I dont know if this is an easter egg but in Joel's house next to his bed is a book about space with glasses next to it meaning that Joel was reading about space so he could make conversation with Ellie on a topic she likes, which I think is so bittersweet.
My favourite easter egg is in the musem, when Elli calls Joel a fossil. This is a nod to the start of the first game, where his daughter bought him a birthday card that also calls him a fossil.
That's what makes Naughty Dog games so special. Not only are they great looking with quality writing and acting with top tier gameplay. But the atention to detail. Nothing seems random. Makes the games feel so extra special. The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II are feels games.
Not hating on Abby’s playthroughs, but I wish the game really was focused more on a Ellie and her flashbacks with Joel. That fossil joke just showed Joel how similar they were and it would’ve been nice to see more flashbacks like that...

When I was upgrading Abby’s semi-auto pistol I discovered another Easter Egg: The gun’s serial number is “BIG1 11-19-2K07” which is the release date of the first Uncharted game, “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune”. Also, there is an additional date inscribed on the chamber of the barrel on that same gun, but it’s different from the first. It reads, “11 06-14-2K13”, which is the release date of the original TLOU.. Although I don’t know why they put the 11 before it.. But yeah... Kind of cool, huh?
Uncharted's codename was Project Big, so that's why it has that in the serial number on the gun. Also, I haven't bothered to check but I'm guessing TLOU was Naughty Dog's 11th game overall.
In the final flashback where Joel revealed he was drinking coffee, I burst into tears because I REMEMBER him mentioning how much he misses it in the first game. 😭 Least he got to taste some for a time before what happened...
I started crying to over that as well. But that whole last flashback made me cry and also feel kinda good and then sad again. Joel got to have his cup of coffee ( to have your rare almost last coffee, beer, sigaret, joint in the appocalypse must be the best) The last thing joel and ellie said to eachother was ellie trying to forgive him. And realizing this was his last night before going out for patrol the next morning. Damn the feels and thats only the joel part.
When ellie is about to take the sheep into the barn she says to dina "I'm the hearding master", which is a callback to what she says to Riley if she wins the car window breaking competition "I'm the brick master"
I think in uncharted the outbreak almost happened but it was like the corona were it died down after a bit basically uncharted is the alternate universe of the last of us lol
When ellie takes her first rope swing in the game, dina asks her " you okay?" And ellie says "yeah, nothing to it." In uncharted 4, when nate takes his first rope swing, Sam asks him "you 'kay?" And guess what nate says, " nothing to it." Pretty cool right?
there's one moment when Ellie and Dina have to open one of those garage doors. When Ellie is pulling the chain she says "take your time" and Dina replies "just a minute", that's an exact copy of a situation with Joel and Ellie in the original
The game was amazing, breath-taking and dark. Kind of feel sorry for those who won't get to experience it the way it was intended. I love the attention to detail, this video is really well made!

The segment when Abby runs into Manny going head-on with the sniper. The diner she was in had broken plates on the floor similar to Ellie's boss fight with David. In fact the diner resembled the diner from previous TLOU. The Abby and Ellie cat and mouse boss fight shown shades of Ellie and David.
That joke is top tier because it A) implies they've never had Pizza and B) They actually don't get Pizza. Love Ellie and that Joke book in the first game. It's so fucking classy. I would often just waste time to hear if there was another joke to be told.
Here’s one: the main menu screen post ending (major spoilers inc). That’s NOT the Rattler hideout (completely different roof). The Firefly on the radio told Abby they’re on Catalina Island in a giant domed building in Avalon. If you Google Image Avalon California, you’ll see Catalina Island (the same Catalina Wine Mixer rich resort island from Stepbrothers). The domed building with flags on it is a casino. The boat is docked on a beach, and if you check the maps it’s directly north of the domed building by the cliffs. In other words: this suggests Abby and Lev got a relatively ending (despite losing everyone they loved) and made it to the safety of the Fireflies that were 200+ in number. The domed building is completely different than the domed building the Rattlers were in (that Ellie reached on the mainland without a boat). The guy on the radio was NOT a Rattler.
My favorite easter egg was during the beginning of the game. Ellie is listening to a song with her headphones. The song she's listening to is called Through the Valley by Shawn James which was the song she did a cover of in the 2016 reveal trailer. I thought it was a cool call back.
If you buy Uncharted 3: Drakes deception Explorer Edition, you get a sic parvis magna ring replica and a drake action figure etc. If the uncharted games are puchasable in The Last of Us universe, then the replica rings from the Explorer Editions of Uncharted 3 would be in The Last of Us universe too. Makes sense to me.

