I complained and showed the the price tag on the shelf. I got the item for the tag price and also a gift card for a quid for my troubles.
Noticed Morrisons doing this more lately especially on stands at front of store with 2 price labels, prices are crazy all over the place - they also moved all their own kids cereal range to be mixed with all the other products and stopped selling honey hoops, value peanut butter is drier at least I get 10% off dairy occasionally or I wouldn't bother
I also noticed the had a massive price hike on a lot of products after they got bought out, which is why I stopped shopping there. They used to be competitive with Asda and Sainsbury's, now they are way more expensive than either.

Another great vid. Aldi do 400g BBQ pulled pork for about 3 pounds(ish). I do it in the oven wrapped in foil, about 40 minutes, serve in a tortilla wrap with some salad and crunchy lettuce. Really nice. Might try it in the (new) air fryer next time. Morrisons seems to have become more expensive since they were taken over.
What cooking method would you recommend for a raw pork rib rack bought today? Does it work well using foil? Note these ribs are fresh from Morrisons' butcher department and are not marinated or otherwise treated. But I'll be putting my own marinade on before roasting.
Here in Australia they have to give you the first one free if it scans higher than the shelf, then for any extra quantity they have to honour the price on the shelf.
Yes correct i'd think & thats even taking into account many years ago when this sort of idea was fairly commonplace in conversation. Because it aways was just goodwill, not the law.
I bought 2 packs of Garage/Shed shelving from B&Q quite a few years ago which had a higher price at the till than advertised at the location I picked them up from. I questioned this price and asked to see the store Manager, I showed the manager were I'd got the shelving from which was saying the lower price, I then got them at the lower price. Next time I went in they were at the normal price. Great vlogs Gareth.
I complained to Tesco about the Pukka Tea Bag boxes being 33% fresh air. And she said "contact Pukka Tea! " I said "if I get sick eating your meat would you tell me to contact your butchers, in Buenos Aires?"
For that price they should have removed the membrane. I did ribs recently and double lined the roasting tin. Added 1½ cups water and covered and put in oven for 2 hrs 15 mins. When I brought them out they were burnt to a cinder. I misread the instructions and they should have been done for 1 hr 15 mins! Our new rescue dog enjoyed em and we had jam on toast!!
Jolly hoggy sticks 😀😀😂😂 £8 what a rip off,we have got to take care when we go shopping, this is brilliant and you always brighten my day Gareth and keep up the great reviews, keep safe and well as always.
We had these the other week. They are so tasty. I always check prices in Morrisons. They are notorious for having different prices on shelves to till price.
Every time I buy a box of something, I think of you and your tab system, just used to rip them up anyhow, but now it’s become a bit of a challenge! Thanks gaz for a brilliant video, way too much for such a small amount of meat! Shan’t be trying those that’s for sure!
I've had the same thing happen on one of those display stands at the front, big yellow sign with a price but I found out it wasn't for what I thought it was so I was conned into buying something more expensive than I thought. They also practice other underhand methods to sell excess stock which involves putting stock deliberately in wrong locations, one was putting caramel ice lollies where the almond ones should be so I ended up buying the wrong ones as the packaging is the same, another one is putting strawberries where raspberries should be, I told the staff about it and they basically snubbed me and left the stock as it was.
Gareth, I think the Ribs looked great, ok a bit price rich, however some of your recent fish and chip take away's have been the wrong side of a tenner, the ribs were far better value in comparison--great presentation as ever--
Yep, these grasping billionaire owners all ALLOW it, because THEY CAN. Once bitten, twice shy. Now i understand why some folk walk round with those "price checker thingys". It used to puzzle me. Not any more.
We get very similar ribs in Denmark - have done for many years - best way to cook them is to cook them for 30 mins without the sauce - then put the sauce on - both sides and then cook for another 10 to 15 mins at a lower temp - works every time - give it a try
They do look better quality than some that you’ve tried but it was a bit dear. They always say that you get what you pay for and in this case I think they’re right.
Great video Mate, I’ve noticed Morrisons prices going up all the time!! My nearest supermarket is a short walk and it’s Morrisons so been keeping tabs. Looked nice ribs but £7.99 🥴 …. Smithy
Both Lidl and Aldi do some good ribs for about £4. Still, if you compare store bought ribs to a Chicken and Rib Shop price? they still work out cheaper. I personally think £7.99 is a bit pricy, even for what I consider to be an ‘ artisan ‘ rack of ribs. I’ve had ribs from both of the above named stores and they too had the meat falling off the bone. A good review Gareth. I suppose it’s all down to how much you are willing to pay.
