@Chopin Chopin IKR, people shouldn’t pluralize it bc it’s not the correct way. I’m glad that Apple put a stop on that when iPhone 4S came out. Phil said you should never pluralize iPhone.
On my HD800 it was IMPOSSIBLE to remove the earpiece from the headband on both sides. Not sure why you want to remove it in the first place as the mod was super easy to do even without this. Avoid screw drivers or sharp metal objects near the driver. Just use your fingers and it will just go out after little bit of persuasion.
I watched both video's about the HD 800 mod and review of the HD 800 S. First off thank you for the great reviews. I currently own the HD 800 and want to do the better of the two per your suggestion which is the Superdupont mod with some EQ to bring some warmth to the headphone. I did notice that you removed your Anax mod on yours and wanted to see if you were planning on leaving it that way (I currently have the mod as well). I also noticed on the website and the link through the website the mod is actually a set of shure ear pieces which I have here at the house. However i did notice in this review it is different and I have had a hard time finding the closed back one like you have in this video. Can you let me - and us know where it is? As always thank you
You didnt show properly whether the little foam disc has the Sealed face facing down or facing up, when u pressed it into the hole. Edit: OK i saw the other video and now I see that the closed part is on the bottom.

Instead of modifying my HD800, I bought MIT's Vero XLR reference cable + bass dongle (as specially tuned for the HD800). Originally, the HD800 sounded always a little too bright to my ears. But with MIT's (network) cables, with 'multiple articulator poles' technology, and the added optional bass-dongle, it really sounds great to me. So I was wondering if you have tested this solution for yourself and also, did you found any differences in measurement? Maybe a nice suggestion for an interesting review?
Wow, they still didn't scrap the "RIng Resonator" in the "S" model ???? The "voicing" of the HD800 really doesn't work "true to the recorded sound" with the "RR" in place (depending on type of music recording & the talent of the recording team) & they left this "design feature" in the "S" ? I don't care what you take off of an HD800 if you don't first get rid of the "RR". (I'm not about to Raise my Noisefloor so that I can't hear this headphone's "generated imaging to compensate for recorded mediocrity; I don't think Beethoven had days when he said "Well ,what I wrote today was good enough" Why would I give recording engineers a "pass" on this type of attitude ? (Or a bit overhyped headphone makers the same pass, they're not the "Only Crayon in the Box")
hd800 never had a ring resonator. ring resonator is just that black doughnut thing in the center of hd800s driver covers. ffs dumbasses that talks like they know what they are talking about pisses me off

If I did this mod, I'd end up poking holes in the diaphragm. Instead of doing a mod, I installed lambskin pads - and it worked for me....
