@@charles-y2z6c last season was a fast forward to what happened to Arnold Rothstein. That's what made it bad. He was a very important character to the cast. I agree they could have told his death to us.

    • @charles-y2z6c
      @charles-y2z6c ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@Jman417 I think it was because of the flashbacks to his youth. I understand they were trying to tell us how Nucky was created but it was done poorly. Plus they did kill off too many good characters. I would have liked to see Jimmy darmody in the whole series. Tommy darmody was a shocker though.

My grandmother grew up in Atlantic City, and spoke fondly of Mr. Johnson. She even worked on steel pier as a teenager. She came from a wealthy, prominent New Jersey family the Lambert’s I would just like to know why they made him Catholic and the series I guess just for the drama and guilt, he was a protestant like almost all of the prominent original families! Does not mean anything today, but believe me it does back then historically

nah, he’s right, s5 sucked! everything felt rushed, and they wasted too much time on the flashbacks ..they were a good idea probably on paper, but after watching and realizing all that time could have been better spent on fleshing out the rushed story at the end felt like a mistake.

Which is weird because it was an extremely popular and successful show. Maybe it had to do with demographics because being in and from NJ, it was HUGE here. That’s all I heard about among entertainment discussions. But I mean overall it had high ratings and viewership across the US. Partly directed and produced by Scorsese, it’s hard to think it wouldn’t

I am curious what your research showed regarding the biggest bootlegger in the nation George Remus who moved from Chicago to Cincinnati to run his empire. The IRS got Remus on tax evasion before using the same strategy to get Capone.
    F. Scott Fitzgerald used George Remus to base his Gatsby character after meeting him in Louisville, KY, where F. Scott's wife lived. They met at a hotel bar that still exists and is well worth visiting = The Seelbach (now a Hilton) Hotel/Bar.
Also, have you looked into the history of Newport, KY? It was Vegas before Vegas and has a wild history of Remus Gang and Mob involvement.
I'd be happy to chat with you about it as I have extensive knowledge of the whole end-to-end history spanning from Remus in the 1920's all the way to the USA's 2nd worst fire in 1977 at the Beverly Hills Supper Club (that was the 3rd time that establishment burned down.)

Woodrow Wilson died in 1924 and there were rumors that he had been a vegetable even before 1921 and Roosevelt didn't become president until 1933. That's kind of peculiar that Woodrow Wilson asked president Roosevelt to go after nucky Johnson.

It wasn’t a rumor he had a stroke and was a vegetable that’s why people say his wife was the first female president because she had to sign papers for him and hide him so people wouldn’t know

Just a little ask from a viewer..
In the future can you pick a name and use JUST that name when talking about that person?
The fact you kept switching between Enoch, Nucky, Johnson the entire time got super confusing.

I know they put fiction in these somewhat true stories. But to have knuckys character killed off was bad. He lived up into his late 60s or seventies.

You pronounced Kuehnle totally incorrectly, It was pronounced QUEN - lee accent on the first syllable. The first syllable is pronounced like a pool cue with an N. There is still a Kuehnle Avenue in Atlantic City. Give me a phone number and I'll gladly call you with the correct pronunciation of Kuehnle. In my collection, I have a post card of the Kuehnle Hotel in Atlantic City years ago. It was up near South Carolina & Atlantic Avenue, near the Pennsylvania Railroad depot. Born New York City on December 25, 1857, Louis Kuehnle (pronounced “coon-lee”) was the son of Louis and Katrina Kuehnle.
I knew Nucky and Flossie Johnson. On August 1, 1941, Johnson, then 58 years old, married 33-year-old Swedish American Florence "Flossie" Osbeck, a former showgirl from Philadelphia, to whom he had been engaged for three years. I also knew the late Frank Farley. I'm almost 80 years old,
And by the way, it was the Camden & Atlantic Railroad. I have a photo of the first train arriving in Atlantic City on July 4, 1854.

It's a Shame what direction the series took his character in season 5.
It's ironic to me because I see boardwalk empire as the first public victim of the Harvey Weinstein scandal! I guarantee it's because of what he did to that actress during season one. When that started to come out they had to wrap it up quickly. I just find it ironic that they chose not be a republican to be the predecessor in a ring of child trafficking.
When it's their own liberal people like Weinstein and the island visitors. Damn Shame they could have done it so much better to the story

I love how Hollywood killers take multiple steps holding the gun straight out at arm’s length instead of just shooting. As if their aim improves while walking. 😂

your math is wrong @20:12 you say bookmakers pay 160 a week...but then you write down 600... then you multiplied it by 20... and then you multiplied it by 52... so you're way tf off
