Hi Berylanne, I wear dresses to clean also. I still wear jeans however I want to get away from jeans.
I used to keep emergency/just in case/ PMS jeans because I thought i would NEED it. But often times the jeans, especially skinny jeans or low rise would make me feel more self conscious- tight- uncomfortable and since it so form fitting I felt like it showed every fault/lump. I noticed I was always in a hurry to get home so I could take them off at the end of the day and finally breathe, or as my weight fluctuates during the month it was hard staying body positive.
Eventually I realized I didn’t need the pants, there was no emergency that required them, and if I’m cold I can just layer up. I put them in the top of my closet as a trial separation.
The world didn’t end , and dress have been the most flattering in every season physically and metaphorically
Thanks to thrifting you can find a dress/ or slip-night gown for bedtime / for any situation
Finding appropriate shoes for each is the hard parent

Viksvos makes some nice garden skirt overalls and aprons from linen. I think I’d wear that kind of thick, stiffer protective material, maybe the garden dungaree dress style you can put over anything, with legs not exposed to the elements, weather, mess, or dangerous items we can come in contact with in outdoor work. I would wear comfortable tennis shoes or rubber work boots, with a good grip, non slip, and good protection of toes with whatever the outfit was fitting for the work.
100 years ago and majority of human history women did any and all work in dresses. Just look at Cinderella and Snow White, they both scrubbed floors and cleaned the home in dresses. Our great grandmothers were in the garden wearing skirts. Any work a woman is capable of doing that is within our strength category can be done in skirts.
Thank you for this! I feel good in dresses and like to wear them all the time. I have a huge garden and garden almost everyday in a dress and sometimes it gets really dirty but I have dresses for work and dresses I like to keep nice.
I prefer to wear dresses too. I also do house work in dresses.
Ive worn sports stretchy knee lentgh dress while cleaning but im not sure if i have many clothes I'd want to risk getting ruined but i might just need some more casual types.
