Rugby league has the biggest hits as that’s the object of the game, to tackle and stop the play with body hitting body from any angle, And the majority of the game is both teams running at each other in close quarters. With less space to run around.
My brother played first grade RL for ten years as a forward, and was badly injured only once, that in a spiteful illegal 'tackle' that was a knee to the face from a defender after my brother had crossed for a try to seal the team's win. One of those 'poor guys' was my nephew.
Shoulder charges are illegal, that is why you may have heard the ref blow his whistle (penalty) after some of those tackles. The tackler has to make some effort to wrap one or both arms around the ball carrier. Spear tackles (or pile drivers as they were known back in the day) where one or more defenders pick up the ball carrier and drive him into the ground head or shoulder first are also illegal. They invariably end up with the tackler in the sin bin for 10 minutes or sent off altogether. Many of these tackles did result in concussions, which saw players (both tackler and ball carrier) taken off for some or all of the rest of the game. CTE is becoming matter of increasing concern among the game's Administrators. Some very high profile former players are coming out publicly to say they are have been diagnosed with CTE.
League is far superior to Union. It's a lot faster and spectacular. When League split from Union it was because League went professional, so they've spent over 100 years making rule changes to make the game faster and more appealing to the fans. Some of the more Dangerous tackles you see here are outlawed now eg swinging arm, head knocks... too many bad concussions
Most of those hits would be illegal in to-days games And would either draw a penalty or 10 mins in the sin bin or even a send off.
Evens out old time slower game less rules now days more rules but faster so impacts probs harder an more professional
This sport will have 1000’s of legal lawsuits in a about 2030. Get paid a couple of millions and then die at 40.
Instead of just watching highlights watch a full game and see the flow
The difference between NRL and AFL, If you have 3 sons that play AFL, you really have 3 daughters. AFL is more for the softies down south.
@@bodycountplays2915 the injury lists tell a different story, league contact is overrated
What a laugh. There are 100 more better hits than this list. Who put the clip together
It's very simple really, NRL has Polynesian players (heaps of them). AFL doesn't. End of discussion! NRL is by far tougher.
Let's not bring race into it. I agree NRL is tougher, because it is. The athletes have to endure more physicality game after game.
@@jvvoid The injury lists prove AFL takes a bigger toll on the body. League contact is overrated, it’s front on and it’s not collision
@@macdac9861 Yeah, 'injury lists', whatever, very scientific source quote. Maybe you can be even more vague next time.
@@jvvoid what do you mean vague? It couldn’t be more scientific, objective, factual take your pick. One sport having a longer more varied list of injuries clearly shows it takes a greater toll on the body. What is your argument against it?
@@macdac9861 Some of your varied injuries are low grade, inconsequential, and not match related.
AFL is limp never any hits to busy punting ball like zesty boys NRL is for fellas AFL for Melbourne Mexicans
