I love how your videos are laid out. From the icons in the corners to an absolutely perfect increase in speed. Fast enough to keep it from being boring, slow enough to allow us to understand everything that's going on. Perfect.
I was forced to move to Mn from Tx for work. This video hits me in the gut. It is a God given right to be able to hit the freeway, turn up the trance music and glide to your destination. Without having to constantly hit your brakes or enduring miles of city blocks, stoplights, and potholes. I have to endure subaru's driving below the speed limit in the left lane. Texans know how to do it right! Thanks dude!
I like the new exit signs that you're using. I didn't realize the Katy widening was a combined effort betwen the HCTRA and TxDOT, although it makes perfect sense now as to why the freeway is so wide.
I had the opportunity to drive on the Katy Freeway during my recent visit to Texas and comparing them to Seattle's freeways, Houston's freeway's are way, way better. I look forward to returning to Texas sometime in the not too distant future.
That was a hot road. I like how they had the HOV lane divided and how it went up above the rest of the road on parts of the freeway. I would have been about as thrilled as Dwight Eisenhower would have if he saw the freeway.
something about driving in Houston and San Antonio and seeing how the huge American and Texas flags displayed proudly along the highway puts a smile on my face. I hope to see a new video when the interchange at the grand parkway is complete! Keep up the good work
@ScrewdUPClickV2 - Correct, widest part is 20 lanes and only for a short section. It generally ranges between 10 and 16, so the Katy has it beat. (It could certainly use a Katy treatment, but good luck finding community support for it)
@prfsnlwannabe: Not sure how technical we're getting, but the eastbound and westbound lanes are separated by at least a mile, if not more, over the grade. I'm not sure if that really constitutes as physical ROW, however.
My only complaint with this freeway is how all of the signage for the HOV and HOT lanes (with their rules and their lists of prices, schedules, and exclusive exits) are sensory overload, totally incomprehensible at-speed. They distract the out-of-towner (even one from Texas) who's just trying to navigate through the city, and force him to to move to the right, away from the "elite lanes," for fear of unintentionally doing something wrong that will cost him more than it's worth.
This is really good, especially the exit signs, they look like the REAL ones TXDOT and others use. Great job on that one! Anyway, I'm wondering where the overlay tracks video is, I've been waiting for a week for it.
Really nice freeway, but from my laptop it looks like it needs maintenance. When they widen up these highways they should put on a new layer asphalt as well. But truly a nice vid!
I've uploaded some of my beginner freeway videos back when I was in Dallas, i was riding shotgun and using my camera phone to film, what sux is that my videos have no sound. I flimed Loop 12 from I-30 to I-35E and I-35E and part fo I-635
I went this way last weekend and didnt seem all that impressed compared to the high 5 in DFW or the Woodall Rodgers elevated park/tunnel project. i was also half asleep so that may have had something to do with it.
1) the 1968 section of i-10 is still under construction today so they missed their dead line :( and 2) are you documenting the construction of 99? im sure you know that it will encircle houston as 610 and beltway8 are..
@tracifritz bro you've obviously never driven in houston...traffics sucks, roads suck, freeways suck.....but they are getting better slowly, very slowly with construction that has been going on since the begining of time. dont let anyone tell you otherwise about houston roads...i drive them everyday. however, i-10...yeah i'll say its not bad
only thing I dislike about the Katy Freeway video is the whiny female singer (Nadia Ali) ugh, why is it that women have to sing about cheating lying men? ugh, deal with your drama some other way, get over it.

just a quick correction. Exit 760 is BINGLE RD & VOSS RD (not Bingie & Vess). But this is a really awesome video. Thanks for posting!
Amazing infrastructure... Texas has got it's freeways right!!!!
I went all over the U.S. when i was in the military...and no state fly's their flags the way we do here in Texas!!!!
This is your best video yet! Great detail on covering the I-10, great annotations and exit signs, and of course, great music! Keep it up!
Excellent video all around (Content, Graphics, Music) one of your best! HUGE Thumbs up!
Great vid! The music and the views are getting me amped up for my move to this strange city.

Love this ride! Learned to drive in the fast lane right here! No Fear!
Has the new Katy already been used in a hurricane evacuation? Would be cool with a contraflow of 26 lanes all going in one direction.
I remember seeing the Texas star on those pillars

It's true you can't compare to any other freeway in the U.S. This freeway is awesome beyond my comprehension xDD
Favorite hwy in all of Texas...
