For sure. Homer Kolb is now relatively unknown, but he was a real pioneer. Probably should be credited with inventing the first stick-and-rudder airplane style true Ultralight. It pre-dated the hang glider derived Ultralights.

Never had that problem. When I pull it to start, it comes straight through the ring and doesn't rub. The ring is not meant to act as a pulley. There is a rubber cone on the handle that sits in the ring when flying. Does yours have the pulley between the engine and the ring?
@@19sloper yes i put in a pulley, you must be taller than me cause it rubs on the ring when i pull on it, I fixed it up with JB weld steel stik. how much play is there in the gearbox when you move the prop back and forth? does it click a little bit? can you hear it rattle a bit when it's idling?
I assume it is a B box you are asking about. Not much. A little movement at the prop tip due to backlash in the gears. No clicking. I have never adjusted the dampening washers in the gearbox. It may chatter at idle some, especially below 1800 or so. and if it is bad enough it will get hard to start. I've never had any trouble with one. I put 850 hours on my first one. My 503 has a C box, so has the rubber dampeners.
@@19sloper I had my idle too low that's why it was making that noise. I gotta get new choke plungers, they cause a lot of problems when they get old and leaky.

I have not weighed it, but Rotax publishes all the weights for the basic engine, gearbox, exhaust, carbs, etc so you can figure it out for what equipment you have. In addition to that stuff, I have a prop extension and propeller of course.
