I really hope that Rivendale and Barad-dur are successful enough for lego to start making regular LOTR sets again I know it wouldn't be the sane quality but at least everyone will be able to get LOTR sets
I think they are going about it in completely the opposite way. They could have first brought out a bunch of really simple, smaller sets that are at a low pricepoint to entice people into LEGO Lego Lord of the Rings. They could have started with some sets introducing the characters and featuring a bunch of key places. (like the cart with Gandalf and Frodo) When there is a small line of 5-10 sets, they could also introduce the larger ones, the flagship sets that top it all off. A great set in the 20-40 price range (depending on size and amount of pieces) could be the scene with the fallen tree with the 4 hobbits hiding from the Nazgul rider. It doesn't have to be incredibly large, just one large trunk with some foliage around, the Nazgul and his horse and the 4 hobbits. Another great set would be the prancing pony, that could have the hobbits, Aragorn and a couple of townsfolk. Maybe the room with the beds that have straw puppets in them could be a fun detail from the story. This would probably be a medium sized set, somewhere in the 40-60 dollar range, potentially a little bit more if they really want to build out the tavern, or include 1 or 2 other buildings for a larger scene. Lastly I would love the bridge scene with Gandalf and the Balrog, also a medium priced set that doesn't have to include much more than just the things mentioned. It would be fun to have a bit of scenery around it, though that would make the set much more expensive. Maybe a play feature where the bridge breaks down and both the Balrog and Gandalf fall down could be a thing that could be included. There are tons of things that I just thought of in a minute or 2, I'm pretty sure they can come up with something equally fun. Even just a small pack in the 10-15 dollar range would be great. (and no not Brickheadz .. Brickheadz are lame and look awful)

I would except a bit more if it came out today, those original LOTR lego sets were way too expensive, almost like they were limited print runs or something. I would love to see a remake of that set, they could just use the original minifigures and make a bit of a larger scene and include at least all the characters there and a bunch more bad guys. Though I much rather see them focus on the essential pieces like the harder to get minifigures to keep the price low. We can get normal parts way cheaper than from a Lego set.
It should come with the stuff releasing from the Medieval Market Square. It took them a bit of time to release all the Lion Knight's stuff on PAB too, I think it wouldn't be much more than a month or 2. The Viking Village stuff was very late as well, for some reason they have a very weird (and unfathomable) timetable for doing these things.

Another easter egg I noticed is on the map behind the palantir, it says "Shire? Baggins?" in reference to what gollum said while they were torturing him
The only thing i hate is the amount of stickers. Some parts could easily be prints. You only get 1 sticker sheet as well so you literally can’t afford to mess it up. They should include a second sticker sheet if they have this many stickers. Especially the large ones on rounded surfaces. Very hard to get perfectly centred..
When I have the ability to earn my own money one day in my life, I hope this set won't be ridiculously expensive on bricklink or third party sites, but given it's size and LEGOs inflation over the years, I might still be stuck getting the knockoffs
You'd still be better off buying a set while it is still in production, or at a discount before it is retired. Just save up as much as you can, or sell some stuff you do no longer need. I'm assuming you are still young. Let me tell you, as someone that is able to earn my own money, there are usually a whole lot more costs involved as soon as you are at that point in your life. The best time to spend money on luxury items like Lego is when you are an adolescent or student, while still living at home. You have no costs, except for maybe a phone contract and going out for drinks, so all your money can go into hobbies like Lego. At the point where you have a job, you are usually also paying for a house in some way, food, insurance, a car, gas for the car and potentially a partner and children too. Life gets infinitely more expensive once you get older, so try to land a small job and see if you can save up for the stuff you absolutely really want. I know I spent ALL of my money when I was an adolescent and some of that money I spent on things that is worth infinitely more today, which I benefit from now. Not blown away by it, like i was with Rivendell. Sauron's helmet and shoulder blades is one mould, so you can't separate the helmet only. I'm also not impressed by the overall shape of the tower, it lacks something. They use too many big bricks, like the wedge slopes. Well, the good news is I get to save $460.

@@Goldfyre That isn't even asking for a lot. Any set under 50 dollars would be even better. Though as long as they end up in normal stores, at least they can benefit from discounts, unlike Lego exclusives.
