This kind of fan base doesn't exist anymore because the Overwatch Team made absolutely 0 efforts to encourage or grow or develop that part of the fanbase. They've focused so much of their dedication and time to balancing the game while rarely providing actual content and new different ways to experience OW and appealing to more a more casual audience instead of those who want to just play the game Competitively

And to think they could solve everything about game balance by having a competitive balance and a quickplay balance. You already split the queues, let the casuals play the actual casual game mode and let the tryhards play with settings that work for them. Everybody wins.

@@kingauther7812 Ok. Then ig the large massive fanbase OW used to have just disappeared by itself. I suppose I'm just being a baby, I'm sure OW totally isn't just barely hanging onto relevancy because of the awful decisions made by the dev team. Yeah....I'm just whining.

I half agree and half disagree. The the type of things that were being released (cinematics, short comics etc.) Built on the world and expanded character lore to make the heroes feel much more alive. Then we had the drought and that was about the time the communities started giving up. The world stopped being fun and that wasn't really cause the dev's were doing balances and other in game related things cause a good number animators remained active up until like roughly 2 years into the drought. I dont see any of them willing to come back to OW2 though cause most of the characters have been basically flanderized and the new characters (comparably) feel much more lifeless than the original designs of older characters. The game lost it's heart. Dont blame balancing though, if there wasn't balancing this game wouldnt spawn any love in the first place cause it wouldnt be a fun game for anyone.

If I'm being honest, these are not all that good fan animations, both animation-quality wise and storytelling wise. I'm pretty sure the majority of good Overwatch fan animations are all geared towards a "different" type of content...
