It's impossible to listen to any of Boyce symphonies without feeling happy.
Billy Boyce must have been a very happy soul. His music always delights and lifts the spirit.
I have always thought that the third movement is one of the most charming pieces of music that I have ever heard. Thank God for classical music.
Such an uplifting composer, pity his music is not played more frequently.
Possibly the shortest, probably the best, symphony in the world. I'm running through fields of nodding notes! Thanks for posting this gem.
Thank you for your kind comments. So glad you enjoyed this!
Such joyful music. I think this is my favourite symphony of his.
As someone wrote here, "pity his music is not played more frequently". We can change this. Copy the TH-cam link and send it in emails to friends and family, post it on your Facebook page, etc... give people the opportunity to listen to it.
I am very lucky - I will be playing (second violin) in it in a three day workshop course this week at Benslow in Hitchin.
I think this is my favorite of Boyce's symphonies. Thanks for sharing.
A big thanks to you all guys, this track realy gives me wings an ecstacy to the soul. chapeau bas
So glad you enjoyed the performance 😃
MOST EXCELLENT.... even though I'm performing a rendition for Trpt and Organ..... THIS performance, in its original voicing, is extremely good in all ways Boyce !!
Thank you for your kind comments - glad you enjoyed this. All the best with your trumpet/organ version!
the same here mate by far the best an ecstasy to the soul.
OMG!!!!!!,this sounds like AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!
Very enjoyable. thank you so much for a lovely rendition,. I have watched this several times.
So glad you're enjoying this!
Most enjoyable. Thank you.
Boyce's best, IMH. The Christmas setting is perfect (I've always listened to this work in November, as a sort of "pre-Christmas" favorite). I've conducted the Boyce #4 on 3 occasions, and would do it again without hesitation. Especially love the 2nd (middle) movement (3:35). I added a few repeats, since the heavenly music needs to go on longer (the 2nd Violins needed to play out a bit, though, in this performance). Tempo in the first movement is a tad sleepy here...but it's much better than if it were too fast. LR
!Que hermosura!
I am playing this for orchestra
So pretty
4:57 my favorite part💗
nice
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
BEAUTIFUL....tempo is just a tad slow for me compared to Sir Trevor Pinnock...but lovingly played!!!!!
I respectfully disagree about the tempo. I think that there has been too much of an emphasis on fast in Baroque and Classical music in the last 40 years.
I’m a first violin for symphony no. 4 and this sounds a bit different then my piece at strathmore.....interesting
Your first violin, the first violins have the harmony but that is not always prominent in the actual piece
Playing this soon! Unfortunately, it's a simplified version for youth orchestra.