This wouldn't work in a studio. They would be slapping make up on you, lighting your " beat side " and making sure you follow " impartiality rules " The warts And all 15 minute videos are BRILLIANT. And your a cracking host ( reviewer)
Farmfoods do a 1.5 kilo pack of raw pork ribs for £11, I let them defrost and then put them in the slow cooker for around 4 hours on high. Then you can cover them in whatever flavour you want and then in the air fryer or oven for about 15 minutes. Give it a go.
Ooh I love BBQ ribs, they are so nice with corn on the cob and home made chips. Sainsbury's do ribs with sweet bbq sauce for 5.50 Baldie, you should check those out to compare.
Wowsers, they look so yummy!! For me they seem to be well worth 8 quid, but I guess it all depends on how much you want to pay. My dad hated 'finger food' would never pick anything up to eat it but put a rack of ribs in front of him and he'd dive right in, he'd have loved those. I love your vids as I'm housebound and no longer get to actually look around supermarkets, my cleaner does my shopping for me so thanks, you give me lots of ideas on what to add to me list of goodies! :)
First class review Gareth. I really must try these. They look far too good too miss. You dont mind paying a highish price, when the food is this darned good 😊 Cheers Gareth, bonny lad.
I used to go to Morrison's all the time. Not any more. The last time I was there many of the items had no prices for them and even though it was quiet it took 20 mins queuing at the till. Hardly any staff due to the prevalence of self scan shopping.
Tesco-Melton Mowbray 400g pork pie, three pounds and fifty pence-box of 6 eggs one pound and 60p, used to sell eggs in a box of 15 for one pound and fifteen pence.
Loved the video bud 👍 We had Asda own brand BBQ ribs last night and they were the same, meat falling off the bone but tasted amazing so I ended up just pulling the meat off and eating it like pulled pork. Ours was £5.25 though. Will definitely have them again 👍
Man, you are the maestro. Love the sink bit. I'm going to borrow your yes no nod for my Williams Arizona review. Ribs look tender although a bit expensive. Great review, Thank you 😊
I tried some Morrisons Ribs and they were crap, just bought these Jolly Hogs ones a few days ago, still in the fridge so interesting to see how you get on with them. I did know they were £7.99 though.
I used to buy similar in ASDA, until I realised that the meat was soft and not enjoyable. Grossly overpriced at a shade under £8. If you must have ribs - buy fresh and slow-cook in oven OR prepare in Sous Vide prior to finishing in a hot oven. Generally - ribs are very poor value for money - Tenderloin is actually cheaper !
@@fookoff9220 Good point there though may be means wet because another problem with such products is buying 100 grams of water. 180 to 200 grams of bone plus the subtraction for what the sauces weighed in at. In the end the meat we buy these for is under 200 grams thats ludicrous as you say.
I very nearly got conned by Morrisons on “any 2” packs of beer for £10.50 from their promotional stand at the end of an aisle. Morretti was on the promotional stand but wasn’t included, and they nearly cost me £16 !!
Hey Gareth, the price is spot on for the amount and looked great. In Canada a favorite for the barbie but also good to cook in the oven (if so-peel the skin off the backside). Ribs are seasonally cheap or expensive here, right now off the scale - over $45 for 2kg. If the meat falls off the bone it's a good one.
I buy something similar to this here in Newfoundland, except it comes already covered in BBQ sauce. I buy the President's Choice brand one and I can get them on sale sometimes for 2 / $30 Cdn.
My dad gets some ribs from Lidl and they're about a fiver. Pretty good. I don't think the pricing is crazy at 8 quid but that's where we're heading. Expensive meat. Take care man - enjoy your day!
An example of the dodgy pricing practices that I have found in Morrisons and other places is to place goods on shelves and conveniently fail to display the correct price for the items. Then when questioned for the correct price they say oh sorry that price was for a different size of the same product or the price only available on a special offer. I’ve even seen a manager tell a staff member to clear the shelf of all the product that has been complained about but they don’t do it, instead they will remove the price tag from the shelf and not replace it for several hours if not days.
