I'm an architect, Madurai is my home town. The Madurai Meenakshi temple is the most beautiful. The scale, art, design ..time put in..it's pure passion, devotion and love .. one should really be there to witness, for the scale. this and brihadeeshwara temple in Tanjore., my inspiration from childhood..thank you for this:) can't wait for your reaction as I understand your passion towards art and history.. god bless you.

It will take atleast a million years to describe stunning Tamilnadu 😅
It's not a typical stereotypical India.
It's the land of the oldest language Tamil.
It's the land of the Temples and culture.
You can see Humongous Temples everywhere..
Meenakshi amman temple is an UNESCO world Heritage and under proposal for new 7 wonders..
Architecture we call it as Dravidian and no one call it as South Indian architecture..
Fun Fact : Tamilnadu got the highest number of Temples in the world.

Tajmahal was not an Islamic structure. There are several things which proves Tajmahal was not Islamic.
Even if we believe that it was Islamic and built by Shahjahan, then also the builders, architectures were Indian Hindus. They work so hard, they created blueprints for the Tajmahal. There is no contribution of Islam in the field of architecture, science, music, astronomy, arts etc.

People usually like to travel to places that are different from their home place. That said meenakshi Temple was sculpted by hand. In here we have have a 3 master's degree course to study these architectures in detail. The requirement for applying that is a bachelor's in tourism management. One of my friend got those degrees. It's always fascinating to see how people could achieve so many things without the help of proper tools. 😊

A lot of history gets lost to time. There are many technologies that have been lost or forgotten over time. It was recently found that the Norse used special sun stones do determine the direction of the sun and moon. The light was polarized as it passed through the stone which allowed them to determine the direction of the light from the moon or sun through clouds. The stone was a special type of quartz.

I heard some of the critics saying Elephants in temples must be banned and it's animal abuse. I am with all the animal right thing going on. I'm a vegetarian myself never ate meat in my entire life so I've some credibility to say this. This is not animal abuse nor eating meat (Although I'm against eating live animals like in some parts of the world and hunting). In fact these Elephants enjoy a lot of freedom compared to the animals in the zoo because people think they are sacred and they receive immense love from caretaker and others. They are mostly bought early so it's not like they are missing their habitat. Critics are confusing home cats with wild cats.

FYI, these line of temple in south India are very old. So do many other hindu temples in India are, like Konark sun temple in Odisha, Tanjore big temple in Tamil Nadu, etc. The guestimates of 7th century is ridiculous but that's what is convincing for the present belief system and academia. But the story of rebuilding over the old structure is very true. Many initial mosques in India were built over or around the then 'Hindu' temples for various reasons. Thanks Enjoyed watching

It is not a story but happened really.
A British collector named Rose Peter who was appointed as collector of Madurai during 1812 to 1828. Though he was being a christian he gave more importance to Hinduism and gave honor to Local practices. Lord Meenakshi Amman Temple was situated between his house and office. Everyday he used to go to office by his horse and when he crossing the temple, he get down from the horse by removing his hat and shoes and crossed whole path on his foot. Through this he expressed his reverence towards God. One day there was heavy downpour in the Madurai city. The collector was sleeping in house house, suddenly he was disturbed by the sound of anklets and he was leaving his bed to find from where the sound came. He saw a girl who was wearing precious ornaments and calling him as 'Peter come away'. By obeying he came out and follow her the running girl in the rain. Then he was shocked to see the building which was destroyed within a second. He turned aback and looked at the girl and on the instant she disappeared by running. On that second he saw that the girl ran without any shoes in her foot and with anklets. He realized and believed that Lord Meenakshi only saved his life. A few days later, he wished to give a gift to Lord Meenakshi, which should be a thing which was not available in the temple. To get an idea, he discussed with the priest of that temple and he ordered to make a pair of golden shoes for Lord Meenakshi. His name was sculpted as "peter" at the bottom of shoes.
Still they were safeguarding the shoes in the temple and every year at the time of 'chitra Festival', utsava moorthy of Lord Meenakshi wears that shoe. This is the real incidence happened for the respect given to the Hindu God by the collector.

Try looking at SriRangaPatnam! Its an entire city inside the Temple Complex. The lights inside the temple towers at 9 : 45 were and are used a signal to tell people they were closer to a city and a temple. This holds true for All Hindu temple as they were usually at the very centre of the city .
