It’s really weird they don’t in the US. Like why? We’re the same country that bans peanuts from cafeterias if a single student is allergic. It doesn’t make sense.

@@kylacineger8771 I’m sure it is like that here in the US, but unfortunately the area I’m in, they don’t enforce it as much as they should. Rarely see the allergen list actually present in the cafeteria for students to read. Unless only the cafeteria staff can see it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a list like that in the cafeteria of any of the schools I’ve attended. I’m sure the parents let the school know before their child enters school though

There are some school systems which seem to do it right, but I think they are pretty few and far between. A couple years ago I found a bunch of videos on youtube from these places that were making an effort to serve good meals. If I remember right, they said it wasn't all that much more expensive. Although, imagine if there was a federal program put into that place that truly addressed this issue. You know there would be weird parents up in arms over their children being served fruit and healthy meals. We saw that when Obama was president and the first lady had that whole school lunch thing. Which despite apparently being flawed, at least made an effort.

I went to a Hawaiin state public elementary school on an Army base in the 1970s. Our food was similar to this but much more americanized. We were usually served sticky rice, and pork cutlets, or chicken strips, etc. Just no kimchi or hot spicy chili sauces.
And we all had to spend one lunch period a year serving food and then cleaning up afterward. I had fun at the window where we dropped our trays because I got to use the big dish sprayer and push the trays into the dishwashing machine.

For the people who are confused. There are several different types of rice, dozens of different types of soup, hundreds of diffent types of kimchi, and thousands of diiferent types of side dishes and desserts in Korea. With your kind of eyes, Koreans could say Westerners only eat bread (bread with patty, with sausage, with butter...), potato (fried, baked, chips), and meats. lol.

@Ellie Reg Honestly I was thinking about how OP it is to have schools serve such a variety of soups, and veggie dishes. My school food was basically some sort of crappy bakery goods, like youd get a bread roll and yogurt and be sent on your way. Being that my mom and dad werent that creative with food, I wouldnt know where to start if I tried eating soup everyday (we did at home but it was a basic clear soup with artificial flavouring, basic noodles and maybe some carrots). Having the chance to try all these at school wouldve been so good for my diet and cooking now, and I cant imagine i would be the only one.

I used to go to a rural U.S school that had a private lunch program (though it was a public school) so a lot of the meals looked very similar to these. Well balanced, healthy and handmade. We'd even have "meatless mondays" every week and on other days we'd have lunches like roasted greek chicken with rosemary potatoes, yakisoba noodles with stir fry and a lot of other great choices. However when I switched to a bigger school junior year, they, like most public American schools used the government provided lunch program. which, as most american public school students know, is not good. Its processed, frozen, and just not healthy or diverse at all. I wish all schools in America had the privilege of having lunches like Korean students or like the ones I would have at my previous school without having to put extra money into doing so.

Among the food culture of Korea, special things that distinguish it from the food culture of other countries. //
    1. Perfect vegan food represented by Korean Buddhist temple food
    2. An endless variety of soup dishes
    3. Kimchi: Vegetables fermented with animal protein represented by cabbage kimchi. In the past, only Koreans made and ate it. There are over 800 types of kimchi.
    4. Jeotgal: A fermented animal-based sauce made from seafood. In Korea, there are more than 140 different types of salted fish.
    5. Ssam: It means wrapping all the ingredients you want to eat in various leafy vegetables represented by lettuce. However, unlike burritos, you have to swallow them in one bite, so you need to adjust the amount of ingredients to be wrapped appropriately.
    6. Herbal Medicine Ingredients : Herbal medicine ingredients are not only eaten for special diseases or health, but are also often used for general home cooking. For example, as ingredients for Samgye-tang, Mulberry, Tree Aralia, Eleutherococcus Sessiliflorus, Mongolian Milkvetch, Korean Angelica, Ginger, Jujube and Korean Ginseng are used.
    7. Namul : South Korea is the country that eats the most dishes made with only vegetables without meat and seafood protein. Namul are foods made with one edible plant as the main ingredient. Examples of the types of Namul include Shepherd's Purse, Stringy Stonecrop, Korean Angelica-tree, Korean Wild Chive, Butterbur, Bracken, Doellingeria Scabra, Bamboo Shoot, Chamnamul and Cirsium Setidens.
// Etc... Korea shows a distinctly different food culture from neighboring countries in Far East Asia (China, Mongolia, Vietnam, Japan).

Your mom didn't make seolleongtang, sujebi, ssamgaetang, udon, or doenjangjiggae? My mom made seollangtang and bibimbap like every week cause my sister likes it. I don't. I like bibimguksu and soondubu but my mom makes jajjang instead for my kids. 😢 she only likes the babies

Wow I’m amazed at how healthy and good your food looks! Here in FL, USA I remember returning 5 chicken sandwiches in one day because they all were green moldy so I just didn’t eat that day and sadly most days were like that, I usually had one meal a day which was dinner because I was at school from 6:30am-8pm between classes and sports..the food here is a disgrace compared to yours

I remember watching your first two videos and I immediately came back whenever you posted a new video. Your channel is growing so fast and you're becoming better and better love your stuff!💓💫

imagine if you could get travelling school lady country swap - they'd bring their own school dinner plates and cook in your school kitchen so you'd get a week of another country's food!
And thus this would diversify everyone's taste buds and experience...
I think I gotta make this happen

The food looks delicious, back in high school I was located a short walk away from my mom's house so I went home for lunch. Meanwhile in primary school it was across the street from my grandparents house, so I got breakfast and lunch. Yes I was permitted to do both because of agreements before hand, it was nice having warm home cooked food every day alongside saving my pocket money plus not paying for public transportation. 😂
