I bus from Sumerside to white oaks ( plus a bit of a walk because east to west anything south of downtown is a nightmare!).. it takes us the same amount of time to get home and she said that most of her HOUR AND A HALF drive is sitting in traffic. AN HOUR AND A HALF for something that if you had 0 traffic would be like 25-30 mins.. and on my end. Why with taking one of the most major bud lines in the city is it taking me 1.5 hours from when I leave work to actually be home.. when an Uber is about 15mins. Pissed me off so much when the transit company basically just gave themselves a bunch of money and upgraded their building and said it was because they tried and tried and spent all they could to improve the system (they changed like 3 lines to adjust the time they arrive and everyone I know who busses now finds it’s taking even longer to get home. )
I agree the winters are to warm dosent go blow -15 most of the winter , I don't consider anything above -30 to be cold but chilly but then I love the cold

The biggest issue I have with London is that none of the main roads connect, like you can't just take a side street to try and avoid some of the busy traffic, because none of them connect back to the main roads. And the transit is ok if you're going to or from downtown, or to fanshawe or western. But anywhere else and add like 20-30 minutes on to what it would take to drive there. From my old place near cherryhill it was faster to bike to masonville mall than to take the bus.
@@ShouldWeLiveHereThe London I'm used to also lacks a light rail (except two tiny stubs extending into the Greater London region), but it does have some limited Underground and Thameslink service.
I lived in London for 43 years and it wasn’t until I was in the rural US for a few months that I realized how messed up London is. The mention of used needles hits home, I stepped on one five years ago in Victoria park and had to go through several months of treatment for hepatitis C. Rent has gotten out of control as well as food prices. My family has a comfortable life here in Arkansas but if we were basically in London we’d be struggling and borderline homeless. Now that I’ve left Canada I can see it’s problems with an outside perspective and the country I was born and lived in most of my life is dying. It’s sad.
Left London 20 years ago. Best decision I have ever made! When I go back to visit a few people I just shake my head in disbelief. Amazing how quickly they can really fudge things up! Looking like the next move will be out of this country!
Ya sure pal, Arkansas is ranked 45th out of 50 states. It's 49th in crime 47th in healthcare and 38th in education and you think London's dying? I'm not sure you know the meaning of the word "dying" but it's what happens if you need an expensive lifesaving procedure in an Arkansas hospital and don't have the money to pay for it.
@@Fred-vy1hm it's much nicer here, the bad stats for the state are mostly due to Little Rock and Pine Bluff. Have you ever been here? Seems odd to base an opinion on a 5 minute Google search. Oh, and don't call me pal buddy.
I grew up in Ottawa, but my paternal side is from London and I live here now. We called this the Banana belt growing up because the winters are mild, we are even with the northern California border. Everything else you said is common to every big city.
Thanks for watching- we appreciate your feedback. We have lived in both London and Ottawa. I agree London is much warmer than Ottawa. We hope to get some videos out about Ottawa in the next few months. Sadly I think the drug/homeless problem has gotten a lot worse in London.
Hi I am becky. A newcomer in canada. My family is considering london or ottawa. Please can you advise which of these cities is better in terms of jobs, raising kids etc
@@beckyosas8364 Hi Becky We are working on two videos about Ottawa right now. One with pros and one with cons. We hope to have them out in the middle of January. Both cities would be great for raising a family. Ottawa is more than twice the size of London and has a lot of government jobs. Both have great schools and hospitals. Ottawa has more museums and art galleries and festivals. The winters are warmer in London. Do you prefer bigger cities or smaller? Do you like cold weather?
@@beckyosas8364 Having lived in both, either is fine for raising kids in terms of opportunities and education. Ottawa is a much larger city when you take in the surrounding areas including the Quebec side. Being the capital a lot more of the jobs require English/French bilingualism then you will find in London. Ottawa is Government and High Tech as the major employers. London is Hospitals and Universities/Colleges. A number of the large manufacturing jobs have left London like Ford and Kellogg's, but a number of smaller ones are opening all the time it seems. Housing is tough in both markets, but that is the times rather then locations.
I lived in London in the 1980s (well outskirts of London in boarding school) and it was a nice little town. Downtown was not run down and was a vibrant shopping area. There were very few homeless people or drug addicts. Winters weren't bad and London use to get a fair bit of snow, which I loved. In terms of temperature during winter, London wasn't that bad (I've lived in Montreal and Ottawa, which were much colder). London had a vibrant nightlife for a city of its size - there were a couple of clubs: Notes, Penrods/Ichabods; and a number of university bars: The Ceeps, Call the Office, the Bavarian, Ridout, and GTs on Richmond) UWO parties were off the hook (Saugeen residence made into Playboy's top 10 party college residences in North America). What London lacked was diversity in restaurants (Fatty Patty's was terrible lol). It's a shame to hear that London has gone downhill.
@@ShouldWeLiveHere I live in Toronto at the moment, moved back in 2019, but the city has gone down hill, so I will likely move out in the next few years.
Notes! 🤩👍🏻 'Notorieties', later 'Notes' had really great music and a distinct crowd of regulars that made it a very special place back in the day. I am from a small town south of London and starting going there as a teenager in the early '80s. Later I went to Western and continued to hang out there as a student- those were great times. Sad to see that the London I knew is completely gone. 'The past is a foreign country'. Thanks for your comment!
