  • Tiny, mighty, and affordable, the JD-Xi puts a true analog synth engine, Roland’s famous SuperNATURAL synth sounds, and many other creative tools under one hood. Equipped with 37 mini keys, this compact instrument delivers fat, warm analog bass and lead tones with ample controls for hands-on tweaking, plus polyphonic PCM essentials like pads, strings, brass, and more. Create impressive loops in a flash with the pattern sequencer and built-in drum kits, and explore expressive vocal textures with the gooseneck mic, Vocoder, and AutoPitch. Small in size and large in versatility, the JD-Xi is all about big sounds and big fun!

By far, the best crash course for Xi, thank you.

Super well done walkthrough of the JD-XI. Also really well done, especially love the animated waveforms - and as much as I enjoy hearing synth people get excited about new instruments, it's refreshing to have no talking. Thank you!

Very good Synthesizer for the money. I am no musician but I can produce what I consider to be nice dance patterns on this. I have connected it to my Roland Juno Gi so I can record my efforts and overlay keyboard from the Juno Gi.

I love this synth, I connected it to a korg triton and an iPad, big possibilities on a shoestring budget, thanks Roland.

Editing sound through a letterbox, i.e. led screen isn't for me, tho it sounds nice....I want more knobs to fiddle with. Guess that's why I keep going back to Moogs!

+blipblip88 You could also use an affordable controller, like a BCR2000. Nothing against the moogs, but there's lots of stuff in here the moogs can't do, let alone at that price

Nice demo. I like the synth capabilities, the three oscillator superNATURAL synth engine is very powerful (the 1-voice analog is negligible to me to be honest, but it's okay too). I like the display (thanks goodness no touchscreens here) and I even like the mini keys (mind you, Roland classically shaped mini keys, nice touch). Now, what I'd prefer to see would be four octave keyboard, Roland paddle (not the wheels, Roland needs to have the paddle, please) and of course the front panel styling is a bit tacky (to say the least) with its plexiglass mirror. But it's all good for the targeted audience (teenagers, they need to look in the mirror quite often to fix the hair and all). It is far better than microKORG anyway, and little less tacky thank Mininova as well. So I wish Roland to make a lot of money with this unit, by moving this in big numbers. Too bad that the flagship JD-XA inherited all the tacky features from the JD-Xi and adding even more tacky AIRA-type lights on top of it. JD-800 looks still far more desirable than any of those. At least to me. So, for my synth, I still have to hunt on eBay. As far as new Roland products, I've had the Integra-7 for quite some time, and it's nice capability-wise, but the display looks cheap (why not put proper LCD like on the JV-2080, or XV-5080) and the alpha wheel looks very tacky. JP-80, otherwise fantastic, is ruined by the touchscreen. I mean, it's ridiculous to have fake touchscreen knobs on a $3,500 instrument. Roland instruments used to be perfect. Now, even though they sound good, some poor industrial design had to screw up everything in the end.

    Hello to Roland,
I´ve bought the JD-Xi some weeks ago and I want to say that I´m really happy with this good sounding synthesizer. On the Axial-Page I´ve discovered that there are "Cinematic PADS" for the JD-XA, respectively "Film Octaves" for the Juno-DS61/88. Will there also be a possibility to get these sounds as a download for the JD-Xi soon? That would be great, because my major aim is to play beautiful, dreamy PAD-Sounds.
with kind regards from Augsburg (Bavaria)
