The brush is a monster! Nice looking shave, but weird that the Astra green gives you a reaction whilst the persona platinum do not, maybe your technique has changed now so they may be different. I personally am not keen on Astra green but I used to love them
Hehe... Yes the TTTO took some practice. ;O)
The Astra Green and the Voskhod blades both give me razor burn, rash and razor bumps. I'm sure my technique has changed and maybe even improved a little, but every time I try them the result is the same. Maybe It's a thing in the wax glue that I react to. But not to worry; I'm dedicated, so I have 1000's of other blades to use!! ;O)

#1. I have that EXACT same nickel colored 1938-1945 Fat Handle Tech and I like it quite well! This said, I apply the same attitude towards its blade gap as I do to blade sharpness; I don't pay any attention. The Pre WWII Tech shaves well. Its 1946 Gold colored "Contract Tech" Sibling shaves equally well. The ultra mini/super short handle Gillette Tech included in the Travel Pak 1960s or 70s branded travel kit shaves with the same completeness and comfort. Thus, I repeat; I don't pay attention to the endless babbling of wet shavers about how well something shaves(or how differently when the comparison tool is virtually or essentially identical). Please understand that is not a reflection on your comments; I am referring more to Facebook group people.
#2. I envy your having an orange scented soap. I really like the scent of oranges and would definitely enjoy it in a lather but I don't have any such soap so that's that. That's a Fact Jack. ;-)

I fact I've started collecting Ball End Techs. I want one from each of the countries it was ever made in. I have Usa, England, France, Germany and Mexico, so far. I know of three more countrires at least that they were made in: Brazil, Argentina and Canada. Condition and box is not important I have plenty of tech in prime condition. Having them all is waht is fun here... You know me; I'm dedicated. ;O)
As to babbling about how a razor shave you got me!! I love to babble about stuff like that; and I like for others to babble to help me decide whether or not a product is worth giving a go...

We are having a hot time in Canada right now. A "heat dome" has settled in the west of Canada and the USA. With the humidex it is high 40's Celcius. Here in the east in Ontario it is 25-30 celcius. But with the summer solstice past the days slowly get shorter again; winter is coming!
Sounds like a very hard time for you. I wouldn't mind 20-25 C. But 40 C would kill me!!
@@SIGSOLO Yes; not easy for the people in the west going through this period. Lots of forest fires, evacuations. Climate change is a real thing. I bet you have seen climate altering in Greenland too.

Do you have Royal Lime from the GFS? It has a stronger scent. The word you're looking for to describe the scent is 'zest' of the orange 🍊.

The FH Tech is a great razor!! I can understand why people don’t buy them left and right. On the other hand if demand was high it would become expensive….

Not many soaps can pull off the orange peel scent really well, hopefully that was a good execution of it. Razor Emporium also has a citrus scented soap that has a very convincing orange peel scent.
I'm no expert when it comes to describing scents. But But Ornage peel being scratch giving it's fragrant oils is what I got... Not sweet but kind of bitter-ish...
However I wasn't impressed with the scent strength in this one. I know you like them to the stronger side, like me. Cannot be too strong...

A thought I just had, how did your skin do did you have any reactions? You said during the video that you were allergic to oranges correct? Did you get a rash or anything?

Not that many (if any) Canadian Ball End Techs around. Most of them are fat handle techs...

Greetings Sig, and I hope you are well. I came across this video and had to watch it because I just recently purchased one of these razors and absolutely love it. I really love the fatter handle that makes it easier to hold for me, and the razor shaves mild... very smoothly while being very efficient. Works great with my Personna Comfort Coated USA Blades and the Gillette Platinum Blades, as well as the ASTRA Platinum Blades.
I've never tried the ASTRA Blue Blades, do you find them as sharp a d smooth as the Platinum Blades? If so, I will have to pickup some of those to try.

I'm delighted to hear that you like your FH Tech.
They come with three different gaps .020'', .25'' and .030'' and in about 100 different versions... But I love their shave! (I'm not sure which are which regarding the gap, but Tobins_Throwbacks made a vid about them some months back - it's in my 'Tutorials & Tips' playlist). The general rule is the older the bigger the gap; I think.
Astra SP are no-go for me. I get rash, burns and bumps... Like with the Voskhod blades. Something in their coating...

@@SIGSOLO Not sure how, but seller said mine Fat-handled Tech is 1940s. And I will check out the video you referenced. Thanks… always like to learn all I can about my razors.
I remember our conversations about the ASTRA Platinum Blades. I have allergies and react to certain products and things. One blade I use cause me trouble is Feather Blades… on the second use it cause my skin to get red and irritated. It was a red rash and it burned. But it was not razor burn, it was a fine rash, like if my skin was sun burned. I gave a different blade a try a few weeks later and the same thing happened. At first I didn’t think the blades were coded but later I learned that they are platinum coated. So far that’s the only blade that gave me an issue.
I also am allergic to Alum Blocks. I actually break out in hives all over my body. Had a severe allergic reaction and actually required a hospital visit.
It’s good you put this out so people can be aware. Each person is different and reacts differently. What works for me may not work for others, or in this case causes a health issue.
