I have some hot takes on speedrunning and I'm glad I got to demonstrate them in a way at ESA this summer. This showcase was very different from any other run I've done in the past and I was unusually nervous at the start, but in the end I think it turned out to be maybe the favorite marathon run that I've ever done. Hope you enjoy it!
I really enjoyed this during the marathon. I think Hitman is a perfect demonstration of speedrunning as an artform. You gave us awesome insight into both your abilities as a router, and some of the more subtle mechanics of the AI and game engine. This was the perfect encapsulation of why stealth games are my favorite genre -- it's a shame that they're so difficult and risky to develop.
Genuinely I don't find WR speedruns all that entertaining, the most entertaining ones are the ones that either break the game in odd ways that make me wonder how it was found, or just genuinely entertaining. Your Arabian Nights and Hitman speedruns are perfect at doing those
That's why I enjoy Naeglearias (or however it was spelled) Sonic 1 Speedrun. He straight up reseted the console and used the debug menu to skip levels when something didn't work out, nobody complained and everyone was having a blast due to how funny he was. I wish more live speedruns were like that.
kinda same, i watch WR when i want to see something done nearly perfectly, but the thing is, i much prefer slower runners when it comes to entertainment, Runners like Joshimuz, Hugo One, English Ben and especially Kotti are much more entertaining to watch.
yeah, Marathon runs that employs some of the most impressive high-risk high-reward tactics to save at least 5 seconds to me is impressive. That's why I like seeing Kotti play Hitman.
I love the idea and the execution as well. It allows you to show a lot of tech, talk about the systems, etc. Probably one of the best "runs" on this channel and one of the best videos period.
Ah, what a throwback... Used to love Blood Money as a kid... Tossing a rigged toolbox at the opera at the balconies, blowing up the Diddler, the wedding mission with the next mission after it having the news show a recently married widow on a spending binge... The rehab clinic... Damn...
@TheKrisDragoev ugh such a tired old phrase, I think you should refrain from posting, you better save those two neurons you have left for when you need them the most
I love speed runs and have for a long time now. This was extremely fun to watch. I laughed during the second part when all of the guards were piled up outside of the bosses room 😂
If i learned one thing about speedrunning its that every category every style every player deserves their attention and it brings the scene to shine in its fullest with their uniqueness.
I really like what you have to say on the subject. I thought this a long time ago, speedrunning for time is overrated, but swag strats and style playthroughs from very talented players are soooooo cool! I wish more people would adopt your mentality. I always hated when there was just a clean, AWESOME trick in a run, and then a new discovery is made and that amazing strat or entire route gets tossed out like yesterday's garbage... Very cool video, dude!
this is my favourite map in my favourite Hitman game, I've spent so much time on it, I never once realised you can kill the wife with the skylight. If this was a "blow a guy's mind" speedrun video you did it in 2 minutes 17 seconds.
Just find out this video on the main page, but It is a pleasure to see someone playing one of my favorite game of all time at this level in 2024, gj mate!
i remember taking that guy out in a casual playthrough by getting him to go into the panic room, then going into the room to the right side of the main entrance, slowly assembling my sniper rifle from my suitcase, shooting him through 3 closed doors, slowly disassembling the rifle and leaving without anyone noticing what happened :D
Normally I don't like speed running. Especially speed running the freaking legendary Hitman! But I loved every bit of this one. Didn't know that FBI could overrun your target just like that :)
It's getting really late and I should be going to bed. "speed is overrated." alright, you have my attention... I only played the 2016 Hitman game and was really surprised by the art decisions on this one (like the game showing different "cameras" when the security guard found the dead woman and the moment back up arrives as if it was a movie). Think I'll try it some other time. Also that was a funny playthrough to watch.
I'm following Hitman content and speedrun for years but the game never clicked to me, it's weird. Watching this and your message in the end about why you enjoy the game and how to approach made me want to try it alot. I know the game and i know the fun in it, i'll not stop giving playing it a chance. Great video! Amazing explanations and good work on the routes!
Such an entertaining and unique take on speed running also my favorite level in blood money since i played this on release as a kid! Enjoyed it alot good stuff!
yo Kotti, just wanted to say I hope you’re having a great day so far. My day hasn’t been the best, but it’s sure to improve with this upload. I make a great effort to only support wholesome people like yourself, thanks for always being one of the greats in the world
Finally someone who attempts in real challenges instead of just being fast for the sake of fast. This speedruns I will watch. Btw, this is exactly how these games supposed to be played, and not that "optimized fun" on well-trodden rails type trap which most people fall into. Thanks you!
exhibition run? since you're primarily displaying what's possible in a game and having a laugh as you do it. challenge run implies you're playing with a self imposed handicap, whether in the game or irl. whatever it is, this kinda "world record" chasing mentality needs to die. it sucks the fun out of everything.
found that when i was searching for video to watch when eating food liked it and how u explain what u doing on the screen. btw u sounded a little bit stressed or maybe im trippin lmao
"Speed is not the most important thing" he says as he blitzes through 8 runs of the same level, almost flawlessly. Lol Edit: this is ridiculously impressive!