Been in London since 1975 and when you are from New Brunswick you realize how stuck up many of the people are. Transportation sucks, down town has not been decent since the early 80's. Giving out drugs has never worked in Seattle or Vancouver and London is getting what its bleeding heart deserves. So sad that kids can't explore wooded ares in the inner city areas because of drug addicts, needles and so forth.
I live in London, England and was interested to see if the pros and cons of Ontario differ from our version of London. The main difference is the Ontario version is clean and tidy (in the main) which cannot be said for England. Also, you seem to have affordable housing to buy! Wow, we don't even have the unaffordable kind. However, the transport is good here. You don't even need a timetable, you just turn up and go. It's not cheap, though. My main incentive to keep living here is the music on offer. The gigs are fantastic.
Thanks for watching. We hope to visit London England in 2023! Will be interesting to compare the two. Your public transit and entertainment options sound amazing.
Lol My friend is a musician and since 19 the music scene is dead , only venues are crap woke bird bands , any places that were good and non pandering have shut down , like Call the office Norma Jeans , and LMC . Odd that the city will spend big to keep the opera house open but won't spend one nickle to help struggling venues , LMC and Call the Office were 2 iconic landmarks , great musicians from all over the world would come to London just hang out at LMC, I knew Pete very well great guy never asked for anything from anyone and always helped others and the city thanks him for not just offering a stage but a community for musicians and music lovers .
It's 8 degrees today, Feb. 21st, 2024. 0.44% of the population is homeless. This is not high. Every Canadian city has congestion during rush hour. The transit system is fantastic.
Back in 90s, the downtown area of London, Ont was very lively. Big businesses were everywhere. Sadly, it’s not the same as it was. But I still love London.
I lived in London Ontario 10 years ago. That's really good memories. I miss this city so much .perhaps just because I was young then, lonely life with haunting memories.
I would say the people of London Ontario are the main reason not to move there. Not friendly, not like Montreal, even the the people of Toronto are friendlier although there is a high crime rate. Secondly job opportunities, not a lot. And lastly there is virtually nothing to do in London, unless you like to sit in a bar all day or walk around in a mall (they only have two malls.
Lived in London off and on for over 20 years and I’m leaving in the Spring. The city has gone way downhill in the last 10 years. The job market has gotten worse and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to live with the cost of living going up.
I moved out of London due to an employment opportunity, and in the intervening years, I have been so disappointed with the way the city I once called home has developed. I would never, ever move back.
Lived in London Ontario my whole life. You got me triggered with that long ass train lol.. I've been late because of it many times. The transit system sucks too and is never on time. This video is pretty bang on.
Issue homelessness Vancouver toronto everywhere it is crisis human resources job economy crash . Rich gets richer . Poor get more poor . In a way, no manufacturer in North America has no job .make inflation sky high, and it will only get worse and worse 😢
Thanks for watching. The last time I was in Vancouver I was shocked by the increase in drug addiction. I was happy to see that recently a generous family in London Ontario made a $25 million donation to help with homelessness.
Point 2 is true of London, England. It is true that (the City of) London has very little light rail other than the very ends of DLR routes (though the Croydon area does), nor does it have "rapid" transit, the Underground and Thameslink being far from rapid, even though convenient.
If you were here in London, Ontario, one year ago, you would have known about the construction of the new underpass on Adelaide Street at the CPKC Railway which has been open for a few months.
🌳 📜 🇨🇦 It was the, "Royal Police assisting Canada that kept those fancy property lines on thr' map, which also shows how close of Titan We is for the fancy line property say so Amen
I grew there. Relatively safe for a city of it's size. I ski, fly fish, hike and do a lot of outdoor stuff. Not that there isn't some nice outdoor area's but it is very flat - surrounded by farming and the fishing is not good (particularly trout fishing). There are a surprising number of fish in the Thames river but it gets pretty warm and skanky in the summer - you will see shopping carts and I just never felt like it was a clean river. The biggest problem I had was that I went to an east end school and there was a bit of a dark undertone of biker, drug activity, strip clubs etc. I lived on the fringes of this and that is my own problem but I just wanted away from that. Collingwood works much better for me. It is a well to do community so there are a ton of amenities and entertainment without traffic. If you like the outdoors you have hills, forests, rivers, beaches and Georgian Bay right in your back yard. like any town, it has it's problems with affordability and drugs however for better or worse it is largely out of sight out of mind.
Well that's sad, I've been living in London for almost 10 years. I love the place. Also, winters over here are not cold enough and keep getting warmer. I wish I could live in the northern places to experience -30 to -40 frequently. It's great and I can see so much snow! London just simply has boring winters. Also, I don't live in the downtown area at all. It's a very boring place to be in.
What's minimum temperature ever hit in London ON, Does it ever Go below -30 or the Max is -25 ? I am asking this as I need to get the type of Jacket from India which may be needed there 😂 Also Winters last from November to May ... Horrible !!!
@@DivineBansuri Unfortunately, it doesn't go to the -30s anymore. I remember it used to back in 2016 or so, and even went down to maybe -33. Now, it only goes to a minimum of -20.

