Hello Sir! I just recently discovered your channel and find it facinating! Especially your videos about DMM's, voltage references and related topics. Main reason is probably that I work at a local calibrator manufacturer, although HW design is not my function there. However, I notice that, based on the words you use related to thermoelectric voltages, that you may have a wrong understanding of that topic. The widespread explanation for thermovoltages is that they are generated at the junction between two different metals, when there is a temperature difference. This is actually wrong. It is only the temperature difference (or rather the temperature gradient) that generates the voltage, and it can do it along a single material metal wire, for example. The junction(s) only play a secondary role in the system. You may want to read up on this. I apologize if this was already clear to you, and I misinterpreted you. And again, you make extremely interesting videos!
I think those are fiber optic cables (possibly with toslink housings, or at least something similar) connecting the in-guard analog section to the digital out-guard section.
OMG you're actually getting one of the HPM7177s from CERN! I've got a couple of AD7177-2's saved for a project myself and super excited to see the test results of those from you to see what they're capable of with proper implementation!
Can’t wait to see you trick out something really wonderful. Whatever it is, I know it will be good! Just know how respected and admired you are by your viewers. You have them entranced. That’s a good thing. Stay safe mates!😊👍🏻😷

Marco if you heat the fluke 5700's VFD filaments to a dull orange with constant current for a few seconds you might be able to rejuvanate the brightness
Hey Marco, could you please explain how you get all your measurement data into grafana? What database are you using? Do you think the setup is complex enough for an entire video? Thank you :)
Oh, the good old Elektronica in Munich... In 1996 i got my first blue LED there. But 2018 was probably my last one, since now around 2000 km is quite a distance, compared to previously driving just 2.5 h. And now i come from a Risikogebiet... Do not open windows :-p
For any hobbyist that wants one of these, you should be keeping an eye on Yahoo Auctions Japan. Perhaps every year or so you can find one there for ~USD350ish, and at around that price it's a steal. Normally they're closer to the ~USD1000 mark and I think that's a bit tooooo much unless you're a bit volt-nuts. (better to use that money towards the 3458A fund)
Yeah... JLC PCB - they were good 2 years ago. Now it's only quantity over quality. They just screwed up one of my projects. They just ignored gerber file with markings for V-CUTs, and supplied panels without them. Now I have 5 panels without ability to snap boards out of them :) Support is non-existent - they say basically that they give zero f*** about this problem :) Colleague from work got bitten also maybe week earlier - they made boards without non-plated holes, probably because there were two separate NC files for plated and non-plated. And they just ignored one of them :D
Well I mean you have to see the price. Somehow they have to manage it. But ignoring v-groves is bad. Cutting the fiberglas is nasty. But the second version when you upload two different files is not the problem form JLC. I mean you can not expect that they will check every upload that closely. It is a cheap service. For me it is mostly fine. Sometimes they sadly ignore the placed holes for the SMT process and add more right next to the ones I placed but other than that it worked fine.
There is a specifications sheet available from Mickle from the EEVBlog. It is written in Japanese and may provide a guideline. I am surprised about the sensationalism of this video.
love your channel just wondering how sensitive are these meters to temp change would it be worth it to regulate the temp and humidity in the room you use them or does the heat they produce them selves cause the drift?
Most of the parts and references in nicer machines are built into little hermetically sealed cases or enclosures on the PCB board inside and have built in heaters to keep them at a stable temperature. Most any high-end test equipment (anything over $200-$300) Will start to implement what is called “ovenized“ parts. So they have built-in heaters to keep them at a constant stable temperature and they’re built into some small hermetically sealed can or plastic insulated package. So pretty much as long as the machines are warmed up… They maintain their metrology grade calibration and statistics. Real nerds like Marco leave their precision equipment powered on 24/7 365 days a year. Because that allows them to maintain the highest level of accuracy. that level of precision is absolutely not needed unless you just enjoy the extra .01% of precision… Or are some big lab like NASA. That’s how all of the big labs like NASA and places do it. The gear is designed so that once it’s plugged in and turned on… It’s never turned off until they retire that piece of equipment a decade later.
The Prema 6048 would be a good one to look at...if you can find one. I think they were only made for a few years before Prema went bankrupt and left the test equipment industry for good...
I mean I love high precision test gear just as the next guy, but what the hell do you do with so many of them? I mean really I would not even know where I would use an 8.5 digit multi-meter. Heck even a 6.5digit one is overkill for me. What are your plans with those devices? Just collect them?

Would have been nice, if you would have summarized numerically some specifications you have determined, like INL, T. C., noise, 24h stability, and whatever you could extract from your measurements. I assume, you were sarcastic about the bad INL, as this is in fact one of the most important parameters. 8.5 digits are useless, if INL is 1ppm only.
Noted, will try to do that in the future! So far I don't have a whole lot of confidence in my setup here, no climate control, 5700A out of cal etc. so I wouldn't dare passing judgement on products

When I google the UNI-T model number i cannot find anything about it. So I am speculating it is not released yet either.
