Making of a Lampwork Glass Penguin by Jeannie Cox

This is a little video on how I create a full-figure penguin bead. Of course, when Christmas comes around, you can also add a little Santa hat on his head (or any other hat you wish), lol!

I loved this video, I have made bird beads and this helps so much. Can you explain- it goes in a kiln? Usually I just lay the bead in a non burn blanket to cool.

Thank you for a brilliant video - I have one question :-I noticed when you were making the head the bottom of the penguin was out of the heat a lot longer than I expected it to be and you only seem to give it a brief warming - how come it didn’t explode or crack???

It's bead release, a clay substance that allows the bead to be separated from the metal. If you made the bead directly on the metal rod, it would be stuck on there forever.
After the bead is completed and cooled you soak the whole thing, rod and all, in water. It dissolves the bead release and you now have a hole in your bead where the rod once was. :-)

Hello it's Dorothy again how do you tell the difference in glass I buy glass in quantity I'm not sure what they're sending me soft flash burn quick I know borough is harder to melt but other than putting it in the fire how can I tell which one is which I need help to understand this if you have time and can help me with it please explain to me I watch your videos all the time over and over and over they are really educational I enjoy watching you videos thanks a lot for your time Dorothy