The Last of Us is like an alternate reality or something where the virus did spread but in Uncharted it doesn't, even in the future (because we see Nate's teenage daughter living normally and not running from clickers.)
There is 1 other easter egg i can think of in the last of us 2. In the begining where joel and ellie where walking towards to the museum and ellie was guessing what the suprise is gonna be the first thing she says was a dinosaur but in the left behind dlc when riley and ellie where going about riley had a suprise for her to and ellie said is it a dinosaur its a fun little easter egg that i saw

A few that I noticed The achievement for finding the ring is "Great but small" Referencing the translation of Sic Parvis Magna Nate's costume from Uncharted 2 can be seen as a Halloween costume hanging in a store, like in the first game Joel talks about seeing Jurassic Park Ellie says that a Diplodocus looks like a Giraffe, referencing how the scene in the first game where they pet the giraffe, and the scene in Jurassic Park where they pet that dino are similar. The Turning arcade machine reappears from the first game and it's DLC
Theres a reference in the second flash back I believe, when Joel, Tommy and Ellie are in the lodge, you can find a savage starlight comic but when you flip it over, the company that produces the comics is “Dark Horse comics” who published “the last of us, American dreams” prequel comic by Druckmann and Faith Erin Hicks
In that one segment when Manny was hanging with Abby at around close to the beginning of the second half. Manny did an anime reference when he said something about a girl and a wolf. I was like, That's Princess Mononoke!
Not sure if it's been mentioned already, but the book Abby is reading at the start of her side of the story is "City of Thieves" by GOT scribe David Benioff. It's actually an excellent read.
The DnD set up in the abandon apartment was one of my faves. One of the guys who worked on it said there were a few locations that had ttrpg refs in them.

Reg. stuffed giraffe, there is one in the first game too, in the beginning, in the black market, there is a little girl who plays with a dirty, worn out copy of this stuffed giraffe and if Joel approaches her, she becomes protective of her toy. When Joel walks away, she resumes playing with it. A very moving moment if you ask me.
This game hits me with nostalgia, because it genuinely feels like the world stopped in 2013, just the small details. Kids of that generation will know what I mean. I love it honestly, walking around seeing the past again is surreal in a sense I always wanted time to stop when I was a kid. & for some weird reason LOU2 gives me that. When I found the ring in the bank I honestly thought what if Drake was a bank robber, and that he and the whole gang were living in a other world paradox in LOU2 they're evil and break the law.
I found the Dr. Uckmann card on my second play through, then it clicked. I love this little addition and how his affiliation is the "New Dogs". Nice little details :P
Oohh you didnt mention this but at the beginning Gustavo is playing the banjo with his healer dog. I only noticed cus im a bit of a fan of Gustavo's. I was like wtf is that... lol just in case your wondering, Gustavo wrote music for last of us 1 and 2. I thought it was pretty neat!
I’m Ellie’s room on her shelf with the ps3 if you look at the way top of the shelf you can see she has multiple long boxes of comics. Showing that she’s been collecting them this whole time and had a pretty good collection going lol.
this one might be bit of a stretch but i always thought the descriptions on the trading cards you can collect are a nod to Ellie's journey. they'll all have snippets in them that are applicable to her story, e. g. "Tormenta creates a never ending cycle of suffering" or the twins card that talks about them having a great power bestowed upon them and being taken in by an overprotective father figure that ultimately drives them away by being too overbearing.

