- Andrew Berry has been aggressive in acquiring talent over the years. With multiple players that have been picked who have been marked for some character issues. Mike Hall Jr being the latest to have off field issues as of Monday August 12th. Perrion Winfrey was cut as well last season after running into issues with the law.
Does this raise questions about the risks Andrew Berry is taking in drafting these players?

Don’t forget we literally got Dawand Jones last year, who slipped from the second to the fourth round because of “character concerns”. It’s a case by case basis and we’re 1/3, which is a relatively good rate on a very small portion of the roster.
Nonsense. He fell due to some jackasses questioning his work ethic because he was busy dealing with 4 family deaths instead of training. He never had "character issues".
Maxx Crosby of the raiders had major-major red flags given his backstory. Yet so far he’s been a Tier 2 edge rusher and a model citizen, it’s a 50\50 shot with some of these guys.
He had an alcohol problem, but can see how the fanbase that has to cheer for a serial sex assaulter is confused about degrees of awfulness

Which is what happened to Henry Ruggs (Maxx Crosby’s teammate btw). Watson had the highest character grades coming out of college from any football player ever given his background, and in 2021 January after requesting a trade it all went away.

I'm a free man today, and now as an adult I'm not quite sure i felt remorse at the time. It takes growth,time, and understanding of my actions! Whatever the courts saw in me, I thank them bc I'm a very productive caring citizen,and bc of that second chance it made me the man i am today! Thank you your honor and thank you to the victims for their forgiveness!

Here is some perspective. Hall is scheduled to be paid over $2.75 million this year. He flipped out and allegedly assaulted his fiancé, his fiancé’s child and threatened his fiancé with a firearm over a $1500 bill. There is nothing wrong with expecting the child’s father to pick up the bill. However, $1500 is .15% of just $1m. That is the equivalent of $75 to someone that makes $50k a year or $150 to someone making $100k.
I can only imagine what this guy would do for something serious or what he did to make teams completely remove him from their draft boards. He might have some juvenile stuff that teams found out about and isn’t public knowledge. Plus, I’m sure teams interviewed people that know or knew him, I bet they had some things to say.
Normal or well adjusted people do not act like this. There is no excuse for what has been alleged. Most people do not make mistakes this heinous, regardless of age or background. My dad was a poor immigrant and I’m from the south side of Chicago. I never came close to anything like this. In fact most of the people I know never did anything like this.

Andrew Berry has been terrible at all things draft related. Traded 3 first round picks and 6 pick total for deshaun watson who has been terrible, wasted a draft pick on perion winfrey, wasted a 2nd round pick on hall, took a kicker in the 4th round who is now a backup, and after 37 draft picks he has only drafted 1 player to make the probowl, 1 time. I doubt any GM has a worse draft track record.

I’ll admit I’d like to see his draft picks work out a little better but some picks haven’t had a chance to mature yet… but it’s also hard when you aren’t drafting until the third round… other than that berry has been great at pick swaps in the draft, he’s also been very good in free agency. The way he’s able to manipulate the salary cap and how he extends contracts has been very good. Overall as a GM he’s been very good he finds cost friendly talent through trades as well, built one of the leagues best defenses, he’d be better if his draft picks were a little stronger but he’s also been handcuffed by the Watson trade and it seemed like while he has been supportive that the Haslams had their hands all over that…
To say that he hasn’t been a good gm bc his drafts haven’t been stellar is a bit short sighted…

I agree with earl were in the same generation it shows who has lived the life and who has never had to really live like we live its hard for us so im with him on the second chances we need that we mess up but deserve to learn and grow and try again
with Mike Hall at practice obviously the Browns have a better understanding of the situation than we do. Otherwise he would not be practicing
2nd chance is important. We don't know everything and he needs to be able to prove himself and rebuild his reputation and relationships with his son!

I don't think the Browns should cut him, however I would suspend him for the 2024 season and force him to get mental health counseling prior to returning in 2025, that is of course if he is guilty of that misdemeanor he was charged with. As far as last effects that his daughter will have regarding the incident, she is 11 months old and will have no memory of what happened other than what she will read on the Internet several years from now.

Ridiculous topic. A much better topic and debate would be should Andrew Berry defer drafting certain positions? He has left the cupboard bare at the interior of the DL. We have a DL made up of Myles and free agents. His picks of Ika, Winfrey and now Hall yielded zero impact. McDowell and Billings were FA that missed. The rest of our interior DL are vets on 1 year deals that are oft injured.
The only guy on DL that was a draft pick that has panned out is Alex Wright.
His track record at WR is just as bad or worse. These blind spots have nothing to do with character red flags, they have to do with with AB just not getting it with those positions.
AB has been on fire with DBs though.
I disagree with Earl. There were felonies in there. If the report is true you have felony DV with dragging his girlfriend across the driveway, hitting her in the head with a baby bottle, and putting her head through drywall. Not sure what threatening someone’s life with a gun, but there may be firearm violations in there too. All these charges, if true and pursued, will not be scaled down to a misdemeanor.

Dorsey was great at drafting players. For us Baker, chubb, ward 3 probowlers in his first 4 picks. Berry has only drafted 1 probowler in his first 37 picks lmao. Dorsey also drafted kelce, mahomes, tyreke, and hunt for KC too. He really was a great gm
You actually think that Baker was worthy of being the #1 pick in that draft? Dorsey was a good GM on talent, but a terrible person to work with bc of his ego. He wants to run everything. And that's why him and Andy had to separate. And why he chosed Kitchen as the HC in Cleveland. But do you even know who Dorseys top dawg was when he was in Cleveland? Andrew Berry was. Berry was already here in a scout-like position with us. But he impressed Dorsey so much that not only did he kp him on the staff, but he placed him over all of his people and made Berry top dawg of the scouting department. So actually, you're also more than likely crediting Berry for any pick made by Dorsey while he was our GM. It's even out there that Berry pushed hard for Chubb 🤔, and wasn't so sold on Baker. Not as much as others were. Dorsey even had power struggles with Depodesta. So Haslem regrettably let him go. But he's no longer a GM. He's head of the player personnel dept in Detroit... last I'd heard. And also, he had far more 1st rd picks than Berry as our GM. He's had many flops as well. It comes with the job. But Berry has been a beast for what he's had to work with. Bad with drafting receivers so far, though. Tillman is going to be the exemption I believe
