When I was teenager In the 1990's, SuperBoy and The Adventures of SuperBoy (1988-1992) Starring Actors: John Haymes Newton and Gerald Christopher was One of My Favorite TV shows when I was younger !
I watched this show every day. Back then tv would play the National anthem and shut down. And come back around 4:30am or 5am. Depending on the channel.
I don't care what any idiot says. This was a damn good and fun show to watch. And Lois and Clark coming in one year later can be seen as a great follow up.
“Rocketed from a distant planet, to a bold new destiny on Earth. Found by a Kansas family and raised him as ‘Clark Kent.’ He learned he possessed the super strength of steel, the speed of light and the desire to help all mankind. He is..SUPERBOY!”
I think its because it became forgotten after it was canceled because of the lawsuit filed by WB after that the show wasn't rerun because of that I feel it got forgotten.
It was due mainly to how WB filed the lien against the show ever airing in reruns once it finished it's 4 season run that made it near impossible to remember if you hadn't watched it when it originally aired. Hell, it wasn't until 2006 when Superman Returns came out that the show finally was available to watch again (at least the first season at the time). The later seasons did eventually come out via Amazon's On Demand service finally later too.
Warner Bros was already well into the planning stages of what would become LOIS AND CLARK and didn't want their new series to have to compete with another Superman series, so they slapped the Salkinds with a "cease and desist" order effectively killing Superboy and cancelling the Salkinds plans to spin the tv show off into a series of Superman TV Movies. As to why the series never aired in reruns it did for a time in England and Europe but never in the US. Apparently there were distribution rights issues between the Salkinds, Warner Bros, and Viacom that prevented the series from ever airing in syndication after it's initial run.
I remember watching this when I was a kid. As far as I can recall, it used to come on every Saturday evenings at 6:30 PM here in Detroit right after the television sitcom version of Harry and the Hendersons. John Newton played Superboy in I believe the first two seasons, and Girard Christopher played Superboy in the last two seasons.
Disputes over ownership rights kept reruns from ever airing, which weren’t settled until 2005. Then, it took YEARS for the better seasons (2-4) to get a long overdue release. Luckily, all four seasons are available on DVD and streaming on Amazon👍🏻
I remember watching this show every Saturday night on fox at 6:00 at least in Florida that was the station that played it in it's original run plus it was filmed in my home town of Orlando memories.
I Never knew this show existed, but around that time period, I was working a lot & guess I never saw it because of that. I've got to check it out, hope the series was good!
Ah 80s/90s opening credits and special effects, I watch this with half nostalgia and half cringe 🤣🤣🤣 Also look at the evolution of the leading lady's hair! 😁
In 1988 (one year after the present Sunshine Skyway Bridge opened to traffic), the views of both the Old Sunshine Skyway and the New Sunshine Skyway were seen in the Season 1 intro of the Superboy Television series (which is based on DC Comics character Superman {in his preteen and teenage years as Superboy}). This started and finished before the demolition of Old Sunshine Skyway in 1993 as the Superboy TV series ended its run about one year before the bridge demolition in 1992.
Omg this was my favorite as a kid, & I had a huge crush on John Haymes Newton (the better of the 2!). It came on Saturday evenings, followed by My Secret Identity, another show I adored
Newton was a better Clark and just looked better as Superboy versus Gerard IMO. I can't be the only one that hated Gerards uber nerd take on Clark as well as his lisp when talking as Superboy.
That season 1 intro had a huuuuuuuuuuuge effect on me as a kid. It's so simple and relatable to a kid. He's just flying around, checking out some bridge. He's not fighting anyone and no one's in trouble, we're not introducing characters or dwelling on plot. the dude can FLY. Might as well fly around and check some stuff out!
The only thing that hurt the series, was Ian Mitchell Smith's character, in Season 2. He was that typical and annoying "friend", that tried get rich quick schemes. Other than he, Season 2 was good. Introduced traditional villains, as Metallo and Bizarro.
TJ, the photographer was a much better sidekick for Clark. Buy season three I guess the producers realize they didn’t need the third friend in the Clark Lana team. I guess they were trying to parallel, Lois, Clark and Jimmy Olsen
That first intro showed the Sunshine Skyway bridge in St Petersburg, FL.. Also you could still see the old bridge that collapsed in 1980... Now that is a fishing pier.
I'd actually forgotten about this show until today, but I remember watching it and enjoying it as a kid. It's a shame it's not on any streaming services. Again UK don't have the first season on DVD, the other seasons cost £35-55 each.
As big of a Superman fan that I am. Until I got the new dc universe app I don't think I remember this show. And now reading the comments on here is making me feel better that I wanted to see what is was about before watching it. Who knows, maybe one day I will be so board I might try to watch the first episode
Yo tenía 10 u 11 años cuando daban esta serie y la adoraba. Estaba tan enamorada de superboy que sufría cuando no me dejaban verla. Aun tengo la esperanza de conseguirla completa y verla otra vez.
After the show ended in 1992, re-runs of the Superboy series were NOT aired neither throughout the rest of the 1990s due to a copyright issue between Warner Bros. and the Salkinds. Notice that this series didn’t even get a VHS release like many other shows did at that time. To my understanding I have heard that by early 2002-03 Superboy was broadcasted on cable systems in the UK. The rights issues were finally resolved later on and the series was officially released on DVD in 2006-07.
@@SuperJmoney92 They played part of this song in the background when Dick Grayson/Nightwing helped Conner Kent/Sueprboy overcome the mind control he was under and flew.
Trivia Facts : Superboy and Lois And Clark : The New Adventures of Superman was supposed to be a spin off..bridged connection..basically where superboy becomes a Superman..in addition Gerard Christopher(season 2-4)..was cast as Superman for the series however when the producers recognized/realized he had played the character before they replaced him with Dean Cain..
Something I never thought about was that only a year after Superboy ended Stacy Haiduk starred in Seaquest which aired opposite Lois and Clark. Initially seaQuest got higher ratings because it was running on the Star Trek bandwagon But as the year ended viewers began to see Lois and Clark was a much better show. The first season of seaquest was so bad Stacy and Stacy and severs other cast members were not invited back for season two Which ironically was even worse. It seemed the show finally was getting act together by season three but by then it was too late and viewers didn’t wanna give it a chance
En Colombia lo emitió rti en las tardes de los domingos, que enorme diferencia con la televisión actual, que está plagada de chismes y farándula todo el fin de semana y faltan estas series tan entretenidas en su tiempo
As a hardcore comics fan kid in the 80s I loved this show. Yes the acting was corny and the effects too but to be honest if this was to rerun on tv if sit and happily watch it again.
Rocketed from a distant planet, To a bold new destiny on earth, Found by a Kansas family and raised as Clark Kent, He learned he possessed the strength of steel, The speed of light, And the desire to help all of mankind, He is... Superboy!