The one problem I have with the orcs is how there not ugly. The old ones had creepy faces with crooked teeth and sunken eyes, the new ones don't have that evil look I would expect
I think you would be able to get him as a single figure, though he would be insanely expensive unless his parts go to PAB. We're talking 15-30 dolars on a single figure, maybe even more. The Nazgul are insanely expensive now too, though they weren't included in a lot of sets.
Gothmog looks great but the other orcs look like zombies. Old orcs are better. Also super bummer witch king didn't come in gwp. Sounds like they had a different plan for it once.
I am a little underwhelmed with this set when comparing it to Rivindell. Im hoping whatever set comes out next year (hopefully Minas Tirith) will be better
It was a missed opportunity not to give the Mouth a horse. Would’ve likely resulted in black horses being put on PAB again which would’ve been awesome :(
an idea is kind of something a child would do like a build challenge: like if you have one carriage wheel try to make something bc as a kid you cant use bricklink so you have one unmatched piece like i have the left arm of a black dragon animal and don't know where I got it
The new helmets look excellent, but goodness am I worried about acquiring them en masse. I hope they release a mid-range orc army set to help get more of those parts to people.
Love the set, hate the stickers (not as bothered about these as I was on the medieval town square, as none of these seem reusable, still a weak move for such an expensive set). I do love the print on the Palantir. The orc hair is odd, but I thinl there are more than enough helmets to replace that. Not a fan of it either. just wish we had MORE orcs (the could have 2x or 3x ed the 3 basic orcs.
The only thing i would be missing are 460 € .... Stickers, missed opportunities and overpriced half tower... thx Lego for messing this great opportunity up...
It feels off because it cannot be properly scaled with any other set we've gotten. It's got good play on the inside & good display on the outaide, but you won't have figs on the outaide beseiging it. Orthanc can do that. Rivendell can do that. The closest I can compare this feeling to is Helm's Deep, which always felt about 90% of the way to being properly scaled. I still plan to buy it, but I'm not going to be able to display it next to Orthanc with Saruman on the balcony. Edit: is that Sauron armor piece connected to the helmet? I'm wondering if there's even a minifig head under it.
I dont quite get the orc with the bandana he seems odd and out of place. And its a shame that the pale orc and the burgundy orcs dont get ears. Its lame they didnt use the old hair piece but considering i have a few i dont mind the variety. Other then that looks to be a great set and ill definitely be buying
You picked the version of Gollum where he's Smeagol, so he has the big innocent eyes. The other Gollum released has the evil looking eyes that's actually Gollum. The new Gollum looks way too cartoonish with no pupils or whites, so just has glowing blue eyes and looks silly. And there'd be no way to have him "switch" between being Gollum and Smeagol because the eyes can't look distinct
For anyone who can't remember the scene word for word: MORDOR ORC: "We're not goin' no further til we've had a breatha!" UGLUK: "Get a fire going." URUK-HAI: "I'm starvin'. We ain't had nothin' but maggoty bread for three stinkin' days..." MORDOR ORC: "Yeah! Why can't we have some meat?" "What about them? They're fresh..." UGLUK: "They are not for eating." GRISHNAKH: "What about their legs? They don't need those... Ooo they look tasty!" UGLUK: "Get back scum!" FROM THE BACK: "Carve 'em up!" MORDOC ORC: "Yeah, just a mouthful--" UGLUK: "Looks like meat's back on the menu boys!"
The helmets definitely won’t, and with how specific the torsos and legs and heads are, they probably won’t either. The helmets come in accessory pack, just like the weapons in Rivendel ( which didn’t come to PAB )
I'm actually kinda butthurt and a bit disappointed that, seemingly, such a large part of the LotR-fandom has a problem with receding hairlines... Like "elves are supposed to be fair and beautiful, so they cannot possibly have receding hairlines." Because someone with a receding hairline cannot possibly be fair and beautiful, I take it..? Maybe its a good thing that Lego is challenging that view...
Actually a lot of Lego sets are more expensive than my rent >.< It is insane what they dare to ask for some of their sets. In the end it is just a bunch of high quality plastic in a cardboard box that you can assemble into something.
