I'm always amazed by The Four Seasons. When they first had their breakthrough in 1962, they were awkard and Valli's voice could make you deaf. But in 1967, they wrote some of the greatest songs ever made, this one and Can't Take My Eyes Off You

My grandpa used to play the 4 seasons when he used to drive me to my swimming lessons when I was 9. I loved this song. Frankie Valli had such a unique voice. I’m 42 now. @@OHOWUNEEDIT Your comment would apply more to C'mon Marianne, which competed with Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You. There was so much great music in that era that great songs like this had a hard time making the top 10. The 4 Seasons did maybe their best songs overall, from 65-69, but they were struggling to keep up with everything. Same with the Beach Boys. they were the holdovers from the pre Beatle era. It still made the top 20, but listening to it 50+ years later, it shows just how much the groups sound had evolved. It wasn't dated. It was fresh and contemporary. Even now, it sounds vibrant, while their early super hits, sound dated.
@@howardschwartz4098 It is subjective. A very different sound. Rag Doll still gives me chills hearing it, but the Vee Jay songs don't. Most all my favorites are from Rag Doll on, especially the 65-69 singles. I do admit that Beggin has grown on me more than any of their songs, through the years.

It was only today that I discovered Madcon did a cover, A COVER! Of a Franki Valli song!!!
Same for me ..today...
I was today years old
MY MIND HAS BEEN BLOWN
I'm you right now XD
I just found out who madcon was
people in 1967: 🎶beggin’, beggin’ youuuu🎶
people in 2021: 🎶beggin’, beggin’ youuuu🎶
people in 2007: 🎶beggin’, beggin’ youuuu🎶
people in 3000: 🎶beggin', beggin' youuuu🎶
People in infinity beggin, beggin, youuuu
don't forget ratatatata
Maneskin sucks
This song is a masterpiece, no matter who sang it.. it stood the test of time!
It might just be the cover influencing my opinion but this sounds incredibly modern. The melody, drumming, all of it. Seems a lot more advanced than basically any song of its kind from the 60s.
It has very modern sound, it could easily become a hit nowadays. I know there a lot of covers, but this song itself is very progressive and sassy
it has 😂
@@jackbj you think this was the original ? Fool....
They probably were time traveler...
Yes, it sounds like a hit from these times
Lots of '60s songs have modern sounds
An Italian created this song, and now an italian band brought it back to success 🇮🇹❤️
And at that time they were like 16/18 years old!
@@maxabbrescia YES Bob Gaudio started composing at age15
They’re not italian. They are American
@@fleecejohnson1516 Their blood just doesn't turn "American" because they were born and brought up there. C'mon now. They're Italian ethnically. Nationality changes based on residence but your blood doesn't.
@@panjabipandit half American half Italian
Heard this on The Crown. Had to have it. Didn't even realize it was The Four Seasons and I'm a big fan of theirs. So talented.
I just watched Frankie and the gang sing this last night at Pechanga. An outstanding performance.
He puts on a great show and he still has it.
damn that recent? actual powerhouse
The writer of this song is a genius. It is so dang good.
Thank god the Crown season 3 reunited me with this song. I’ve been on a mission to add oldies to my music library but have a bad memory, so shows and movies go a long way in helping lmao
Feel the same!
And you scolded me that I used the word "underrated" Tsk tsk.
Try these.
Otis Redding
Fats Domino
Eva Cassidy
Louis Armstrong
The Four Tops
Bobby Womack
Timmy Thomas
Jefferson Airplane
Percy Sledge
Bobby Darin
The Platers
Dire Straights
Nina Simone
Heard a song on a jukebox in a store that sells toys from different eras. Asked the guy what it was and he didn't know.
But I wrote down the lyrics I could remember when I got in my car. Still can't find it. Lost the paper with the lyrics I managed to get and all I got left are the la's.
It's a song lamenting not getting together with someone sung by a woman. I'll know it when I hear it again.
I even tried looking it up by the type of jukebox it was with the song* number. The list wasn't on it or on the internet and I've been peeved ever since.
@@psyolytesaille you can hum the song for your smartphone's "what's this song?" feature, if it has one
I first heard madcon’s version thinking it was the original. Then i heard this song and realized this was actually the original. And i was just listening to maneskins cover and now im back to the original haha. I love how each of them do it in their own music style. But my favorite is madcons version
I love all 3 for different reasons. The intro to the madcon one is fire though.
Same. Madcon's version is lit af
I'm always amazed by The Four Seasons. When they first had their breakthrough in 1962, they were awkard and Valli's voice could make you deaf.
