so much and am keen to ride it again now in its new location
you guys should revisit in the summer holidays (2025 at earliest when most construction is done) so you can experience Superman, Scooby, Flash, WoO, then the whole refurbed Dreamworld.
I don't think we'll be back by 2025, but we do hope to revisit at some point. It might just a bit longer :)
Good review! Movie World's a fun park, just often mired by awful operations. Scooby and Superman are both great coasters that you guys will love! and you're right about the subpar merch.
9:57 Small correction, Harry Potter was actually in a different area of the park; the Batman Legacy building used to be a wild west show back in the day.
ah, did not realize that! My bad!
Coaster Joke Of The Day: Why Can’t You Ride Ghost Rider??? Cuz It Got Tied Up In Knott’s!
I just got back from my Australia tour, and unfortunately this park just was not operating well when I visited. The staff are very nice, but only two coasters were open (DC Rivals and Road Runner Express), and everything had pretty brutal lines. I had a better day at pretty much every other park in Australia/NZ, with Dreamworld and Sea World both impressing me a lot, despite also being in transitionary periods. Hoping to get a redemption visit when everything new is added and open - I absolutely loved my visit to this country as a whole and definitely want to come back eventually.
You got lucky with DC Rivals running. Just recently the only operating coaster was Road Runner Express.
@@marty_nz That's rough - definitely felt grateful that the most heartbreaking miss was Superman Escape, rather than say DC Rivals or Leviathan.
@@marty_nz thats BAD
The fact that there’s a Warner brothers theme park in Australia and it doesn’t have a Mad Max ride just feels wrong
I know. They could do a whole area based on it.
I know,.. crazy, huh? It’s even a Warner Bros property.
DC Rivals is easily in my top 10 Bucket List rollercoasters cannot wait to try out that ride.
I first went to this park as a teenager in the early 90’s - not long after it opened. My impression of it back then was very underwhelming, and my least favourite out of the 3 main theme parks on the Gold Coast. Main problem was the very limited amount of rides and attractions. They had a Gremlins themed dark ride, a Batman themed pod with projections- (a bit like a flight simulator), it was fairly cool. They had a much better stunt show than the current one, and the log Flume ride in the Wild West area. No coasters. A few years later they opened up the first coaster at the park, which was the Lethal Weapon ride (after the movie of course), this was later turned into the Arkham Assylum coaster I believe, and from what you’ve said, that’s been closed down now too. Having visited the park a couple of times in recent years it’s been very pleasing to see it grow, and that the developers keep putting a lot of money and support into the park, because it’s getting really good now. It only took them 30 years.
Movie World is my favourite park (that I've been to) and easily the best in Australia. Superman and Scooby Doo are great coasters with incredible theming (superman is hands-down my favourite coaster in the country) and it's a really fun time. Although they could work on their operations, I love this park and I cannot wait to return.
It's such a shame you weren't able to ride Superman Escape, the indoor themeing looked really cool and at least you saw that without even riding it.
Great vid. Love the content. Would love to see a another vid about bad roller coasters
Had a 1 week stay on the gold coast.
My daughter was so much more enthusiastic than her older brother but at 128cm she wasn't tall enough for most of coasters that were actually functioning.
I'd suggest next time you go back down under you go around October. Go do the fright nights event at MW and at that time of year they usually have all of Coasters open. Not just MW, but at Seaworld and Dreamworld usually have all of theres open as well. Its also a time when they have better ops and more then one train running.
Btw if y'all ever get stuck in Brisbane again without accommodation yall can stay in our spare room!
The construction company that themed leviathan are also theming Wizard of Oz! So there’s a lot to look forward too
It’s an awesome park but I think village roadshow isn’t doing an awesome job at managing the park, like you said, there’s not much merchandise, but the biggest problem with the park is extremely slow operations with most of there rides, especially dc rivals and green lantern. And the fast track for $180 is not worth it at all! You get 1 fast track ride on each of the 7 included rides, which is different to dreamworld which does an unlimited fast track for au$140. And you get access to more rides using dreamworlds fast track.
The fast track is definitely overpriced for what you get, that is for sure
Just came back from Disneyland Paris and was intrigued to see how different the rollercoasters were compared to Movie World!!
If was to ever get to Australia this is the park I want to do.
Hey Taylor! Question I wanna ask you. Are you guys planning to ride Rookie Racer at Six Flags St Louis whenever that opens? They just completed the ride and they are about to open it relatively soon.
yup, we definitely will at some point!
There’s a Dirty Harry themed restaurant??!! 😂😂
Yes there is
The operations in this park have to be some of the worst in the world
The Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster... and the hype is real. It's one of the best Spooky trains i've ever been on, with a portion of the coaster going vertically backwards in pitch black darkness
I’ve been to Movie World the most out of any park and the atmosphere is laid back at times but when your going up to a big ride you can feel a shift in the atmosphere. It’s a great park, my favourite one I’ve been to.
