In this Grasshopper tutorial, we will model a parametric facade based on the twisting louvers of the Luanda sports Pavilion. First, we will model a straight surface and then we will divide it to vertical strips by using the Isotrim command and then we will use a line to define the openings. hi. first thanks for this tutorial. i did try this today but when i try to connect list items and rotate with a curve, i cant connect two items. if i connect rotate with curve, i cant connect anything anymore. do you know why? cause i am trying to learn grasshopper so new so i didnt get it. thanks
Hi! This has been so helpful!! Is it possible if I could add some parametric distribution of an object over the louver? Like distributing small square pyramids over each strip? I tried to do that but the only way I could think of is using isotrim and area to get a plane to orient my object on the strips. But I was facing problems doing it. It would be extremely helpful if you could guide me on this.
I think there's an easier way to convert the surfaces into solids, use the offset surface node, then loft them and then join all 3 surfaces with brep join. Seems to work nice Also thank you for the tutorial !!!
is there anyway to adjust the intensity of the rotation with respect to the number of panels? For example if i set the number of panels up to 20, the first panels in the series wont turn until i increase the angle, the that time the panels in the end of the series have douled over, something that would be rather unfeasable to fabricate in real life
I am getting an error at the isotrim component right away: "1. Subsurface is invalid because the trimming V-domain is singular" because I have a custom shaped, yet a simple planar surface. what is the workaround for using a "trimmed" surface? thanks.
Thanks for this tutorial. I tried following it with a surface I created but when I bake it's not really dividing my surface and instead of rotating the louvres it just created circles on the curve I created to divide my original surface...
Dear my friend I have a question about this tutorial I want to create a closed area with a curve and only apply action to this area . For instance i want to draw a circle and have holes in the circle area only. How?
How would I add a second line that also creates openings so that I have 2 instead of 1 , I copied the commands we already made (Curve > Point on Curve > Line > Surface Split) and while that does create the second line it does not create another set of openings on the surface Anyway thanks for the awesome tutorial!

Thanks man the voiceover was really helpful in understanding the lists and whats really going on
You're welcome
Your tutorials are really helpful and very high quality. Keep them coming!
🙏
The tutorial was transparent and very illustrative. I'm trying to solve the same problem with two lines instead of one. It's an intriguing problem.
Glad to hear it's useful...that's a good exercise :)
You sir are a genius! Thank you so much.

Thank you for the material! how to make dotted connections between notes? I only get solid lines. because of this, I can't build a loft.
Great video! At point 9:00 8 can’t join the up, middle, and down curves to the plug curve to join the loft
press shift
kiss you!!! I was already desperate to connect with the loft, but everything turned out to be so simple! Mercy!:)@@mohabzidan352
@@mohabzidan352 you, sir, are loved. thanks
Hi, I have a question! At 13:34, when you connected "curve" to "offset curve", why it cannot choose the direction of offset curve in that battery?
and the second question: at 08:52, why I cannot connect that 3 components into the same curve at the same time? Thanks
Could you solve it? I have the same problem 😭
@@anggiehernandez819 press shift, had the same problem and was just that 🤣
Can i apply this into curved surface? Do you have tutorial video about that?

Brilliant tutorial. Can you show how we can lay the components for laser cutting?
Thanks...sure we will take a look at that soon

Also thank you for the tutorial !!!
Great tip! Yes, that's a better way
hi can you please help me ! . i can t join this three output in one inputs why

hi thank you for the very useful tutorial and i have a question about how to aplly curved surface .. it makes a problem when i set it in grasshopper?
Hi, when i use the DBrep to get the top and bottom edge, i use to change edges to reverse. If i don't it keeps picking up the vertical lines. Howcome?
Great tutorial! 1.5 speed is even more clear hhhh
:)) great idea
How do i stop the other running commands to bake the loft at the end?
Thanks man

I am actually still getting the same error with a newly created rectangular surface...
I figured it out. I was using the regular divide domain not divide domain 2
Thanks for this tutorial. I tried following it with a surface I created but when I bake it's not really dividing my surface and instead of rotating the louvres it just created circles on the curve I created to divide my original surface...
Can you make a path between the points? If so, how?

thank you for your reply
Can you give me an email or phone number to tell you what exactly i want?
I have a problem. My surface is still visible behind the louvers? Any idea why?

Where can I find out how this works on a freeform surface?
Great tutorial! I really like your style!
Id Love something jewelry related in you are ever looking for Inspiration!
You're welcome 🙏 we will also do a jewelry tutorial soon
Hey guys ..why isn't graph mapper working for the openings?
why i cant choose the edges for curve
Please provide more information
why mine doesn't look like that? :C
same HAHAHA I can't connect the three commands to the curve/loft (last step of the tutorial) only one connects...
great tutorial but it would be even better if you could try it on an organic surface and upload it please