How this show aired for four seasons and I’ve never seen a frame of it is inconceivable…
It was so good.
I remember it. So do many others as evident by this thread
I watched this show every day. Back then tv would play the National anthem and shut down. And come back around 4:30am or 5am. Depending on the channel.
In my city this aired on Sunday mornings. But I did forget about this show until the DVDs were released in the 2000s.
I'm literally looked this up because I was like ain't no way there is a 100 episode superman show no one talks about lol
Stacy Haiduk now played Kristen Dimera/Susan Banks on "DAYS OF OUR LIVES."
I still remember this intro music.. Used to watch this when i was a little kid..
That Season 1 intro is probably the most 80's Superman theme ever made.
Hell yeah!
Yes.. Theme song very cool
When I was a boy , I played Superboy because this program was popular in that time
I don't care what any idiot says. This was a damn good and fun show to watch. And Lois and Clark coming in one year later can be seen as a great follow up.
I love this show, too.
“Rocketed from a distant planet, to a bold new destiny on Earth. Found by a Kansas family and raised him as ‘Clark Kent.’ He learned he possessed the super strength of steel, the speed of light and the desire to help all mankind. He is..SUPERBOY!”
The real "SMALLVILLE", for me.
It was pretty good, to be honest. I've met Gerard Christopher recently. He is a cool guy.
Just finished ordering SUPERBOY THE COMPLETE SERIES on Blu-ray disc TODAY arrives NEXT week so excited
Blue-ray disc, where?
How is it possible that this show lasted 4 seasons and was popular in its time but today nobody remembers it :/

because this series is bad and suck
ill never forget it
There is nothing cooler (and more 90s) then the image of Clark riding a skateboard and ripping open his shirt to reveal the \S/
I remember watching this when I was a kid. This show was syndication GOLD right here!!!!!
I can’t believe the Syfy channel never showed reruns of this.

