I remember my family members told me stories about how the occupation affected my ancestors.
My great grandfather (P) succumbed from his injuries from a bomb shrapnel on the second day of CNY in 1942,
my great grandmother’s(M) first husband was taken away by the Japanese and was never seen again,
and my late grandfather (M) disliked the Japanese during the occupation but he later gave up his hatred after sometime after the war.
I found it important to know how much my ancestors have struggled during the Japanese occupation and I thought this would be worth sharing.

Indeed. This has to be distributed around the world as we now know that many have begun to forget, and the loss of these tragic memories is regrettably part of the reason why Brexit has happened

Glad that your late grandpa was able to let his hatred go. Indeed, the last thing we all want is a repeat of these unfortunate events

You always touch the heartstrings, Ervin, but this one is exceptional! And the subdued colors and stark lines (which seem so oddly out of place in your work) really emphasize the bleakness of your tale. But I understand. My father-in-law was a Filipino who joined the US military to fight the Japanese invasion of the Philippines. He was captured and tortured, but survived. And, like other Filipino veterans, he was denied the US citizenship that was promised for his service (the Philippines being a US territory at the time). I really admired him, and miss him.

This animation features the sombre mood so well, backed by an apt musical score, which reinforces the significant message it has to tell. A great addition to Singapore's WW2 memorabilia !

Perhaps can consider continuing the narrative after the main character was screened by the Japanese soldiers ?

Good animation work and poignant. The last quote by LKY resounds more now as Singaporeans have failed to defend this and lost; we have allowed other people to come, smack us down and take over economically. We Singaporeans have become 2nd class, extinct like dinosaurs in our own country. Just take a trip on the MRT on Sundays and you'll see what I mean. Livelihoods handed over on a golden platter to "other people". Is this what they sacrificed their lives for? National service failed!

what are you implying? what are you saying by we allowed other people to smack us down? by we are ‘extinct like dinosaurs in our own country’? what kind of logic is this?
