I love seeing a unique team get played and not just meta or legendary spammers. Nice battle!

Personally, I prefer the final battle against Champion Steven.

You are going to be surprised that Steven wasn't what Game Freak wanted as Hoenn League Champion.

The bulk up-strenght Blaziken caught me off guard. After all carrying 3 out of 4 elite four is enought to ask i think lol. And the chad Relicanth finishing the fight was very good.
    Nice battle!

I consider Wallace a great underdog champion. Not that many people expected Wallace to become Hoenn League Champion. It was a shocking reveal to many people that Wallace became Hoenn League Champion in Emerald. Personally, I can't blame Game Freak giving Wallace his Champion title in Emerald. I'm cutting Wallace some slack because we're never going to see another Pokèmon League Champion specialize in the most common Pokèmon type ever again. Face it, it was inevitable people were eventually going to face a Water-type Pokèmon Champion. Many of Wallace's Pokèmon are super effective against Steven's Pokèmon anyway and Steel-type moves are not very effective on Water Pokèmon. It's a shame not that many people cut Wallace any slack as Champion only because he specializes as Water-type Pokèmon. In my opinion, Wallace is the best of the underdog Pokèmon League Champions. Can't say the same about Trace though.

A shock? Indeed, but you can wipe the whole team with a good grass and electric type. Stevens team needed a little more variety to counter since he had non steels on his team too

Was anyone else caught off guard playing emerald for the first time and seeing Wallace as the champion? I had my team fully prepared to take on Steven 😂😅

yeah, I totally can see that happening, but in my case, I played Emerald before Ruby/Sapphire😅

It was inevitable, but I'm happy it happened. I will admit, not that many expected to see a Water-type Pokèmon League Champion. Emerald may be the Hoenn equivalent of Pokèmon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, but having Wallace as Pokèmon League Champion was a very interesting twist. Face it, many of Wallace's Pokèmon are super effective against Steven's Pokèmon and Wallace doesn't rely on brute force. I can see that Game Freak made Wallace's team in Emerald a harder version of Steven's Pokèmon Ruby and Sapphire Champion team. As it seems, Game Freak has intended to make Wallace as Hoenn League Champion because that's what I think they had intended to do in the first place. Watching PokeHound's Champion Challenge videos, Wallace gave more of a challenge in the Pokèmon League than Steven did. It was surprising to see Wallace as the Champion in Emerald because we're not used to Water-type Pokèmon League Champions and Wallace's team isn't reliant on brute force. The plot twist of Wallace being the true Hoenn League Champion was unexpected to many people, and I see that, but I can't blame Game Freak giving Wallace his time to shine as Champion in the Pokémon League. Sure Steven is the Pokèmon League Champion in most Hoenn games, but I feel like that Steven is too easy. Steven relies on brute force when he fights whereas Wallace takes the slow and steady approach plus will catch you off guard if you only rely on a Grass-type or Electric-type move. Being familiar with the Hoenn games, if Steven is Champion, almost all of the fully evolved Hoenn starters will wipe off most of Steven's team. If Wallace is Hoenn Champion, almost every starter will be a bad matchup against Wallace's Pokèmon team. The only fully evolved starter that is good against Wallace's Pokèmon team is Sceptile. You may think Wallace is too easy, but you'll be caught off guard if you get away thinking about it. For Steven, he's too easy. His team is brute force, and you'll have plenty of Pokèmon to get over his highly defensive team. For Wallace, you'll have to think carefully because his Water-type Pokèmon can catch you off guard due to them having status and stat raising moves. Steven had no intention of becoming Pokèmon League Champion because all he cares about is finding rocks and minerals. Although many people find it hard to believe that Game Freak had no intention of making Steven Stone as Hoenn League Champion, Game Freak preferred Wallace because Wallace doesn't rely on brute force. Besides, Wallace took the Champion title more seriously and Steven wasn't concerned about being Pokèmon League Champion. I will admit it, many people including you had no idea that Steven wasn't intended to become Hoenn League Champion and Game Freak has intended to have Wallace become Champion. I think that many people are confused about their preferred Hoenn League Champion because they didn't know that Game Freak wanted to have Wallace become Hoenn League Champion. What led to the confusion was that Pokèmon players didn't understand that Steven's intention in the Pokèmon universe was that he was focused on collecting rocks and minerals. Steven wasn't concerned about becoming Pokèmon League Champion and didn't want to become Champion in the first place. You may believe that Wallace becoming Hoenn League Champion was a lie, but that's what Game Freak has intended to do.

That happened to me! I was ready to face Steven's Skarmory so I sent my Magcargo first, ignoring that my enemy would be Wailord and its water sprout lol