For people wondering when the best time to go to the World's and other parks would be, I'd say in Autumn, early spring or late summer. In winter most likely it's going to be raining and even though crowds would be small due to schools running it's going to be cold and it'll be even colder on the rides. You might not care about that but I know a lot of people don't like waiting in the cold. Late spring is when all the Yr 12 graduates go on their end of school trip. It's called Schoolies and everyone usually gravitates towards Gold Coast and the parks during late November. The parks are usually packed during that period. In October it's a great time, even though it's packed they usually have all the rides open due to fright nights event, then early November they change all their decorations for Christmas. In early-mid summer everyone is on their summer break and people like going on Christmas holidays there. It's also topping the 30s-40s temperature-wise (around 100 Fahrenheit) and you'd most likely be melting in the heat in the long queues. I'd say wait until February because it's also cooler and children are back in school.
This, DreamWorld, and SeaWorld are the three parks in Australia that look like they're worth visiting the most. Are there any others I should know about?
Luna Park in St Kilda Melbourne has one of the most historic Roller Coasters in the world in Scenic Railway. Worth going to Melbourne just to experience at least once.
Luna Park Sydney and Adventure World Perth are the others worth mentioning.
Are you going too Lagoon for Primordial soon? I’m going Sunday!
I'm so happy my fellow Aussies and I have such an awesome park to go to. It's going to be mad exciting to see how the WoO area comes together.
Man I wish there was one of these in the US 😭😭
Love the vids and thank you for coming to England ❤
Sad that you couldn't go on Superman. It's probably my favourite in the park (DC Rivals is close behind). The launch caught me completely off guard when I first went on it, I felt like my soul was sucked out of my body. Also with scooby-doo they've already done heavy reno's on the ride before. Not entirely sure what they're changing about it this time, but the first edition of the ride was amazing. I was absolutely terrified of the ride when I was a kid. It's pitch black for most of it and it's like a wild mouse ride. I felt like I was going to fall off every time I rode it. It's also heavily themed, there used to be animatronics of scooby and scrappy doo but they replaced it with screens, which was a bummer.
Hey any idea when the SDC blog is coming out?
this week!
@@CoasterStudios that's awesome! I'm excited to hear what you and Sarah thought of my home park.
This is my home park. A shame you didn’t get to ride Superman. The launch is so intense, more than Top Thrill Dragster or Kingda Ka.
DC Rivals looks so crazy.
Can you give michigans adventure another shot sometime? You easily went on a bad day. Thunder hawk is actually good, and shivering timbers, barely even gets a line. If your in the last couple hours of the park, everybody is in the water park so you can just marathon and have the (I’m not exaggerating) whole train to yourself if it’s a Sunday or weekday. Even a SATURDAY sometimes
Are you gonna make a Toutatis review?
yes!
That Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster will be closed a while
i wish sixflags parks were this good
January is probably the best time to visit but just be warned that is the middle of our summer & not everyone is built for our 40-45 degree C days.
I think judging by how this park looks it is nothing compared to the level of detail that Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi that is a top 10 park for me maybe 1 or 2 it is that good.
Movie World has never been known for their great theming, though this could change with the Wizard of Oz land.
@@ThemeParkOgreIn the early days they were.
Batman: The Ride and the Looney Tunes River Ride had far better theming than their replacements.
As you yourself noticed, the Looney Tunes area is missing a good star attraction. That used to be the river ride housed in what's now the Mini Cars building.
Batman the ride, a Star Tours style attraction themed to 1992's Batman Returns and later the Animated Series, had the best ever pre-show section for any attraction in Australia. People miss that ride because the replacement just is nowhere near as enjoyable.
@@colliric You're not wrong! I remember both of those rides fondly. Same with Sea World down the road with Bermuda Triangle - some great world class attractions and theming
halloween is the best for riding a coaster at night at MW. dreamworld had the thunderbolt coaster that was so rough and jolting it screamed like a banshee
My friends and I got stuck on the scoobie doo ride on a high school trip and the bus was late getting home and my entire grade and all the teachers were super pissed off at us like we could somehow control a mechanical failure..
Hey it's my second home park. Looking forward to those new coasters!
Second home park? How many hours away is it? It takes you so long to get to it no wonder you are grumpy about Macks 😂
@@alantrotter2077 I'm grumpy at Macks because they're mostly mediocre. They could be so much better if they tried harder. Gold Coast is only about 4 hour flight away and it's actually cheaper to have a holiday there than in our own country.
@@marty_nz you enjoyed copperhead strike when you visited. We just need to get you back to Belgium to ride ride to happiness to get you aligned with the masses.
@@alantrotter2077 Copperhead Strike can be so much better though. Ride to Happiness just needs to fix their track engineering to handle those heavy trains and not vibrate your brain apart in the valleys. Surprisingly DC Rivals is actually pretty smooth for a Mack.
