Aussie follower of yours here....really appreciate you taking the time to do this review of the park and finally making it here to the Down Under (hope to see more reviews of the rest of the parks on the Gold Coast)....I'm sure you know but for those who don't the new Flash coaster is actually the Surf Rider that has been relocated from Wet 'N' Wild....Love that ride so much and am keen to ride it again now in its new location
you guys should revisit in the summer holidays (2025 at earliest when most construction is done) so you can experience Superman, Scooby, Flash, WoO, then the whole refurbed Dreamworld.
Good review! Movie World's a fun park, just often mired by awful operations. Scooby and Superman are both great coasters that you guys will love! and you're right about the subpar merch. 9:57 Small correction, Harry Potter was actually in a different area of the park; the Batman Legacy building used to be a wild west show back in the day.
I just got back from my Australia tour, and unfortunately this park just was not operating well when I visited. The staff are very nice, but only two coasters were open (DC Rivals and Road Runner Express), and everything had pretty brutal lines. I had a better day at pretty much every other park in Australia/NZ, with Dreamworld and Sea World both impressing me a lot, despite also being in transitionary periods. Hoping to get a redemption visit when everything new is added and open - I absolutely loved my visit to this country as a whole and definitely want to come back eventually.
Movie World is my favourite park (that I've been to) and easily the best in Australia. Superman and Scooby Doo are great coasters with incredible theming (superman is hands-down my favourite coaster in the country) and it's a really fun time. Although they could work on their operations, I love this park and I cannot wait to return.
Hey Taylor! Question I wanna ask you. Are you guys planning to ride Rookie Racer at Six Flags St Louis whenever that opens? They just completed the ride and they are about to open it relatively soon.
I first went to this park as a teenager in the early 90’s - not long after it opened. My impression of it back then was very underwhelming, and my least favourite out of the 3 main theme parks on the Gold Coast. Main problem was the very limited amount of rides and attractions. They had a Gremlins themed dark ride, a Batman themed pod with projections- (a bit like a flight simulator), it was fairly cool. They had a much better stunt show than the current one, and the log Flume ride in the Wild West area. No coasters. A few years later they opened up the first coaster at the park, which was the Lethal Weapon ride (after the movie of course), this was later turned into the Arkham Assylum coaster I believe, and from what you’ve said, that’s been closed down now too. Having visited the park a couple of times in recent years it’s been very pleasing to see it grow, and that the developers keep putting a lot of money and support into the park, because it’s getting really good now. It only took them 30 years.
It’s an awesome park but I think village roadshow isn’t doing an awesome job at managing the park, like you said, there’s not much merchandise, but the biggest problem with the park is extremely slow operations with most of there rides, especially dc rivals and green lantern. And the fast track for $180 is not worth it at all! You get 1 fast track ride on each of the 7 included rides, which is different to dreamworld which does an unlimited fast track for au$140. And you get access to more rides using dreamworlds fast track.
The Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster... and the hype is real. It's one of the best Spooky trains i've ever been on, with a portion of the coaster going vertically backwards in pitch black darkness
I’ve been to Movie World the most out of any park and the atmosphere is laid back at times but when your going up to a big ride you can feel a shift in the atmosphere. It’s a great park, my favourite one I’ve been to.
I'd suggest next time you go back down under you go around October. Go do the fright nights event at MW and at that time of year they usually have all of Coasters open. Not just MW, but at Seaworld and Dreamworld usually have all of theres open as well. Its also a time when they have better ops and more then one train running. Btw if y'all ever get stuck in Brisbane again without accommodation yall can stay in our spare room!
All the coasters in this park have something good to offer. Favourite to least favourite, DC Rivals, Superman Escapes, Green Lantern, The Flash, Roadrunner and Scooby Doo. Really looking forward to the new Wizard of Oz area opening soon.
I went on the joker. It was my first ever proper roller coast which is funny because it's actually a hypercoaster. But the green lantern I did a lot which was pretty fun. But I was very annoyed that the superman was closed which looked incredibly fun.
Hi there, yes , the Gordon family from Wentworth, South Africa , had the priviledge of visiting Warner Bros theme park on the Gold Coast in Australia during December 2010 . You are right on point with your information. Definately, a good review, thank you. Just make sure to find out about the White Christmas Event before Christmas , an experience never to be forgotten . We were fortunate to see the advert about this event on television. Our tickets were unlimited so one can visit the theme park everyday using the same ticket .We will make sure to return , God willing in 2025. We also visited the sea world , however, I still prefer the one in Cape Town , South Africa. Cheers.
Movie world is not affiliated with any other theme park like it. It’s a licensing park of WB trade marks owned by the Australian company Village Roadshow which I’m sure even Americans may recognise. They also own the Australian Sea World which has nothing to do with the US parks.
This, DreamWorld, and SeaWorld are the three parks in Australia that look like they're worth visiting the most. Are there any others I should know about?
Luna Park in St Kilda Melbourne has one of the most historic Roller Coasters in the world in Scenic Railway. Worth going to Melbourne just to experience at least once. Luna Park Sydney and Adventure World Perth are the others worth mentioning.

The Stunt show you watched actually used to be "The police academy stunt show" based off of the police academy films. It was much better than the current stunt show with a big shoot out as well as the police cars going crazy. I miss the police academy stunt show.
Used to be way better, more costumed characters, you'd see at least four theatrical and screened performances (e.g. a wild west show, a magic show, a bugs bunny show, a presentation about the film industry, and a 3d movie), more non-ride attractions used to exist. The studio tour was the best part, I saw them making the Street Fighter movie on the tour.
I think judging by how this park looks it is nothing compared to the level of detail that Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi that is a top 10 park for me maybe 1 or 2 it is that good.
