    Dorne in the books: vast, rich and populous
    Dorne in the show: a small shack of a palace with 5 citizens total.

      LF 3400 exactly. Doran specifically tells Arienne that they the Targaryens wanted to exaggerate the populoation since they Dornish/Rhoynar never knelt, and Dorne kept it going to protect themselves. Dorne is a vast wasteland specked with a few small sanctuaries.

      @@LF-hj8kk they’re absolutely rich. Not populous but rich. They have textiles industry, are close to the Summer Sea and Essos ( trade routes would flow into Dorne and then to the rest in some cases because of this realistically ). Also they have a monopoly on the citrus trade - a fair priced delicacy in this setting for sure.

    Dorne is my favourite out of all the 7 kingdoms. The Martells never bent under Aegon. Unlike the Westerland who has their coin, the Storm, North and the Reach with their strength and martial prowess. Dorne survived through their cunning, wit and deception.
    On top of that, Dorne houses Dawn and the Sword of the Morning. Dorne is truly an amazing state.

    • @Captain_Insano_nomercy
      @Captain_Insano_nomercy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      Yeah I sorta lost my love for Dorne after reading fire and blood. Their stubborn pride left their home a wasteland and their people massacred. It's the exact opposite or Torrhen Stark the king who knelt, who submitted to save his people from fiery death in a hopeless war. George presented the Dornish wars as completely pointless on purpose, to show the futility of fighting over titles and honor. The Stark king swallowed his pride to save his people and the Dornish sacrificed the people they served for their vanity

    • @Captain_Insano_nomercy
      @Captain_Insano_nomercy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      In fire and blood it's also stated that the Dornish strategy was seen as cowardly by the rest of Westeros. They lost all honor just so they could remain kings (princes). I don't think they are necessarily heroic

      @@Captain_Insano_nomercy
      I agree that George is making that point but I also think the Dornish didn't kneel in honor of their past. Letting go of Mother Rhoyne to kneel to the people who were responsible for her great downfall. Yeah... I'd kind of have a problem kneeling too. If I come from a culture that was the peaceful bomb & you come from a culture that was slavey trash, I'd do whatever I needed to do so that mine prevailed (even though Dorne kinda turned trash-ish & Targaryen rule became somewhat peaceful). But I'm a straight up Targaryen hater so my opinion's definitely biased lol.
      Idk man, me still loves the Dorny dogs 💕

    Great video.
    Love Dorne.
    House Dayne is easily my favourite. Like the theory that they may be descended from a proto-Valyrian race that were one of many from The Great Empire of the Dawn.
    Their house as reputed by Darkstar goes back ‘ten thousand years, unto the Dawn of Day(ne)s.’
    They live in a land called ‘Dorne’.
    The greatest knights wield a magical sword called ‘Dawn’.
    They are the Children of the Dawn.
    Would love to learn more about the other houses like Blackmont, Yronwood and Wyl.
    They seem to have fearsome and bloody reputations.
    Edit: I also fully embrace Darkstar in all his edgy glory.

      The Arianne story line is kinda interesting in the books, but it’s still one of the weaker plot lines. It has cool moments like the failed attempt of putting Myrcella on the throne and Arys Oakheart’s last stand, but at times it’s unbearably slow with generally uninteresting characters.
      Everyone acts like it was only the show that fucked up the sand snakes, but in reality they were never likable characters to begin with in the books.

    I’m pretty sure Dorn is going to help fight randomly in the finale. They have been gone for a while but will likely seek revenge in the Lanisters

    How come house Manwoody didn’t make it into the video? I feel as though you may have confused them with another house, as the Manwoody’s were the ones who protected the princes pass. I saw that you put them on the map, but you didn’t talk about them. I know they aren’t known very well, but they do have a bit of history.

    I like Dorne because it's a desert like my homestate, Chihuahua (yeah, like the dog) which is next to New Mexico, where George R. R. Martin resides and wrote the because, if you've watched Breaking Bad or are familiar with american geography, you know New Mexico is also a desert like Dorne.

  • @kashk42

    The Dornish Marches not being in Dorne isn't weird at all, an March in a feudal society is an area responsible for border protection, for example Mercia got it's name for the saxon word for March since it was the area bordering Wales, and in early France there were an area called the Breton March, which bordered Brittany. The Marcher Lords (a Marquis in RL european history) are charged with defence of that border. So the Marcher lords of the stormlands and the reach defend their respective kingdoms from the Dornishmen, hence the name.

    What if Jon is Ned and Ashara's son.Maybe she was at the tourney at Harrenhall,she and Ned did the thing(she was his first love before Cat) and she got pregnant.Then she gave birth to Jon.When Ned brought Dawn to Starfall and she threw herself in the sea,he decided to take Jon to Winterfell.Thats my theory since Jon has no Targaryen traits like pale skin and white/blonde hair,purple eyes.
