    Thank you for the video. I followed your directions and just swapped out the old fuel pump for new. This is my wife’s 2004 Mazda Tribute she bought new in 2004. She fired right up and runs great again!

    Great Video! I loved your home spun speech & accent....many folk who make videos slur words and speak so quickly it is difficult to understand. This was a true "shade tree" mechanic video & you are to be commended for explaining the techniques for removing the pipes & connectors & the warnings about not damaging the float/float arm etc. Well done Sir! Enjoyable to watch. Thank You !!

      I really think they should make them all this way for sure. I know there's some cars that have the access panel under the seat but I don't thinks there's a lot . But then again they don't like to design things to make it easy lol. Thanks for watching sir

      I am glad you asked this question. In my case after replacing the fuel pump later on I started noticing this gas smell. This also set off the check engine light for evap leak. I looked the car over from front to back and found no leaks. I ruled out the charcoal canister and the best I could tell the purge valve appeared to be working. I never solved the issue , however after this comment and how coincidentally after the pump change yours develops this issue. I feel like the aftermarket pump may be the fault. Bad regulators can cause these issues. I replaced a pump on a 2006 tribute with a motorcraft and recall no issues. I cannot say 100 % but this seems very likely. I appreciate your feedback and thank you for watching.

      @@s33therfan Thankyou It is a aftermarket pump with a lifetime warranty ..I think i will return it for a new one before I buy the motorcraft...

    Has this Mazda tribute been reliable for you without any major transmission or engine problems? Thinking about purchasing a used one for a daily driver back and forth to work!
    Great video by the way thank you so much!

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes , it has been very reliable and the only issue ever was with the intermediate converter getting clogged. All of these 3.0l engines I have ever seen have an issue with oil leaks . I will say compared to other vehicles I have owned this one has been the least amount of trouble. I have heard of issues with the transmissions but none with mine also I would add that alot may be due to the tran fluid not being changed. These have a non accessible built in filter so its very important the fluid be clean. The 4 cylinder version may offer better fuel economy but I have not owned one of those . Overall a very roomy vehicle that has a surprisingly large amount cargo space. Hope this is helpful and thank you for your feedback.

    For the fuel pump, did you buy original Ford part or aftermarket? How's it doing so far?

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's been close to 2 months and so far so good. The jury is still out however it came with a 10 year warranty . Now I will say with the ease of access I'm not worried any but if it were a tank drop pump change I might have felt a little differently . But yes so far it's worked as it should and no issues , and at a fraction of the cost for oem or big name pumps . Here's a link to the part and thanks for watching

    I noticed the blinking airbag light and coolant light on the dash. Mine has the same. Any chance you know a fix for either/both

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know the air bag is a connection issue under the passenger seat , may require pig tail connector replacement . As far as the coolant light the jury is out , I'm assuming the sensor on the tank , but with mine it just comes on a little then goes off after a few minutes . I agree stuff like this is aggravating and I like to fix these annoyances . Thanks for checking out the video

    So i took the fuel pump out but sadly there is some dirt and stuff already in the tank. I tried taking out some of it but it looks like its pretty dirty inside. Do i have to get a new fuel tank for this stupid car, or should i just trash it and push it over a cliff?

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bad news is you need to drop the tank. The good news is that it isnt as bad as it sounds. Get you a hand pump from an auto part or harbor freight theyre pretty cheap. Pump all the gas out into a container if any. Then take some water and dish soap etc and clean the inside of the tank thoroughly . Rinse and let it air dry or dry with towels . Reinstall the tank . Now let me back up before putting it back on make sure to clean under the access area etc so no more dirt can accidently get in there. I have had the same situation and had to clean some before but it isnt bad and will make the new pump last . Thank you for watching and best of luck on your project.

      Another thing i just thought of there may be a few other connections and filler neck etc need removing just take special care with the evap line connections or other tank connections when dropping . With the gas out it weighs nothing and is easy to maneuver . Thanks again.