You can get a normal rack of ribs, use the pressure cooker, cook them and then finish them of in the air fryer to put the sauce on them and char them a bit..
Need to have your wits about you in Morrisons last week I bought three cases of Stella because the shelf said 3 for £23. Went through the self service and they scanned through at full price and the member of staff couldn't get the offer to work so I had to go to customer services to get my correct change. Does make you wonder if someone doing a larger shop might not notice. Ribs looked good but for £7.99 nope.
Gaz if they are showing as £3.00 they have to sell them at the price shown, thats the law, you should stood your ground and they would have to charge you £3.00.Plus if the chap knew the issue why didn't he report it and get them taken off that stand.
If the price is shown on display , then they have to legally charge that price. I had the same problem in Sainsburys with some socks on a display for £1 and they clocked up at £8.50. They called the manager who told them to change the display. But they charged me the display price.
They do pulled pork too and I have to say even through they are slightly more expensive they are better then Tesco own. Not as much fat on them in comparison.
Cracking video as always Gareth 👏🏻 it just so happens, we have a pack of those very same ribs in our fridge so can’t wait to try them 😀 maybe have them with chips and salad Mrs H loves your videos she says they are light relief from all the gloom and doom that’s going on so keep up the good work M8 👍
Wow they see you coming Gaz, was it just priced wrong or was the £3 for something else? .most places these are about a £5 at the moment. They are nice I like ribs but that was a bit on the expensive side.🙄 Good work Gareth thanks.👍😋
Great review Gaz as always the misses would like them but not the price 🤣 that’s easily done mate I nearly been done before but keep up the great work as always 👏👏👍👍
I did 'Oragel' In Sainsbury's. £3.50 on shelf. £4 on the scanner. It does happen. Still cheaper than £9.75 in Boots. I bought 2. Just incase (Oragel is a toothache relief gel, amazeballs)
Love your channel Gareth. But you're driving me up the wall looking for the "tab system" on the sauce sachets. I spent 10 years working for a company that makes sauces in sachets, and it's called a "tear nick". It's a nick in the sachet that you tear.
All supermarkets do their own ribs like this, usually £4/5 ish a pack. Asda and Morrisons own brand ones are excellent, not as keen on Tescos ones though.
Once upon a time they were a product that nobody would touch with a barge pole, those people who did want them got them cheap ( a carrier bag full for a shilling (5p) boiled with bacon and cabbage,Beautiful. The stock made wonderful gravy 🤫
Today Tuesday I bought a pork rib rack (407g) from Morrisons for £3.07 on special offer. This has not been marinaded or anything. It's just raw pork ribs. I will marinade it before roasting.

I questioned this price and asked to see the store Manager, I showed the manager were I'd got the shelving from which was saying the lower price, I then got them at the lower price. Next time I went in they were at the normal price.
Great vlogs Gareth.
Cheers pal
I complained to Tesco about the Pukka Tea Bag boxes being 33% fresh air. And she said "contact Pukka Tea! "
I said "if I get sick eating your meat would you tell me to contact your butchers, in Buenos Aires?"
£8 for so little! It did look good though... and the sauce sounded amazing. You make me so darn hungry Gaz!
Lol
Jolly hoggy sticks 😀😀😂😂 £8 what a rip off,we have got to take care when we go shopping, this is brilliant and you always brighten my day Gareth and keep up the great reviews, keep safe and well as always.
Thank you 🤗
We had these the other week.
I always pour the sauce over them before cooking them, makes them more moist 😊 they do look good
Hope you're well
I've had the same thing happen on one of those display stands at the front, big yellow sign with a price but I found out it wasn't for what I thought it was so I was conned into buying something more expensive than I thought.
We pay double here US for baby back ribs that size. Cheapest I’ve seen here was $12.00 on sale, usually Lloyd’s precooked ribs like that are 15.00
We get very similar ribs in Denmark - have done for many years - best way to cook them is to cook them for 30 mins without the sauce - then put the sauce on - both sides and then cook for another 10 to 15 mins at a lower temp - works every time - give it a try
Cheers Jack
BFG helps so many people with his reviews and i appriecate it to the fullist, next week i will treat myself to those ribs........Thanks and take care
I was reading this comment thinking? BFG? Big Friendly Giant? Haha - took a few seconds to work out
😂 love the bfg tag 😂😂😂
They would have broken the sound barrier going back if it had been me
Love your honesty Gareth. Your words have true value dear fellow.
