Thank you for this information, I just bough the Durston 55 and want to modify to the pack for my way of backpacking. This video will help in the modification that I'm interested in doing.
Superior Wilderness Designs has some clip on side straps and clip on top Y straps of various sizes for some backpack brands. I grabbed some Y straps for my ULA packs. LiteAF also has some clip on side straps to add to their packs. Mainly just gotta check the strap width and like you said, find a mating buckle and all is golden.
You mean the small grosgrain loops that Durston uses as attachment points? Worked fine on my recent back to back tour of Peaks of the Balkans and Tour du Mont Blanc. I always used the top to side compression as the V-strap buckle broke during the flight.
Thank you for doing this video, and the sources. Great modifications
That's a great idea. I'm going to use my Kakwa as a day pack today. These extra straps would be really helpful for smaller loads.
Thank you very much for the adventure expert tip! Very usefull for me as I make a lot of gear myself.

I ordered everything from adventure expert who is located in Slovenia. Very quick ship and delivery.
Thank you so much for that tip!! Very useful as it can be tough to find DIY items in Europe.
Great idea! Thanks!

This looks like a great mod, I want to try it out! Any specifics on the dyneema cord loops, did you also get them from adventureexpert?
Any dyneema will do. I used some from either adventureexpert or extremtextil and some reflective ironwire from Durston.
Nice THe big question is how well those loops will hold over time and under tension
