My FARTHEST Shot on a Mule Deer (You Might be Surprised!)

- You might be surprised just how far of a shot I'm willing to take on a wild animal. I practice out to 120 yards all year long to improve my effective range as I never want to make an animal suffer from a bad shot because of my ignorance or lack of ability. I constantly tinker with my set up to achieve the best bow/arrow tune and maximum forgiveness possible. That does not justify myself to shoot at an animal at such a distance. As ethical bowhunters, we all have to make decisions on the shots we are willing to take. For me, if I'm not 100% confident in making a perfect shot, I'm not taking it. What's your choice?

Thank you! It’s ironic, as I always strive to get as close as possible and I almost hesitated to even take this shot even though I know I can make it. I just know that my odds for a quicker/cleaner kill go up the closer I get. I just want to encourage other hunters that riskier/far shots aren’t needed to be successful hunting western game. Getting close is more fun anyway!
I like the way you appreciate and worship the life of the animal. I am only an archer no hunter because one one side bowhunting is forbidden in most of Europe especially in Germany where I live on the other hand I‘m not sure if I would have the guts to kill a creature. But I like and understand your way of hunting. In Germany we say: „Weidmannsheil“
Weidmannsheil! I’ve spent some time with work taking hunters in Poland and Austria and it’s sad to me to know that they do not allow bowhunting in their countries. The animals we hunt always have our utmost respect, and we must never take them for granted.

Thanks! Wrist strap executed like a resistance release. I prefer the resistance release for hunting, but I forced myself out of my comfort zone this past year to try to grow.
