I love both, lada and Duster, but here I think that Duster had a certain advantage due to the much better tires.
Think.lada driver Doesent know to drive it
He doesn't know his car has 4L gear in the transfer box... there is no reason to revv too high the engine, just engage 4L and leave the car to do the job.
They both have no clue about off-roading, give them a car with a lot more horsepower and they would kill themselves the way they drive. Going off-road with street tires is not very smart either

You can never test and compare off road vehicles if they have not the same tires. See that all the time.

I took Dacia 2016, it has a slow first gear, which allows it to overcome a stronger climb. It doesn't have a reduction gear, it doesn't have a classic differential lock, that's done by electronics that don't always listen to the driver. I got stuck a couple of times in the snow on the automatic 4x4 option
Suzuki and Lada are better offroad.

На ниве штатные всесезонные шины Кама, на них зацепа вообще нет. Но даже на них ехала не плохо.

What happened with Torsen diff project. Are You planning to put one on the Duster?
Currently it’s on hold. I will install one but only if they send it for free😅. The torsen was installed on the other duster, the facelift one, that belongs to a friend of mine.

@@newaustrianpyro5759 , moin, habe meinen Duster nur im leichten Gelände getestet. Kam noch nicht dazu, mehr zu probieren. Genau deshalb schaue ich mir diese Videos an. Muss auch erst noch den Duster optimieren. Grüße aus der Niederlausitz. 🤘

Central diff lock is very important on this terrain. Niva is the best!

waiting for more parallel shows....in all sincerity, I feel that Niva is handicapped here (high psi + not best suited tires)...OR Duster driver has advanced so significantly that it outperforms Lada !? In any way, Duster l(+ driver) looks very confident and reliable vehicle here...👍 (btw, which tire brand/model are those 215/60 R17 ?)
Indeed, the tires on the Lada are not as good as the ones on the duster. We will change after the holidays. On my duster I have the Riken suv snow. The ones I bought last year. Cheers!!

It's not hard off road. Wach Niva vs Duster in Russian side of TH-cam. There is true challenges in mud, swamps and realy deep snow. Obviousliy it's a two different car class. True jeep and only 4x4.
@Livin Vids Improvement? You mean less space, more plastic & electronic? Improvement like the AR15 vs. the AK, which means that the AR is not working at -40°. A perfect working system needs no update. Reduced to the bone, thats an Niva. Luxury is not needed offroad. After a dozen tours through North Europe, the Carpathians and Siberia i dont want an duster, never ever. On these tours more Dusters than Nivas have failed. And when the Nivas failed, the parts are much easier to get and its much easier to find people who can fix them. Except Northern Europe, there it is very hard to find parts & service for both. Its also easier to fix an Niva on track, because there is less "improvement". 😉

Niva este mai ușoară, mai înaltă fata de Duster și distanta dintre rotile din fata cu cele din spate este mai scurta, cu aceste atuuri este mai buna pe teren
anyway, NIVA veche facuta pe timpul URSS cat de putin, era mai calitativa de cat astea cu motor 1.7, alea erau cu 1.6 si lucrau mai bine. Evident, ca DUSTER este mai presus, cred o NIVA nu isi mai doreste nmeni, e prea scumpa + nimic comfort

Niva has bad tires on wheels, it looks like summer tires. Put the most ordinary winter tires of any brand in the field and it will go much better than duster and other SUVs.

i did, and its absolutely blast to ride; good ol soviet style offroader which doesnt gives a shit about creature comfort. just like soviet union. real gem :D . great off the road too, as long as you have proper tires.

With the Dacia Duster, if you go around town, you always make a good impression. Two completely different cars with different purposes. The Niva was created for the villages of the USSR era, where roads were rare or if they existed were in very poor condition. The Niva can be compared to the Samurai, but not the Duster.
its SUV allright. the problem is that tires were unsuitable for terrain on niva. both cars should have identical tires and driven by same driver on same course.

das ist doch kein Vergleich von ebenbürtigen Fahrzeugen, der Niva ist sehr viel älter, dann sollte man gleiche Bedingungen haben und übrigens fährt man nicht mit normalen, Wintereifen ins Gelände !!!! So was ähnliches haben wir mal mit unseren P3 gegen die UAZ mit er Sowjetarmee gemacht, wir hatten die besseren Reifen für das Gelände, obwohl unsere Technik 30 Jahre älter und von der Motorisierung schwächer war !!!!
