I'm trying to remember a time when an older legend sang for a younger one. It helps when the song was actually written by the legend in question. Even if you wanna be delulu and say that Patti outdid the original, you can't deny the pen. The song is a great vibe for Patti. I hope she adds it to the repertoire.
I wouldn’t say that she outdid the original but these days she can cover the song fully live in a way that I don’t think Mariah would be capable of doing in her current state of voice… and it kinda rivals even the original version (although they’re different) and to say this about the performance of a 80 years old singer is incredible… sure it will always be Mariah’s song and her original version cannot be surpassed, but this is a testament not only to Mariah’s legacy but also to Patti’s longevity as a powerhouse vocalist

Wonderfull absolut Amazing Endless I think if she became new Ballads from her Own and become a Comeback at the Front - all will be See That Is a legend like Tina Turner or Whitney Houston in her best Times I Wish so much That younger People See That old Talent again ❤
I love that Ms. Patti chose this particular early Mariah classic! Mariah's tribute to Patti (If Only You Knew/Over the Rainbow) is one of the best Patti tributes I've heard. Mariah was still in her 20s back then! I just hope that some of the young vocal queens will be able to continue this lineage... I'm looking around and there's not a lot on offer :-/ Many of the girls have talent but I don't think they're being encouraged by the industry and the general audience to really soar like the divas of the past. Respect for vocal talent has gone out the window.