@@pinobluevogel6458 Let me introduce you to the souless corporate greed my friend. What pisses me off the most is that they then have the audacity to put stickers in there. Hey i just wanted to say that you really inspire me to build lots of medieval mocs and each one is more detailed! I hope your channel will grow in subscribers and community
Hey! that is so nice of you to say. I really appreciate that and i hope to see you enter the MOC contest sometime soon :)
I wonder if the golden spiked shoulder armour is a hint towards a set including Easterlings? 🤔
The designer said there are actually 9 or 10 helmets scattered throughout the interior rooms, pretty cool
Personally I wish Sauron had the taller legs at least. I find that he looks kind of stumpy but definitely does not ruin the model.
such a great set and vid😊
Yeah, looks like I‘m selling my kidney for this
I hope lego make lego lord of the rings and battlepacks so me and other fans make armies
I couldn't agree more. really any sets under $100 would be nice lol
@@Goldfyre That isn't even asking for a lot. Any set under 50 dollars would be even better. Though as long as they end up in normal stores, at least they can benefit from discounts, unlike Lego exclusives.
If they do Lego sets like this but for star wars. That would be a game-changer!
The one problem I have with the orcs is how there not ugly. The old ones had creepy faces with crooked teeth and sunken eyes, the new ones don't have that evil look I would expect
Instead of a Minifigure for Sauron they should do what the Lego LoTR game did and make a bigass Knight's Kingdom style action figure of him.
I'm glad they did a fig but getting a buildable sauron would have been a really sick GWP to go with the set
Was hoping for a saruman fig with this set, but it's still amazing and i will definitely get it
A Saruman figure would be awesome.
Imagine a Minas Tirith set with not just regular Gondor soldiers but also the Gondor citadel guards with the winged helmets. Damb.
man that old golem looked cursed! 😂🤣😆
I love that sauron figure but im not willing to spend 460 for a single figure... heres hoping he'll be available on his own in the future
Hey I'm curious, would you recommend this set to someone who hasn't ever bought a set over 200 dollars before?
I don't know as of right now but if i had to pick between this one and rivendell i would go with rivendell
"10 observations about the new lego set that everyone makes which you think no one knows for some reason"
If you already knew all these details then that might mean the video wasn't made for you
I am a little underwhelmed with this set when comparing it to Rivindell. Im hoping whatever set comes out next year (hopefully Minas Tirith) will be better
It was a missed opportunity not to give the Mouth a horse. Would’ve likely resulted in black horses being put on PAB again which would’ve been awesome :(
Is it me or does Sauron's helmet and shoulder spikes look like they are the same piece?
an idea is kind of something a child would do like a build challenge: like if you have one carriage wheel try to make something bc as a kid you cant use bricklink so you have one unmatched piece like i have the left arm of a black dragon animal and don't know where I got it
I've got a custom Sauron minifig with the longer legs and it looks far from 'goofy' - it's far better and LEGO cheaped out by not including those legs
Finaly comparison to orthank, thank you
Got both now. The Barad-dur set is massive
I love to get a Sauron minifigure.
The red one looks like a bike helmet 😅
bandana which movie accurate.
The new helmets look excellent, but goodness am I worried about acquiring them en masse.
I hope they release a mid-range orc army set to help get more of those parts to people.
If they come on PAB, no issue .. otherwise it would be paying premium prices I think :S
Didn't realize there's multiple helment molds! Is it bad that that alone makes me want to get this set 😂
Yes his shoulder plate and helmet are one piece. There is a very unique fiery head piece underneath tho, which is really quite cool
This set is amazing, I just wish I could army build the orcs
I dont quite get the orc with the bandana he seems odd and out of place. And its a shame that the pale orc and the burgundy orcs dont get ears. Its lame they didnt use the old hair piece but considering i have a few i dont mind the variety. Other then that looks to be a great set and ill definitely be buying
I’m buying this💀
You picked the version of Gollum where he's Smeagol, so he has the big innocent eyes.
Only miss here is the tall legs for Sauron
For anyone who can't remember the scene word for word:
MORDOR ORC: "We're not goin' no further til we've had a breatha!"
UGLUK: "Get a fire going."
URUK-HAI: "I'm starvin'. We ain't had nothin' but maggoty bread for three stinkin' days..."
MORDOR ORC: "Yeah! Why can't we have some meat?" "What about them? They're fresh..."
UGLUK: "They are not for eating."
GRISHNAKH: "What about their legs? They don't need those... Ooo they look tasty!"
UGLUK: "Get back scum!"
FROM THE BACK: "Carve 'em up!"
MORDOC ORC: "Yeah, just a mouthful--"
UGLUK: "Looks like meat's back on the menu boys!"