Don't care how I LOVE seeing you back in action don't even care if it's not hitman, keep doing what your doing man!

Didn't you made a reaction video about this a few weeks ago or something
yea
👍

I actually use the most low-risk strats there are and try to make them look impressive. Makes for a better party trick.
@@TheKottiand it makes for fantastic entertainment :)
Most based speedrunning take I've seen in years. Good Job sir.
Glad you enjoyed!
Based? Based on what?
@@ToiletCloggerDemonon a true story
Hitman, the only game where you can be a silent assassin by drawing undue attention to yourself
I love the idea and the execution as well. It allows you to show a lot of tech, talk about the systems, etc.
Probably one of the best "runs" on this channel and one of the best videos period.
This is why Kotti will always be my favorite speedrunner
really impressive showcase, how much you can learn in this game EVEN TODAY is beyond impressive
love your content kotti, stay awesome
a bit like the military is not about shooting, it's about knowing how to fold your socks when you return them
Is that a quote from someone or is there background story on that? It's really interesting to me
@@RicolasFandango Not a quote, just the military experience. Kotti has a lot of finnish viewers, hence people who can relate
the most important things are creativity and the ability to explain what's happening. Kotti taught me that and this video is a great example.
Ah, what a throwback... Used to love Blood Money as a kid... Tossing a rigged toolbox at the opera at the balconies, blowing up the Diddler, the wedding mission with the next mission after it having the news show a recently married widow on a spending binge... The rehab clinic... Damn...
I've been watching speedrunning marathons since the early 2010s and this is one of the most interesting runs I've seen. Thank you for the showcase!
The run where Kotti made the car run the target over is genius and worthy of an oscar ❤❤
Hitman Blood Money speedrunning as an art form
Speedrunning is dead, long live Kottirunning
wake up babe, new kotti hitman speedrun dropped
I wish he did a new Anthology Speedrun upto Hitman 3
I rewatched his original Anthology speedrun countless times
@TheKrisDragoev ugh such a tired old phrase, I think you should refrain from posting, you better save those two neurons you have left for when you need them the most
@RepugnanciaDulzona youre fun

@yvonetubla7682 thanks :)

11:50 tough crowd, that was a brilliant joke;
"these guards are looking for the shooter so they don't care about me"
I love watching this every year

Really cool had a blast watching this video! Thank you Kotti
Played this game a bunch of times back in the day and didn’t even know you could use the skylight to kill the wife… good stuff man
I rewatch all these runs every year, really love what you do
Return of the king 👑
Blood Money GOAT
It's getting really late and I should be going to bed.
"speed is overrated."
alright, you have my attention...

man that whiff with baseball bat was good
Such an entertaining and unique take on speed running also my favorite level in blood money since i played this on release as a kid! Enjoyed it alot good stuff!
Crazy how you made up all of these creative ways of completing this mission in less than two weeks.

all zeros on the first try as well. very smooth mr. kotty, very smooth.
This is awesome haha, one of the best levels in blood money! Still better than the new game, pushing people is OG
Honestly, the first 20 seconds of this video is simply life lessons 😅
I feel like my life is better after watching this
Finally someone who attempts in real challenges instead of just being fast for the sake of fast. This speedruns I will watch.