I still love London but we do have a severe problem with homeless individuals and drug use. I must admit that I haven't been downtown to shop since the 1990's because of safety issues. There is plenty of stores elsewhere!

I lived in London Ontario since 1969 there's been a lot of changes for the most part it was a good city to live in😊 until about 2005 then things started but then I noticed other cities are the same as London Ontario if anybody that doesn't like living here don't live here go somewhere else and you'll find that the other cities are all the same all the same problems there is not a city that doesn't have the same problems as London Ontario in Canada it is worse than other countries so if you're a Canadian suck it up with you could be living in a in a country where there is war starvation to et cetera
No jobs in here. I am trying to find part time job as student, none. It's like I am just one of the people trying to apply and is just a number and it sucks when I don't know someone for a referral. I want to save up abit too, but also looking at the environment, theres alot of homeless people I think this just means there arent much jobs in here to sustain them plus high rent, high prices, drugs , more people, it is probably like a battle royale out here, I hope I can find job soon. Or I pray for better days that economy improve and everyone lives an ok life.
I was born and raised in London and it's too bad to see what it's become. It was a nice place to grow up in the 60's to 80's. I live in BC now and never think of moving back. The whole country is a mess now unfortunately.
The end about our winters is not true. Put on 2 layers of pants, a few sweaters under your jacket, GOOD insulated rubber boots, double warm socks, gloves, hat, scarf and you're perfectly fine. Heck it doesn't snow that much I only wear my winter winter boots a handful of times in the winter.
unfortunately, I live in london. I was born and raised here, and as a blind person, I feel this city's very unfriendly. ok, we have the CNIB, like alot of canada, but I just feel that it is. you can agree, or disagree, as you're entitled to your opinion just like I'm entitled to mine. I'm saying that to the many people who might comment differently. but, I won't get started on why I've grown to hate it here, as the list is too long.
The only reason I agree with you on is traffic. For a city this size there is no reason why London should not have a ring road around the city to ease. congestion. We moved here after retiring from North Bay which has a bypass around the town.If a smaller place like that can have a ring road why can’t London?
Overall its much better than the "Centre of the Universe". However, we've lived here 37 years and as the city population grows, the police response times and other city services are inconsistent. Meanwhile as our property taxes escalate, we pay more for less!
I grew in San Diego by my parents grew in Southern Ontario after the Vietnam war. So mainly my family lives there. I been there many times. I definitely recommend to live in Northern London instead of Downtown or Southern. The north part of the city is safer and cleaner. I agree that it is very expensive but winters are mildly cold but summers are super hot and humid. It feels hotter than San Diego’s summer.
The downtown is definitely suffering right now. We like North London but there are also many other nice areas. We plan to make another video about homes for sale and possible neighborhoods.
City planning is horrendous in London. They will approve huge high rises 40 feet apart, way too close. There’s homeless everywhere, especially on the Thames Vally Parkway, a beautiful path system, and in my opinion the best thing about London, ruined by camps, and the police don’t do anything. The downtown is ugly, boring and offers nothing. There’s some nice neighborhoods in London though. Traffic can be brutal especially in rush hour.
Congratulations on your new job. Like everywhere London has its pros and cons. London is one of our favorite places in our search. Be sure to watch this video too. th-cam.com/video/F3_6qy10dLc/w-d-xo.html