They should make angband to go along with barad dur
I hope these pieces come to pick a brick
Mmmmmmmmm I might have to buy this. 😬. Would be the most expensive lego set I’ve ever purchased. No too far behind Bricklink Winter Fortress though
I like the old ork hair more
100% agree
Yeah these orcs are zesty af
New orc about to ask if u want a cup of tea
@@BarrelOfbricks5555 fr lol
The old Gollum figure is better than the new one if you ask me.
Suron is insane, i would have bought this set IF he was a tall figure tho :C
i honestly expected much more minifigs, dont get me wrong, it is a good set but rivendell takes the win
I agree with you, Goldfyre. The old orcs are probably better than these new ones.
man sure hope we got some regular lotr sets soon. Sucks to have to deceide between paying rent and buying a lego set
Actually a lot of Lego sets are more expensive than my rent >.<
It is insane what they dare to ask for some of their sets. In the end it is just a bunch of high quality plastic in a cardboard box that you can assemble into something.
@@pinobluevogel6458 Let me introduce you to the souless corporate greed my friend.
What pisses me off the most is that they then have the audacity to put stickers in there. I mean in a 10 bucks city set who gives a shit, the kiddos probably enjoy putting the stickers on it. But this is a 500 bucks collectors item for hardcore fans.
Idk where your from but over here in germany we actually have a nice selection of lego alternatives, like bluebrixx. They got higher quality bricks, print their stuff and still only ask half the price lol.
Really wish those would have the lotr license instead
@@marvinbange1216 I'm not familiar with Bluebrixx, but I agree on the sticker part. I think it is 'okay' for very specific outside circumstances, on a piece that is probably never is going to be used in other sets. Still, having stickers in a set over a 100 dollars is just bad.
If you cannot design a good looking set without stickers, that set is a not a good design.
@@pinobluevogel6458 You should look into it! They make really amazing medieval stuff. Their castle bluestone with all the expansions especially is a sight to behold
WE WANTS IT FOR MeEEEeeee
this set amazing
I am building an orc army and I’m so sad that I can’t get these orcs and goblins on Pab😭
Now I am faced with getting this or the d&d set I think I will get this but probably not until Christmas
I didn't miss the stickers lmao
first thing you miss is the second half of the tower...
My one gripe is the swords that the orcs wield. Those are Uruk-Hai swords. Mordor orcs and other orcs are scimitars
Hopefully they make a proper orc scimitar the next time they have the opportunity. In the old them they just used that one giant sword piece that didn't look very good.
I am waiting for a review to come out in early June
Btw this is another brilliant video
I wonder if they are gonna release even more sets from lord of the rings
I’m hyped for it
that new orc is looking like zombified Saul Goodman ;-;
lmao you're right. especially with the hairpiece
At least Lego still loves lotr.
This is awesome what's next from Lego Lord of the Rings Aragorn in his kingdom orgasm molded wig with his crown and where his ancestral sword is finally fixed because that would be awesome as well😎👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🏅🏆
01:07 this orc? He has a name you know! GOTHMOG! 😂 06:36 Orb? Palantir my friend, one of the seeing stones.
i said gothmog in the video...
Barely paying attention, are you?
By the way, the Palantir _is_ an orb. Just like Sting is a dagger.
Sick thoughs ork sorta look a bid dope
I think its the hair piece tbh. i really gotta see them with the old orc hair
Im gonna get the lion nights castle, the rivendell sets before they retire and then ill get barad dur, love sauron, if they make minas tirith then i would love a king Aragon figure with it.
You gotta get rivendell. it's such a pretty set on display
@Goldfyre I've always wanted an elven forge, I will get it, just gonna take a Lil time.
Thanks
What's significant about the bald orc, anyone who's a Lord of the Rings expert?
Gothmog is a the general of the orc army and is a figure people have wanted for a while
@@ClassicStudStudiosIs he the one who chased after Pippin and Merry before running into an ent?
@@Jaymat_flix nope!.
Why so expensiv!?! 😢 Imagine Lego making a battle pack with these orcs!
I think the old lord of the rings theme was perfect now the new orcs and elves kinda look weird bcs of the new style of prints
I personally really like the new orc prints and think they look more accurate to the movies than the old figs did. Especially the face prints. The old faceprints we're a little much imo
@@Goldfyre still happy that we’re getting more lord of the rings. In my opinion it’s one of the best movies