Funny when you said they were doing what they can with the looney toons land you put a "That's all Folks" sign shot in sequence with it haha. But all things aside i agree they absolutely did what they could.
By 2025, i dont think it will be in its prime at all lol. definately better than atm, but its prime was the early years, when there were lots of movie themed immersive rides and shows. Just like in the german park, there used to be a Gremlins Dark Ride, wich was sick and terrifying and incredibly well done. there also used to be an immersive looney tunes indoor boat ride (wich was also copied for the german park). There also used to be a version of the Batman Simulator Ride (wich you may have seen as "Time Riders" in Germany), and a really cool studio tram tour, wich ended with an interactive show in wich you could experience movie making first hand, watching live performed scenes and movie tricks in an actual sound stage (in the location where the superman coaster stands today).
I think they have lost their whole identity. there was also the police academy stunt show, wich was way better than hollywood stunt driver in literally any aspect.
the wizard of ozz addition feels soulless too. just 2 bare coasters and huge outdoor theming without any substance or detail. instead of this, they could use the money to build immersive themed indor rides again, instead of wasting it on huge empty building facades.
in comparison: movie park germany opened their studio tour indoor coaster just 2 years ago, and it was an hommage to all the classic movie rides. the stunt show is not that good as well, but still better than in australia. i would say while australia's coasters are way better than the german ones, overall the german version has better and more indoor rides, and i would say overall better actual ride theming, however the australian park has the better western area, and the kids area looks a little bit nicer, but thats mostly due to the fact that the german park had to tear their looney tunes land down because the building material didnt survive german weather conditions, so they had to build a whole new area from scratch within just 2 years, wich turned out to be a little bland.
i got to see all those batman props in 2013 at warner bros studios when i went to see Conan O'Brian
Highly recommend to ride the Superman, 9/10 ride. I was very lucky to ride the flash 5 days after it opened and it was fine, not to thrilling but still gets y’a hyped,
Also when you said the stunt show drivers were like Hollywood stunt drivers, that’s why “Hollywood stunt driver 2” is the goddamn name of the show
So is Lola Bunny there too?
Asking for a friend 👉👈
?
Had no idea. When think of Australia I think of crocodiles ..Maybe why they close so early. Lol
Used to be way better, more costumed characters, you'd see at least four theatrical and screened performances (e.g. a wild west show, a magic show, a bugs bunny show, a presentation about the film industry, and a 3d movie), more non-ride attractions used to exist. The studio tour was the best part, I saw them making the Street Fighter movie on the tour.
They park does look like a cool park
Why isn't this in America yet?
I got to ride Scooby-Doo before it closed it was crazy left hill, you ride backwards a little bit on it it was such s good coaster !!
My expectation was high.. I was disappointed.. place is small.. waiting time for the adult rides are 60-90 minutes which is insane.. doesn't even come close so Disneyland or even universal studios..
I have been here at least 23 times and never have gotten board of it same as sea world and wet and wild
i was the second group in the whole world to go on the flash the 10 minutes it opend up
Great review 👏
I might finally get to go to OZ!!
literally just spent my last day there
My local park!!!
yeah it's lame how they don't do a backlot tour anymore that's a main feature of other studio theme parks they used to even do a special effects tour showing you how they do superman and sound effects that should all still be there but the one thing that bugs me is with all the characters they have walking around there is no superman! he's the leader of the justice league your main character and he's not there! They are still stuck in the 90s with their batman and Catwoman versions from that era too c'mon there's been 3 other versions of that universe since then!
Been there 1998 to movie world
Is harry potter related photostops there???
My expectations were high.. and I was disappointed.. it doesn't compare with Disneyland or universal studios.. especially disappointed with the major rides.. waiting time is 60-90 minutes.. it's ridiculous..
An ok park but the operations if their rides are absolutely criminal
1 train ops and 4 minute dispatches on their coasters is insanely bad
Better than Parque Warner Madrid?
It's such a contrast to the US, where of course Six Flags has most of the Warner licenses (except for Harry Potter) and uses them in kind of a shambolic way. Great rides, at least sometimes, but the theming is cookie-cutter and mediocre at best.
What in the world is Movie World? It looks like such a random park to base a theme park on 😂
It's based on Warner bros movies
@@BlayzTube I know that but there are better choices lol
Love it!
Eh, probably not.
A Warner Bros theme park and no Harry Potter?
Crazy right?
Guys, I love your videos, and watched everything for the past few years.
But please...
Careful promoting fastpass/express jump the queue systems.
It's just bribery, imagine if everybody bought one, it would fail, it's literally accepting money to push in front of others, for every seat that gets taken by fastpass that day, means it may be somebody else who can't afford it won't get to experience it, and at a longer wait time to what would have been otherwise.
It's unfair, based on corporate greed, and needs to stop 😢
Very uninteresting merch
ehh
Recently ive seen that movieworld came out with a nawesome movieworld shirt WITH all the rides! if you ever go again, look out for that?