Smithy
Yep, all the supermarkets are at this game. I got stung at LIDL just like that, buyer beware.
Cheers Gerry yes I've reviewed them. Think I did a comparison. Might be in pork or comparison playlist. Hope you're well pal.
This wouldn't work in a studio. They would be slapping make up on you, lighting your " beat side " and making sure you follow " impartiality rules "
The warts And all 15 minute videos are BRILLIANT. And your a cracking host ( reviewer)
Cheers
You learn something new everyday. Glad you enjoyed them xx thank you for the video xx
Cheers Nicola, and Cheers for the super chat xx
Farmfoods do a 1.5 kilo pack of raw pork ribs for £11, I let them defrost and then put them in the slow cooker for around 4 hours on high. Then you can cover them in whatever flavour you want and then in the air fryer or oven for about 15 minutes. Give it a go.
Spot ON Thankyou for Bringing This To Everyone Attention
Cheers June
The old gags are the best gags 😂😂 love it !
Thank you Gaz, they looked well lush🤤😋 👍🏆 I was waiting on you throwing the bones over your shoulder when you were done,😂❤
I'll give these a miss at that price! But they do look good. Thanks for another honest review 💜💜💜
Cheers Barbie all the best
First class review Gareth.
I really must try these. They look far too good too miss.
You dont mind paying a highish price, when the food is this darned good 😊
Cheers Gareth, bonny lad.
Cheers Keith
@@BaldFoodieGuy . . The pleasure is mine dear friend 👍
Not cheap, but they look fabulous. I could eat the whole thing myself 😋😋😋
You pay for what you get most of the time 😅
May as well get them from chinese takeaway at around 9 quid why bother using fuel cooking them and washing up pan
At 700 calories you'd be silly not to.
I used to go to Morrison's all the time. Not any more. The last time I was there many of the items had no prices for them and even though it was quiet it took 20 mins queuing at the till. Hardly any staff due to the prevalence of self scan shopping.
Jolly Hog???..nothing jolly about the price. Bit of A rib Tickler though Gareth. LOL
No mate lol
Tesco-Melton Mowbray 400g pork pie, three pounds and fifty pence-box of 6 eggs one pound and 60p, used to sell eggs in a box of 15 for one pound and fifteen pence.
The Mr's calls his messy t-,shirt *menu shirt", so he can remember what he ate yesterday 😂. Have a cracking weekend 😂
Haha you too
Loved the video bud 👍 We had Asda own brand BBQ ribs last night and they were the same, meat falling off the bone but tasted amazing so I ended up just pulling the meat off and eating it like pulled pork. Ours was £5.25 though. Will definitely have them again 👍
Sounds great!
9.53 " there's one there on the bone" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Too expensive Gareth. Loved the bonus feature...you will have to do a bloopers video? 😁
Good idea!!
Man, you are the maestro. Love the sink bit. I'm going to borrow your yes no nod for my Williams Arizona review. Ribs look tender although a bit expensive. Great review, Thank you 😊
thought you were going to say they were vegan 😂
Haha noooooo
At that price it's enough to make anyone vegan.
Bought these myself...microwaved in the plastic wrapper ....perfect !!
Iv got to say the Aldi ribs are fantastic four quid odd the meat falls off the bone and the sauce is sublime 👍😘
I tried some Morrisons Ribs and they were crap, just bought these Jolly Hogs ones a few days ago, still in the fridge so interesting to see how you get on with them. I did know they were £7.99 though.
As with everything read the small print it is on the sign over the cabinet.
You don't like meat when it's soft? But yeah ludicrous prices.
@@fookoff9220 Good point there though may be means wet because another problem with such products is buying 100 grams of water. 180 to 200 grams of bone plus the subtraction for what the sauces weighed in at. In the end the meat we buy these for is under 200 grams thats ludicrous as you say.
True quality meat is cheaper than this former throw away cut! This post truth age wants everyone to only care about fetish and to hate fact.
I very nearly got conned by Morrisons on “any 2” packs of beer for £10.50 from their promotional stand at the end of an aisle. Morretti was on the promotional stand but wasn’t included, and they nearly cost me £16 !!
