Love new reviews of older clubs ! I could watch this sort of video all day!!! Would also love to see a brand-history type review... Of new vs old .. classic models etc
Rick, absolutely agree - have played the 716CB almost since they came out, and have tungsten in the toe of each club with basically the same dimensions as the 620CB. They’ve been spectacular and have no desire to switch them out. Can drop a 4 iron right at 200-205, or chase one a little - and fly a short iron into any little corner if I dare.
I’ve had a set of these from P-7 since 2019 with the original T100’s in my long irons. They’re without a doubt my favorite irons I’ve ever owned, and when the new ones release eventually, I’ll update my irons with them, maybe going 6-P in them :) Forgot to mention, I strengthened them by 1° to get a better gapping in my set.
I'm playing a full set of 620MB at the moment, but before that I had a set of 618CB bent to 2° strong to help with the gapping, like you. However I actually found that I'd get the odd low spin flier as a result, and I've stopped seeing those since I switched to the MBs at their natural lofts
I believe in the gradual loading of tech through the bag. Wedges, MB PW and 9, CB 8 to 6, Bit of tech in 5-4, techy/driving/utility 3 and 2. I have 61, 57, 50 vokey wedges. 9-7 MB. 6-5 CB 620 4 T100 3 T200 2 T200 utility build.
That’s a pretty cool setup. I play t100s g-6 t200 5/4. Handicap wise at 14 I should be playing more GI stuff. My average miss still pretty good. Just have some bad days where no iron will save me
T-150 7-P, 6, 5 in a U505 build. 7W or 4 hybrid. 5W adjusted a bit on loft TSR, 16.5(4W) TSR, TSR3 at 10.75*. 50,54,58 vokey. That’d be a great forgiving but player looking set-up imo😊
@@nikmc7539 that’d be a solid set up. But the t200 have plenty of pop for me. My 4i and 7w overlap distances a bit. I hit the t150 recently they seem a tad more forgiving than the t100s
Forgive my ignorance, but could you explain this idea. I understand using more forgiving clubs for lower irons because they’re harder to hit, but why use blades for PW and 9i instead of the more forgiving clubs? Thanks in advance.
Do these 620's still have the "pre worn" sole like the 716/718 versions? I really like that. CB's are offered by numerous brands and they are all definitely "retro" in appearance, any tech is hidden. Taylormade will release a P7CB hopefully soon, been seen wearing a Prototype badge. Cool stuff
I have a mint set of 690.mb and they may be 20 years old but they look brand new and look as good or better than most new MBs. Titleist iorns are classic and traditional like always.
Every hollow body looks the same too. They all play similarly. I feel like at this point the only difference is which looks the best to u & which brand do u want to spend money on
The Titleist Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360s are my favorite grips. Unfortunately, the black and white is reserved for Titleist, and my bag has mixed colors because of it.
Black and White are the normal colors, grey and white are the Titleist reserved colors. I have a Titleist TS2 hybrid with the custom grey version of the grip and I loved how it looked
Rick, y'ever feel a grip, like this here Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 White & Black compared against the standard, that just feels different?? I swear Golf Pride has made the Wht/Blk 360 feel just a bit nicer and more... velvety?? Many of my clients opting for these. I know, on the one hand you think, "No way can there be any difference between, for example, a Stargrips Blue Sidewinder & a Stargrips Black Sidewinder... however manufacturers like this publish weight specs and there are differences... so there's something to it??".
One thing I’ve always wondered is if you’re using the CB, why not just use the MB? I don’t think you’re losing much either way. I just think Titleist just have this cult following with the CB. I do like the 4-5 year cycle of irons. There’s just simply a glut of equipment and manufacturers.
Magical irons don't exist...it's how you feel at address and the confidence they give you. A perfect example is Rick saying the Bridgestone ball is the best he ever tested... but he still plays a Titleist. It's about how they make you feel and the confidence they give you.
Rick could you take a look at golfworks irons. Several models and price options plus custom assembly. Still look forward every week to you testing equipment.
Yes! I want to see Ping Eye2s vs a modern forgiving iron (ideally that doesn't have totally jacked lofts). I still loan my dad's old set that I inherited to beginners as I think they are pretty easy to play with.
Me too. Played them for years and years. That would be a great review. I saw a used set of Ping Eye 2's at Edwin Watts yesterday. They were $89 for the set. I damn near bought them just for the hell of it.
You should, thats exactly what the T100 and T150 clubs are designed for. Tries to accomplish the same goal as this iron but with more forgiveness due to the added tungsten at the bottom. People that prefer the CBs are typically looking for certain feel or ballflight differences due to the CG, and the CBs might have a different sole as well for turf interaction
To me, they are more forgiving than p790's that i tried to play. at least with 620cb's when i hit a 7i out of the middle its 185 on the dot, off the toe and its about 175. p790s its 220 out of the middle and 190 out of the toe. forgiveness is consistency, and these clubs are more consistent than any of the hollow body "forgiving" irons out there imo.

I had the MB for a bit, but the CB escaped me somehow. Really hard to get a used set, which is usually a good gauge for how good clubs are.
Srixon mk 2 review please
They hold their value on the second hand market as well
Im still using my Taylormade CGB Max R7 irons from 2008 and love them.
it is forgiving, but for people who play blades.
Got a set of 690.CB in the bag still that I got on 2003. Still look great!
I would love an updated review of the Mizuno JPX 923 HM and HM Pro
Just as they are about to release a new version?

Had a set of dci 990 irons a long time ago they were unbelievable irons
My first new set of clubs when I was 12 I had saved up enough money washing carts to buy the 990s. And I bought the Ping isi driver 😂
Loved the dci clubs. My dad gave me his old set as my starter set. Then my car was stolen with them in the back :(
I had a set and thought they felt like hockey sticks.
@greigseavill629 they certainly weren't soft feeling irons I just liked the shape and size of the head and the ball flight

You got rid of the T100's but thought about the CB's? Those are just one notch away from a blade.
I don’t feel like those lofts are weak, that’s what I play. And I definitely hit it further then those #’s
I love the vids and would love to see you review the golfboy launch monitor app
Are they anything like the P7MC’s you used to play?
Whats the point in these when you have the T100?
I like weak clubs. A 43 9 iron I can hit 160-165 so it works for me. I’m playing the p7mc’s and loving them
To think it’s just the club and not the player that wins these events is outrageous! Not saying these are not but it’s always the player first!