Everything you mentioned is accurate. I live here and it’s one of the most depressing city. Also the homeless are just increasing. Its scarier to go out especially in the evening in downtown. Downtown should be considered most happening place but not in London ontario. This place is soo soo soo depressing 😔and people are racist as well. Junk city of canada
As a person that lives in london ontario, I would just say stay on the west side of london, east side or downtown just filled with weuird homeless and gay people, west side is more new and clean compared to east or central.
You are right about the homelessness. They are places in London that are affordable. There are nice places in downtown. Transportation is not a big problem. It would be a big problem if there were huge traffic jams. Winters ! Come on.
True. London is warmer than Ottawa. Niagara region is warmer than London. Vancouver is dark and rainy. If we end of living in Canada we will probably go south in the winters as we are not fond of cold.
I love the cold the colder, the better , as to other issues your right , we have other issues not mentioned , Like a woke bird city counsel , they want to paint a rainbow flag on every corner , Major disorganization it cant sustain the people already here , its over crowed , Hospitals over crowed 24 hours just to be seen , mostly due to overpopulation and city not willing to try and reduce the population , its turning into a parking lot with unaffordable condos , and all the roads being dug up that didn't need any maintenance in the first place , city buses they change the routes and don't give any information on where the alternate stop is , even if they say go to another stop usually it's not the correct one , and when it is its so far out of your way you might as well just call a Checker, also they change the routes on the dime which means you could be waiting at the stop for 2 hours before you realize the stop is out of service . It gets even better the cops are arrogant and thing their cheap pice of tin give them the righ to do what they want . If you want to do something downtown after 6pm good luck as the only to-do is go to the bar and get gibbled , Even Tim Hortons closes after 6pm , in the down town core , And yes the homless , the city counsel would rather argue about whose turn it is to buy the coffee then to get anything done. If your looking to live somewhere, stay way from London.

True a lot of the categories are the same for most of the places we visit. When you compare London to other places there are many with better weather, lower rents and better downtowns. Right now London is really struggling with homelessness and addictions.
I live here since 1972. City has gone downhill in past few years because of the lousy politicians who have destroyed the city with poor planning, Developers get anything they want to the detriment of residential neighbourhoods. High taxes, limited dining, and a bad mix of immigrant populations together with very poor traffic control. Traffic in Toronto moves better than it does here.
I think the biggest problem in London right now is the homeless situation. A lot of talks are being held to come up with solutions….. Downtown used to be a much better place than it is now.

@@estephshamcey3492 London Ontario is a very safe place compared to most cities in the world. Fanshawe College in London is a great school. London does have a big homeless problem right now but it is mainly in the downtown area.
Bad woke governance has left the city in the downtown in tatters. I have lived there all my life until 2000. Moved to the country just north. Less taxes, more land and nobody complaining about how much noise you make. I don't even like driving to work in London. I hate it.

@@beckyosas8364 Hi Becky
We are working on two videos about Ottawa right now.
The banana belt, eh, lol. What's that make Windsor than? Full on tropics I guess.
Where did you end up living?
@@ShouldWeLiveHere I live in Toronto at the moment, moved back in 2019, but the city has gone down hill, so I will likely move out in the next few years.
Sad to see what had become of London especially the downtown
Try walking in downtown even during the day time, you'll get attacked by a hobo with a needle
Just avoid downtown, ppl usually prefer northern area. Oh 1 bed 1 bath usually costs $2k per month, by the way.
I would say the people of London Ontario are the main reason not to move there. Not friendly, not like Montreal, even the the people of Toronto are friendlier although there is a high crime rate. Secondly job opportunities, not a lot. And lastly there is virtually nothing to do in London, unless you like to sit in a bar all day or walk around in a mall (they only have two malls.

um London has like 5-6 malls. Westmount, Cherryhill, Masonville, Whiteoaks, Argyle, CitiPlaza, Sherwood forest mall, and a couple more little ones.

Wow! Thanks for all your insight into living in London, ON. Much appreciated! 😊👍🏻⭐️

I think wherever it’s cold is cold.