Loved this series. Wish someone would air them again.
TUBI
Terimakasih sudah menemani masa kecilku 🙂
I was in 6th grade when this show came out. Totally loved it and still do.
One of the reasons I love this show, they actually had A redhead for Lana Lang. I wished this show had A crossover with Smallville.
Probably inspired by the redhead that played Lana in Superman three
The first song (the first two intros) are still my favourite song of a superhero series ever.
I remember watching this show every Saturday night on fox at 6:00 at least in Florida that was the station that played it in it's original run plus it was filmed in my home town of Orlando memories.
I love this show and I was bought all seasons and I take my time watching them so I can enjoy it
I had the biggest crush on Stacy Haiduk, she still looks good.
Still do
Easy there, Romeo
she looks good
Last time I saw her was in True Blood. Totally different character lol
Only a year after Superboy ended she would star in a show that ran opposite Lois and Clark
80s syndicated TV was the best.
I WAS BORN IN 1983 HOW DON'T REMEMBER THIS SHOW
I like it very much ❤
La Infancia De Superman🦸♂️😌👍🌤
A very underrated superhero TV series.
Great show. I still love it till today
Same sir ❤
I Never knew this show existed, but around that time period, I was working a lot & guess I never saw it because of that. I've got to check it out, hope the series was good!
i can't even start to tell how much i loved this show - was so depressed it got cancelled
+SimsMoyal - Agreed the 1980s and 1990s were the best for TV Shows. The 2000s was the beginning of the end! Too much Reality nonsense.
I loved this show.
Superboy, The Flash, Sliders... 90's TV was AWESOME!!!
I love this show too
@Lazy Mastermind spot on!!
This show was so 90s it's incredible.
Ah 80s/90s opening credits and special effects, I watch this with half nostalgia and half cringe 🤣🤣🤣 Also look at the evolution of the leading lady's hair! 😁
I remember this is one of my favorite TvSeries. I like the series with John Haymes Newton and Gerard Christopher.
I remember watching this as a kid but never caught the Miami Vice Feel to the first intro till now lol.

3:21, 4:07, 4:54 - The title was renamed "THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERBOY" for seasons 3 and 4.
I really enjoyed this series as a kid brings back good memories thanks for the upload
I do remember
I just got all four season's off itunes for $9.99 a piece it was nice to revisit this show :)
0:15 "Whoa! Bein' Superboy is totally rad!"

The second intro in this video (the one that starts at 0:40) was the best -- both visually and in regards to the music arrangement.
Me encanta superboy❤ PAPASITO
I honestly did not know this show existed til fb just showed Something on it hahaha
Love the soundtrack
Same sir ❤
Menyenangkan. Ketika kecil suka menonton film Superboy di televisi

This is a job for Superboy!
This is Superboy Prime
I was 2 1/2 when I watched this show with my Grandpa Leo Duley. Miss you Grandpa.
This Show is Incredible
I was 18 when I saw the first episode. Stacy Haiduk was my biggest crush!!!!❤😘
Superbly is my favorite Tbsp show
Put this on H and I
That first intro showed the Sunshine Skyway bridge in St Petersburg, FL.. Also you could still see the old bridge that collapsed in 1980... Now that is a fishing pier.
I used to watch this back to back with My Secret Identity.
YESSSS! I thought I was the only one!
Me too!! And 'Out of This World'.
I'd actually forgotten about this show until today, but I remember watching it and enjoying it as a kid. It's a shame it's not on any streaming services. Again UK don't have the first season on DVD, the other seasons cost £35-55 each.

Loved this show as a kid. Comic fans these days don't know how good they have it with so many tv and movie options.
Great show.

As a life long superman fan I don't remember this at all Google here I come
Both this along with "Lois & Clark" are zillion times better than the current CW shows!

I was surprised the Syfy channel never showed reruns of it
They reran once thru our local Fox affiliate channel 32 in Chicago after its first run. Then it disappeared thereafter.
I love how Titans makes a homage to this theme.
Wait what?

I loved this show
God damn! Makes Lois & Clark look tame by comparison.

4:20 I possess the speed of steel and the strength of light.
Love this show 👽🤟
I was 3 when this show premiered.
I cant lie from 1988-1992 I remember Wonder Years , Growing Pain, Charles in Charge, but I don't remember this to save my life.
MUY CIER🦸♂️🌍🌤TO

Rank the Superman/Superboy shows from Best to worst.
When I am small
I am believe if he can fly.
I was a fan of this show it had The Yellow Peri!!!
Loved this show as a kid, Now looking back at it as an adult, I wonder what the hell was I thinking? These people couldn't act to save their lives.
but as a child it doesn´t bother one if they didn´t got an Oscar....damn it was superboy ;)
And as a 'kid', you were expecting, "Masterpiece Theatre" maybe!?!
Least they seemed to be loyal to the comic books, these days it's all about making money.
Ryan Davis 😂😂😂😂
As a hardcore comics fan kid in the 80s I loved this show. Yes the acting was corny and the effects too but to be honest if this was to rerun on tv if sit and happily watch it again.
Como En las Peliculas De Superman👊👊🦸♂️😌
Hmmmm... 🤔 How could I have not heard of this show when I was a boy? Prob. too many other things to watch on tv at the time...
I have this on DVD. Muahahahaha :-)
Loved this show cause used the Reeve style suit.
The opening at 2:01 is the best one.
Totally my favorite
One of my favorite episodes was when superboy fought the werewolf
I used to watch this all tbe time. Next to Superman starring Christopher Reeves-I thought this was a very good show
love it until today
Rocketed from a distant planet,
To a bold new destiny on earth,
Found by a Kansas family and raised as Clark Kent,
He learned he possessed the strength of steel,
The speed of light,
And the desire to help all of mankind,
He is... Superboy!