Ha same here only it was Stella unfiltered on the stand but not included, very clever like that at Morrison
I bought one once a while ago, they cost £04.50 pence. I only. Bought them one time!!!
Buy mine from Asda 600g for £5.25. I keep a bit of sauce back to pour over when finished bloody outstanding. 😋
Cheers pal
I'm confused, the labelling all says it's British, but on the back of the pack the address for The Jolly Hog company is in Germany ???
Another great review fella.
I buy something similar to this here in Newfoundland, except it comes already covered in BBQ sauce. I buy the President's Choice brand one and I can get them on sale sometimes for 2 / $30 Cdn.
Could you please tell me what kind of little oven you have please? Does it have a timer on it?
Is a Sage Airfryer multi cooker. Yes it's got a timer.
My dad gets some ribs from Lidl and they're about a fiver. Pretty good. I don't think the pricing is crazy at 8 quid but that's where we're heading. Expensive meat.
Take care man - enjoy your day!
Cheers
@@BaldFoodieGuy You too dude
An example of the dodgy pricing practices that I have found in Morrisons and other places is to place goods on shelves and conveniently fail to display the correct price for the items. Then when questioned for the correct price they say oh sorry that price was for a different size of the same product or the price only available on a special offer. I’ve even seen a manager tell a staff member to clear the shelf of all the product that has been complained about but they don’t do it, instead they will remove the price tag from the shelf and not replace it for several hours if not days.
Yeah mate - it's called accidentallyonpurpose, all one word to confuse 😊 found this practice in a couple of the big names.
Thanks Gareth - good review. I think I might go to my local butchers and support my local traders.
You can get a normal rack of ribs, use the pressure cooker, cook them and then finish them of in the air fryer to put the sauce on them and char them a bit..
To be fair Gareth the bloke did offer to take them back but you got them anyway glad ya did I’m dribbling watching ya.
Somehow I missed this one. Enjoyed the addition of the sink bit Gareth.
Haha cheers
I was expecting you to do Arnie's " Get Down" when you said about Ribs Down . Tesco used to do Jolly Hog sausages
Haha sorry Carol
Gareth
Morrison's are cheeky baskets. Happened to us more than once or twice🤔Looked great though when cooked, fab review as always👌
Yes they are!
Gareth I never see you eat vegies mate! Any way's hope your doing well.
They do pulled pork too and I have to say even through they are slightly more expensive they are better then Tesco own. Not as much fat on them in comparison.
Cracking video as always Gareth 👏🏻 it just so happens, we have a pack of those very same ribs in our fridge so can’t wait to try them 😀 maybe have them with chips and salad
Mrs H loves your videos she says they are light relief from all the gloom and doom that’s going on so keep up the good work M8 👍
Thanks 👍
I am having some Jolly Hog pulled pork with BBQ sauce delivered on Wednesday...I hope it's as good as their sausages and black treacle ham.
Enjoy
Nice one mate, I must say that I was mightily impressed by your membrane consumption, you're a braver man than me 👏
Like deployed 👍
Cheers pal
Wow they see you coming Gaz, was it just priced wrong or was the £3 for something else? .most places these are about a £5 at the moment. They are nice I like ribs but that was a bit on the expensive side.🙄
Good work Gareth thanks.👍😋
Try pressure cooking ribs put your own sauce on them when cooked. I like to chew the soft bones too.
Great review Gaz as always the misses would like them but not the price 🤣 that’s easily done mate I nearly been done before but keep up the great work as always 👏👏👍👍
Cheers Peter
I did 'Oragel' In Sainsbury's. £3.50 on shelf. £4 on the scanner. It does happen. Still cheaper than £9.75 in Boots. I bought 2. Just incase (Oragel is a toothache relief gel, amazeballs)
Sadly when buying from these supermarkets you also pay for the food thats thrown away thats why high price...great vid
Meal for one.
Add chips and salad and fill up.
About the same price as takeaway but I reckon, much better. 🙏🇦🇺
That’s daylight robbery wow no way i would of bought them at that price good honest food review
Always still watch but dont comment as much. Your channel is doing fabulous so well done❤
Thank you so much 😊
I would have argued that they were shown as £3 so legally they have to be sold at that price. Usually works for me.
Good buy
