Hi guys, just wanted to clarify, there is a provincial level, in South Africa Kolbe played for the Stormers, baed in the Western Cape, he also played provincial or state level rugby in France, but you are then selected to play for your country, in this case South Africa, AKA The Springboks, the national team. So you can change your franchise but will always be a South African and play for the Springboks.
How does club rugbt work in SA? I don't know much, the bulls, sharks, stormers, only play n europe and not in the national league? And before that, they only played in super rugby?
I don't think anyone would get upset if you say Kolbe is the Messi of Rugby I think most would agree, got so much love for Kolbe he's 2 time world cup champion he's my Goat❤

The Springboks are the national rugby team with players chosen from the different clubs. His local rugby club was the Stomers. He went on to play club rugby in France. He's currently playing club rugby in Japan. They play for the Springboks when they are selected to represent the country.
Nic is correct, Mookie. Cheslin Kolbe is the Lionel Messi of World Rugby 🏉. No lie at all. I love your content, gents. Much love and support from South Africa 🇿🇦
Yeah, I'm from Cape Town and the same ethnic group as Kolbe and I see the young boys in our communities run and sidestep like he does naturally. It's just in them.
Ardie Savea and Marlie Packer were the World Rugby Players of the Year for 2023. International players don't just play for their nations. They all have a "day job'. They play for clubs too. It's kind of like playing for a top notch College team in American Football and then turning around and playing in the NFL too. That's the Stormers, a SA club side. Yes that was Eben you saw there. When playing with their clubs they will play both with and against other International players from their own and possibly other national teams.
Rugby works just like soccer/football where you have provincial teams within a country, so Kolbe played for the Stomers in SA, then left to play in France, just like for example Ronaldo leaving his local team in Portugal to go play in Spain etc.
Great dude! Grew up just a short while from me and he was quick growing up. He's an inspiration to us. Yeah, I think he is the Messi of Rugby. That little "Springbok jump" just before he fires the jets... that's iconic, and allows him to "hit the ground running". A Springbok in the wild does something similar.

Rugby is played at club level and at national level in the professional format. When you see him in the green and gold or the white and light blue these are his national colours playing for South africa, in the beginning he used to play for the Stormers a club in South Africa but later on took a deal with a French team playing in red or white or black and red. But he only ever plays at national level for South Africa
Lads, I enjoy your reactions, what you miss is the nuances and the size of the occasions in which this magic happens. As a rugby purest watching his mastery brings tears to the eye. Would love to give you a proper run down of why this is so significant. Peace.
The springboks is the national team - the green and gold. The blue and white is “the Stormers” which is his club team. It is equivalent to playing basketball for your club (I.e the Brooklyn Nets) and your country (I.e the USA dream team)

You can't just get back up in rugby unless you bounce out of a tackle or a tackler cant hold on to you for whatever reason and you only fall over because of physics. A tackler in rugby MUST use his arms and make every effort to clench them around the person they are attempting to tackle, therefore if they can't do that, either the forces are too great or its a desperate tackle and they don't quite get the player, then its essentially an incomplete tackle, therefore the player can stand up again and continue running. Now there is a second method the ball carrier can use to get back up buts its pretty difficult to pull off; if the ball carrier is tackled to the ground and the tackle is complete (ie. All fully tacken to the ground) then the ball carrier can release the ball quickly and then pick it up again and run... this sound easy but it is not for a number of reasons, for instance, if in that act, the ball travels even just slightly forwards (and with the momentum when releasing the ball that happens quite easily) possession will be awarded to the opposition or usually supporting defenders are right there ready to pounce on a loose ball and so on. If you watch carefully I think you actually see Colbe actually does let go for a tiny moment and regather, he probably didnt need to because he wasnt held but the sharper payers do it instinctively.
It's amazing that south Africa played 2 less world cups because of apartheid and still won more world cups that than the all blacks and Australia they are just a different team when it comes to championship matches coz they never lost a final