You actually encounter the girl with the PsVita earlier when playing as Abby during the camp sequence, in one of the tents you can talk to the girl playing with her psvita.
There's surely a big shoutout to Supernatural tv series: in the lake close to the hospital on day 3 (as Elly) there's an area on the left with some clickers and stalkers and a body of some dude with a silver gun. The note he has, addressed to "whatever sorry asshole that finds me" says that he, named Jensen, went out to save his friend Misha but got ambushed, so he's sorry he didn't make it. This is an obvious link to Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins who play Dean Winchester and Castiel in the show. Also, Dean caries a silver gun in the series.
Replaying the game and I noticed after a conversation between Ellie and Dina when they are in the supermarket and before they go the library, Dina brings up the topic of pets and says "Hey maybe after this we can get a little monster of our own" Ellie laughs and says yeah. But if yoy pain the camera around you see Dina looking at and holding her stomach.
You miss the one Easter egg when you play as Abbey when you're fighting your way down in the building to get to the hospital you go though a door with a hole though it and a number on the door is 402 wish is a nod to the shining
I'm going to give this game another play one day. I'm literally just a second playtrough away from a Platinum as i made it to 50% first go on this game. And as Amazing as this game was i seriously will not have any issues playing trough it again. Gonna wait just a tiny bit tho and see if i can carry my saves over from PS4 to PS5 and maybe play it improved with HDR this time around. And i think i'm going to give The Last of Us another replay again so i can experience the story in it's entierty begining to end in one go. As Neil Druckmann said, Part II is named so because it's the second part of the story and not just a follow up with the same characters. And i'd say that is very much true. No spoilers tho as i respect that some might not have beaten it yet. It's a fantastic game tho. Fore sure Game of the Year so far. And without a doubt PS4 going out with a bang again just like they did with The Last of Us on PS3.

My favorite is their reference to the podcast "Last Podcast on the Left." In Ellie Day 1, there is a bathroom in one of the buildings. In it, there is a drawing with the caption "Hail yourself! Hail me!" This is always how they end their podcasts. Super cool little detail that took me by surprise.

Watched it on Pewdiepies playthrough and on the card it detailed that after coming across an ancient artifact, a human received supernatural powers and he always screamed his catch phrase "DAS WORT". Sorry but I dont know the entire description of the card but the resemblance is too uncanny for it to not be Dio. (Theres more that points to him but I forgot)(and also my description itself is flimsy at best)

I'm playing as another character at the moment, so I cannot double check, but, if I'm recalling correctly, one of the character trading cards that Ellie collects is Savage Starlight. In addition, Joel is noted to have just started reading the comics in one of the flashbacks.
As it was a stuffed Giraffe. I put it down to a not to the Stuffed Giraffe the little girl was clinging onto as your looking for Robert in the 1st game. As they are identical.
At some point in the game you'll also find a note (don't recall where) whose author was a guy named "Avery", in memory of Henry Avery, the pirate we know from Uncharted 4. Not a huge easter egg, but it's really nice to see how the game takes care of these little references. :)
We can’t forget about in the late game as Abby in one of the houses a poster says “pushing up daisies in concert” and then one of the houses interior looks a lot like the point break house

Some DLC call backs - In the museum flashback with Joel, Ellie's first guess is 'Is it a dinosaur?' which is a call back when Riley is taking her to the mall where she asks the same question. And in Ellie's last conversation with Jesse before he gets shot, she says 'You're such a sap', which is also a call back to when she says the same thing to Riley before the merry-go-round scene.

There’s so many references and Easter eggs in this game it’s crazy. In one shop you can find Sully’s plane as a statue, I believe in Jackson possibly Ellie’s home you can find a white surfboard with flames on it and that’s Crash Bandicoots. And even in the first one there’s a cutscene where Ellie holds her left ring and pinky finger.. almost indicating what will happen in the next game, and her shirt with that sunset on it also appears on Drakes jet ski in one Uncharted. And Ellie decided to get a tattoo of a moth, animals that are attracted to the light, when in one of her last posts she wrote she lost the light. And scarily enough when you beat the game and the menu changes.. it looks like Abby and Lev found the Fireflies..
In the museum when Ellie was stuck in the animal side. You can see the moose getting attacked by wolves (Joel getting confronted by Abbie and her friends) then in the other displays you can see an animal that is lonely and crying (Ellie) 3 goats in another one (Tommy Jesse and Dina ) then when you continue down with reading the messages on the wall there is more wolves that scare Ellie (Mel and Owen) then past them you see a mama bear protecting her 2 Cubs (Abby lev and yara going onto the island the last time) then the big attacks you then you see the firefly symbol IT LITERALLY TELLS YOU THEY ARE FORMER FIREFLIES

Here’s one: the main menu screen post ending (major spoilers inc). That’s NOT the Rattler hideout (completely different roof). The Firefly on the radio told Abby they’re on Catalina Island in a giant domed building in Avalon. If you Google Image Avalon California, you’ll see Catalina Island (the same Catalina Wine Mixer rich resort island from Stepbrothers). The domed building with flags on it is a casino. The boat is docked on a beach, and if you check the maps it’s directly north of the domed building by the cliffs. In other words: this suggests Abby and Lev got a relatively ending (despite losing everyone they loved) and made it to the safety of the Fireflies that were 200+ in number. The domed building is completely different than the domed building the Rattlers were in (that Ellie reached on the mainland without a boat). The guy on the radio was NOT a Rattler.

