How A Quiet Place: Day One May Mislead On Expectations

Worth out right saying that I definitely enjoyed this one, but I feel there may be some going into this with maybe a misled view on what the movie is looking to bring to the table. I guess this discussion is in the realms of "is this film a prequel or a spin off?". Anyways, lets dive into this must see Summer thriller!
A woman named Sam finds herself trapped in New York City during the early stages of an invasion by alien creatures with ultra-sensitive hearing.

Its like it was 3 scripts merged in one: A movie about a person dealing with a terminal decease, a comedy about people following a cat that was playing around the city during a war, and an invasion survival scifi story. But at the end the mix didn't quite work.
