This game features the King's Indian Defense classical main line, with Eugene's favorite 5...Na6 (is 5...0-0 then 6...Na6 better?) Focus quickly shifts to how the knight on the rim can quickly come to a better square, commonly c5, where it puts direct pressure on e4 and d3. The main move of 8.Be3 is examined along with Black's plan of 8...Ng4, attacking the bishop. Eugene is keen on 9. Bg5 with ...Qe8, which sets White some problems at e4. Of course Na6 defends c7. Eugene's enthusiasm for ...f6 attacking a Bishop at g5 is instructive for players with any level of chess ability.

As always in lectures of this kind, I got hopelessly lost in all of the variations!!
May I recommend to replay? 🤓
I tried this line with Judit Polgar, she played 8 Bg5 after e5 and I made a mistake for not playing immediately 8.... h6, followed by Ng4. Instead I played 8...Qe8 and she got some advantage taking in e5 and then Nd5. My knight in a6 was marginalized for most of the game.
I don't understand all these strategies: do they require that your opponent makes specific moves or can they applied in any situation? Also, if it's the first option, are these strategies designed to force the opponent to make the required moves or perhaps fool him into making the moves? And if it is based on deceit and distractions, wouldn't that make it recognisable and hence useless when playing against more experienced players? I've always known how to play, but just now am I getting interested!
sebthefalcon You can memorize some lines, but you can't memorize all lines, so the most important is to understand ideas and plans to play correctly whatever position on the board.
sebthefalcon The most important thing is to understand the strategical ideas, so that you can play correctly no matter what moves your opponents make. And remember, any move based on deceit is probably a bad move.
In short, white is not the only one who can offer material and take the initiative. =)
Exactly!
at 3:40 there is no trap simply play Rf1 =
smashu2 Yes, you're right. But black is fine after ...Rf1