My favorite easter egg was during the beginning of the game. Ellie is listening to a song with her headphones. The song she's listening to is called Through the Valley by Shawn James which was the song she did a cover of in the 2016 reveal trailer. I thought it was a cool call back.

If you buy Uncharted 3: Drakes deception Explorer Edition, you get a sic parvis magna ring replica and a drake action figure etc. If the uncharted games are puchasable in The Last of Us universe, then the replica rings from the Explorer Editions of Uncharted 3 would be in The Last of Us universe too. Makes sense to me.
Uncharted 2 or 3 has a news paper talking about a fungi infection that's affecting humans in the bar fight with Sully. Like there in the same world...
@@wendellswendell2001 yeah the third game but I think the outbreak was contained and didn't spread across the world. The Last of Us is like an alternate reality or something where the virus did spread but in Uncharted it doesn't, even in the future (because we see Nate's teenage daughter living normally and not running from clickers.)

There is 1 other easter egg i can think of in the last of us 2. In the begining where joel and ellie where walking towards to the museum and ellie was guessing what the suprise is gonna be the first thing she says was a dinosaur but in the left behind dlc when riley and ellie where going about riley had a suprise for her to and ellie said is it a dinosaur its a fun little easter egg that i saw
I think that’s moreso characterization. Ellie has been shown to actually be a really big nerd lol. Her asking about dinosaurs is just in her character, at least I think so.

Theres a reference in the second flash back I believe, when Joel, Tommy and Ellie are in the lodge, you can find a savage starlight comic but when you flip it over, the company that produces the comics is “Dark Horse comics” who published “the last of us, American dreams” prequel comic by Druckmann and Faith Erin Hicks
In that one segment when Manny was hanging with Abby at around close to the beginning of the second half. Manny did an anime reference when he said something about a girl and a wolf. I was like, That's Princess Mononoke!

Ellie’s cover of Take on me is one of the best scenes in the game, it’s absolutely nuts that it is completely optional. I loved it.

Reg. stuffed giraffe, there is one in the first game too, in the beginning, in the black market, there is a little girl who plays with a dirty, worn out copy of this stuffed giraffe and if Joel approaches her, she becomes protective of her toy. When Joel walks away, she resumes playing with it. A very moving moment if you ask me.
This game hits me with nostalgia, because it genuinely feels like the world stopped in 2013, just the small details. Kids of that generation will know what I mean. I love it honestly, walking around seeing the past again is surreal in a sense I always wanted time to stop when I was a kid. & for some weird reason LOU2 gives me that.
When I found the ring in the bank I honestly thought what if Drake was a bank robber, and that he and the whole gang were living in a other world paradox in LOU2 they're evil and break the law.

Oohh you didnt mention this but at the beginning Gustavo is playing the banjo with his healer dog. I only noticed cus im a bit of a fan of Gustavo's. I was like wtf is that... lol just in case your wondering, Gustavo wrote music for last of us 1 and 2. I thought it was pretty neat!

I’m Ellie’s room on her shelf with the ps3 if you look at the way top of the shelf you can see she has multiple long boxes of comics. Showing that she’s been collecting them this whole time and had a pretty good collection going lol.
this one might be bit of a stretch but i always thought the descriptions on the trading cards you can collect are a nod to Ellie's journey. they'll all have snippets in them that are applicable to her story, e. g. "Tormenta creates a never ending cycle of suffering" or the twins card that talks about them having a great power bestowed upon them and being taken in by an overprotective father figure that ultimately drives them away by being too overbearing.

Abby tells Lev to scootch when they find the hidden entry to the Santa Barbara outpost. Reference to Joel telling ellie to scootch whenever Joel tells ellie to move when he gets on the horse.
I was so sad that Ellie made absolutely NO comments about The Turning arcade game you can find with Angel Knives as a tribute to Riley 😭
You actually encounter the girl with the PsVita earlier when playing as Abby during the camp sequence, in one of the tents you can talk to the girl playing with her psvita.
There's surely a big shoutout to Supernatural tv series: in the lake close to the hospital on day 3 (as Elly) there's an area on the left with some clickers and stalkers and a body of some dude with a silver gun. The note he has, addressed to "whatever sorry asshole that finds me" says that he, named Jensen, went out to save his friend Misha but got ambushed, so he's sorry he didn't make it.
This is an obvious link to Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins who play Dean Winchester and Castiel in the show. Also, Dean caries a silver gun in the series.

