At 1:20 it was stated that Singapore came into existence in 1819, and that its old name was Singapura. Its modern name then became Singapore. This is not true.
The original name for Singapore was Temasek. The name Singapura was given by its founder, Sang Nila Utama, in the 13th century. Also, a significant trading settlement had already existed on the island in the 14th century. The last ruler of the Kingdom of Singapura was Parameswara.
Singapore is not its modern name. It is an Anglicised name given by the British when Stamford Raffles came here in 1819 to establish a Crown colony.
The name Singapura is still used today, both spoken and written, in Singapore's national language, Malay.

Singapore played a small role in the development of Southeast Asian history until Sir Stamford Raffles established a British port there. Under the British colonial rule, Singapore has become a very strategic port since it is located in the middle of the trade route between India and China which eventually became one of the most important ports in the world to this day. During World War II, Singapore was captured by the Japanese army from 1942 to 1945. Among the heroes who died defending Singapore in this war was lieutenant Adnan bin Saidi.
After the end of the war, the local population was allowed to exercise self-government but still did not achieve independence. Then in 1963, Singapore joined Malaya together with Sabah and Sarawak to form Malaysia. But Singapore subsequently left Malaysia to become a republic on August 9, 1965.

Hi. I am a Singaporean muslim. Many of our fast food restaurants like McDonalds, KFC, Burger King etc are halal. There will be a Halal Certificate issued to these fast food restaurant and they must display the certificate usually behind the cashier. Also we have many restaurants serving halal Malay, Indonesian, South Indian, North Indian, Middle Eastern food. Since you are from Bangladesh you can visit Little India where there are many Bangladeshi restaurants. You will never miss Bangladeshi food here in Singapore.

The light show is free but the ocbc walkway you have to pay. The light show imo is very poor and not worth it. Besides there is no seating and thousands of people fight for floor space. Better to go to the free fountain show in front of the hotel which starts 15m later.