This is what is cool about games in general… speed running has a very specific goal
I can stay up for 23 more minutes...
11:15 underrated moment
glad you didn't comment on it, it makes the joke land perfectly
That hype train of guards on the second run "Hey look it's Kotti ! We're big fans"
MY FRIEND YOUR VIDEOS HELPED ME SLEEP FOR ALONG TIME THANK YOU ❤
You're welcome 😊
Awesome commentary
excellent commentary
thats insane dude! i loved this game when it came out.
7:11 pinnacle of AI
omg this was one of the most entertaining videos about videosgames ever XD
Best Name for your channel : Violent Assassin
This is why I love games.
Kotti is always funny to watch, he is killing it every time yet somehow always sounds humble
So glad to watch more Blood Money here!
Great content as always! Hitman BM never gets old
When speed stops mattering, it's not speedrunning anymore. It's something else. Challenge running?
exhibition run? since you're primarily displaying what's possible in a game and having a laugh as you do it. challenge run implies you're playing with a self imposed handicap, whether in the game or irl.
whatever it is, this kinda "world record" chasing mentality needs to die. it sucks the fun out of everything.
Creative speedruns
Every game company should have a speedrunner who quality tests their AI
Jesus Christ the ending is existential crisis inducing
why?
Very fun to watch, as always.
Why am i watching this?
lol me too
I didn’t know you were at ESA, great showcase!
It's 5:07 am and i don't have anything to do with blood money speedruns but i found it now i'll watch it
This was an absolutely showcase! I love it~
God if I had known that such a passage of this part would have such a viewership. I know all these ways, I passed it the same way every time.
found that when i was searching for video to watch when eating food liked it and how u explain what u doing on the screen. btw u sounded a little bit stressed or maybe im trippin lmao
legendary game legendary tricks
i remember watched these tricks from several yt channel literally made every one so speechless, good old days
Клёво быть челом, который так увлечён игрушками в преклонном возрасте.
Man this all zeroes run is really stylish😂😂
It's always fun, watching you performing art, Bro! Would love to see an Absolution run from you after all the years 😎
Mad how time works as this game feels about 5-6yrs ago and it came out in 2006
Best Hitman game
dude😂😂 first mission was so much funny how fast that was hahaha
Games Done Expertly > Games Done Quick
Yes! Speed becomes much more interesting when you start adding other more or less arbitrary parameters 🙃
Hitman Blood Money was my most favorite.
the king of hitman
Great run idea, thanks for the upload
Awesome, Good to see you Kotti.
9:13 - Such a painful way to die, to be pushed into the swimming pool like that. 😖
I feel I've already seen this video be uploaded??
trespass is a civil matter according to auditors
Such a Masterpiece
Nice to see that game in 2024
The best hitman level, imo.
I enjoy your "speedruns" Kotti. When will you do another Hitman anthology?
5:35 The guard is witnessing the murder?
kotti the very pro of hitman
Usual Kotti W
Trespassing is not a crime really got me 🤣😂
Run 3 was godly
I didn't even know you could shoot the sky light to kill her.
I don't think gdq was good about speed running since like 2013. So I agree with making it more entertaining or interesting
"Speed is not the most important thing" he says as he blitzes through 8 runs of the same level, almost flawlessly. Lol
Edit: this is ridiculously impressive!
awesome show, cheers
Well done.
Man was low key annoyed when the guy said he wanted to read donations. Brother was in the middle of sayin some stuff ahaha
9:34 "Sir" 😂😂😂
This was excellent
Great video