I think it was the best game I've ever played. Loved the forst one, but this was so so deep.
I'm currently playing through the second game and I'm loving it. It's dark as hell but for the most part still a good game in my opinion.
Replaying the game and I noticed after a conversation between Ellie and Dina when they are in the supermarket and before they go the library, Dina brings up the topic of pets and says "Hey maybe after this we can get a little monster of our own" Ellie laughs and says yeah. But if yoy pain the camera around you see Dina looking at and holding her stomach.
You miss the one Easter egg when you play as Abbey when you're fighting your way down in the building to get to the hospital you go though a door with a hole though it and a number on the door is 402 wish is a nod to the shining
I'm going to give this game another play one day. I'm literally just a second playtrough away from a Platinum as i made it to 50% first go on this game. And as Amazing as this game was i seriously will not have any issues playing trough it again. Gonna wait just a tiny bit tho and see if i can carry my saves over from PS4 to PS5 and maybe play it improved with HDR this time around. And i think i'm going to give The Last of Us another replay again so i can experience the story in it's entierty begining to end in one go. As Neil Druckmann said, Part II is named so because it's the second part of the story and not just a follow up with the same characters. And i'd say that is very much true. No spoilers tho as i respect that some might not have beaten it yet. It's a fantastic game tho. Fore sure Game of the Year so far. And without a doubt PS4 going out with a bang again just like they did with The Last of Us on PS3.

My favorite is their reference to the podcast "Last Podcast on the Left." In Ellie Day 1, there is a bathroom in one of the buildings. In it, there is a drawing with the caption "Hail yourself! Hail me!" This is always how they end their podcasts. Super cool little detail that took me by surprise.

Watched it on Pewdiepies playthrough and on the card it detailed that after coming across an ancient artifact, a human received supernatural powers and he always screamed his catch phrase "DAS WORT". Sorry but I dont know the entire description of the card but the resemblance is too uncanny for it to not be Dio. (Theres more that points to him but I forgot)(and also my description itself is flimsy at best)

I'm playing as another character at the moment, so I cannot double check, but, if I'm recalling correctly, one of the character trading cards that Ellie collects is Savage Starlight. In addition, Joel is noted to have just started reading the comics in one of the flashbacks.
As it was a stuffed Giraffe. I put it down to a not to the Stuffed Giraffe the little girl was clinging onto as your looking for Robert in the 1st game. As they are identical.
At some point in the game you'll also find a note (don't recall where) whose author was a guy named "Avery", in memory of Henry Avery, the pirate we know from Uncharted 4.
Not a huge easter egg, but it's really nice to see how the game takes care of these little references. :)

Some DLC call backs - In the museum flashback with Joel, Ellie's first guess is 'Is it a dinosaur?' which is a call back when Riley is taking her to the mall where she asks the same question. And in Ellie's last conversation with Jesse before he gets shot, she says 'You're such a sap', which is also a call back to when she says the same thing to Riley before the merry-go-round scene.

There’s so many references and Easter eggs in this game it’s crazy. In one shop you can find Sully’s plane as a statue, I believe in Jackson possibly Ellie’s home you can find a white surfboard with flames on it and that’s Crash Bandicoots. And even in the first one there’s a cutscene where Ellie holds her left ring and pinky finger.. almost indicating what will happen in the next game, and her shirt with that sunset on it also appears on Drakes jet ski in one Uncharted. And Ellie decided to get a tattoo of a moth, animals that are attracted to the light, when in one of her last posts she wrote she lost the light. And scarily enough when you beat the game and the menu changes.. it looks like Abby and Lev found the Fireflies..

In the museum when Ellie was stuck in the animal side. You can see the moose getting attacked by wolves (Joel getting confronted by Abbie and her friends) then in the other displays you can see an animal that is lonely and crying (Ellie) 3 goats in another one (Tommy Jesse and Dina ) then when you continue down with reading the messages on the wall there is more wolves that scare Ellie (Mel and Owen) then past them you see a mama bear protecting her 2 Cubs (Abby lev and yara going onto the island the last time) then the big attacks you then you see the firefly symbol IT LITERALLY TELLS YOU THEY ARE FORMER FIREFLIES
