KP: You know, people sold their land nowadays - and, really, they lost their heritage, little bit, you know

KP: Huh?

KP: That's raspberries. That's just water and raspberries. This stuff right here - lights see what I've got, how I made that there stuff - it's got apples, grapes, its got raisins in it, it's got raspberries. It turned that color right there. I guarantee it, I guess it's about twenty-five percent alcohol. Now it's real stuff. A lot of people drinks it when they got a cold and stuff. Now buddy - it'll knock the flu out of you, if it don't it'll kill you. You know, it can go either dern way.
NH: You make it yourself?
KP: Yeah, I make it myself. I make it in a dern water cooler. Lot of people puts it in an old jug, crocks and stuff - I put mine in a water cooler, cause you can, you know, you can strain it when you mash the button on the bottom. How is that, Popcorn? [...] That boy, I said, see if that lids a-leaking on that thing when we was coming up here. [...] I said, that'll blow to goddam hell.
PS: It will.
KP: [...]
[jug blasts open. laughter]
PS: goddam it. I got a damn bath, didn't I?

KP: You getting a little buzz offa that?
PS: Hell yeah. I got a free bath too!

It’s a shame he couldn’t have been treated like the cultural treasure he was. They could’ve worked with him to let him keep those old ways going. He seemed to be quite the character.
@Dave Bryant Manned up? He was battling cancer and in poor health. He also was a lifelong smoker, and going cold turkey going to prison would've been hell in itself. Have some compassion now

Hopefully it's not too late to reply, but is there any major difference between the Ozarks and Appalachian accent. Seems to me as an outsider it's just much of a muchness.
@@xz-187 yeah basically the same accent. Maybe these folk in Appalachia have a litter thicker accent for the majority but most of my family sound exactly like them. As do a lot of people.

I have the man's recipe. hopefully, I can come close to his final product. I meet up with the moonshiner's tv series regulars a few times a year, where we swap recipes and sample some of our yearly best. I look forward to each and every meeting. they really like my pineapple brandy. however, one of them won't give up his cherry bounce recipe, no good lousy.....lol.