But in 1967, they wrote some of the greatest songs ever made, this one and Can't Take My Eyes Off You
Not one of The Four Seasons hits back in the day, but it's been covered a lot these days. No one of my peers remembered it - I almost thought I was going crazy!! lol! Such an underrated song - it deserved to be resurrected and experience the potential it always possessed!!!
The Iron Claw brought me here. And i glad i found this song.
Me too..I was thinking it was a song from 90's- 2000's..
Iron Claw got me back into this song and is the reason I am currently listening to this version. I always thought this song was from the 80s to 2000s so I wondered why it had been featured in Iron Claw until I found out its from the 60s. Brilliant tune!
Same. And the irony of the song because although they were dancing 2 it, the strength of the lyrics would be soon be relatable 4 Kevin VE.
Same
Incredibile come questo pezzo sia sempre meravigliodo e senza tempo b, tutte versioni una piu bella dell' altra...onore grande alla prima versione
It's cool to see a song become so appreciated. It seems only after decades that you can TRULY appreciate a song in its entirety. Seeing how it ages is the sign of a truly great song.
One of the most influential songs in history, no doubt. Way ahead of its time
My grandpa used to play the 4 seasons when he used to drive me to my swimming lessons when I was 9. I loved this song. Frankie Valli had such a unique voice. I’m 42 now. Seeing kids thinking this song was originally by Madcon makes me chuckle. There are so many modern songs that are just remakes of old 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s songs, you’ll be shocked. Glad at least you guys have good taste. You make the music I grew up listening to, live on through new versions and remixes.
First time hearing this and I gotta say....this song was *WELL* ahead of its time
No wonder it's received so many well known covers
Love love LOVE this song!!! No matter who covers it!
Crazy how our taste in music doesn't change
55 year old this song and it's still great to this day. Songs nowadays wish they had this kind of staying power.
Every version I’ve heard of this is just a bop
What a classic tune enough said.
All the versions are so good, good lord.
I remember when it came it out in 1967. Hearing the new version on Spotify bought back so many memories.
Thank you The Crown for showing me this masterpiece
Went bananas when I heard the new release and forgot that I had rocked it already in my young days, same with Rag Doll just saw Jersey Boys and was blownn away again. What a life, love you Frankie ❤
Wolfskane Italian group
Love Shqocking Blue's version
Their manager or someone in charge missed the boat with this song. I think it’s so sharp! Should’ve been bigger than Rag Doll anyway lol
Larry James This song came out right before “Can’t Take My Eyes off of You”. Just got blindsided by Frankie solo. Great tune!
Great song head of it's time.
Bigger than Rag Doll
No way.
I Love "Rag Doll" too!
💞
the original is like a long drive while you pass countrysides and sing by yourself with the window down, the madcon version is like you are listening to it while walking down the street and grooving a little and feeling happy, the maneskin version is you headbanging in your room while the song plays at full volume in the dark. all amazing.
Its a perfect example how times have changed and become darker..
Mfer I'm dancing to the main one in the streets. Such a banger
And here I am listening to this one in my dark room at 3:30am
You catch very well the differences of these versions. I do agree, all of them can be apreciated in different moments and cowerage differents styles and tastes.
@@ReadytoDiveIn can't go to a long drive any time we want....gotta adapt mate :')
the original is absolutely amazing, so much heart and soul
the covers are as good and amazing but the original is the best
Man, I love it. Searched for this after hearing so many different adaptions.
Beggin' and California Dreamin' are my standouts for '60s music.
This 1967 hit still resonates even today!!!!
My mind can't comprehend a song like this was made in those times, that's skill and talent
I appreciate this group so much they didnt realize how much influence they implemented like wow they are beautifully talented omg
There's something about the way he sings "I'm fighting hard to hold my own, no, I just can't make it on my own." That kinda hits hard. =(
I love the other versions to death but none of them can beat the chills you get at 1:14
i was searching for this song for almost 6 years. I FINALLY FOUND IT AND JUST AFTER I FOUND IT I HEARD IT IN THE CROWN.
Ngl I did NOT expect this song to come from them. 😂 I was pleasantly surprised!
All 3 groups that sang this have different interpretations of the song... So beautiful
Gotta love how the song has Influenced countless people. My Respect Frankie and 4 Seasons
Damn man, Franki Valli really is the OG
This is a great song and each version of it I've heard has also been good.
Masterpieces breaking trough time again and again
This is the best version of Beggin
I LOVE THIS ONE!!! The cover is great, but wooooow! The original is magical!
Holy shit i thought this was written in the 2000's it sounds so modern. And Frankly valley sang the original?? That floors me man. What a gem of a song. Respect
