When they said 80s music But they meant 1480s.
Hahah great point there
1380s. In the 1480s they had already the first kinds of cembalos and violin ancestors.
@@acmenipponair You learn something new every day.
@@acmenipponair Yeah the Renaissance was kicking off by 1480 which was the bridge between the medieval and early modern periods. So 1380’s would be more appropriate.
@@86thrasherYes, don't forget some songs from the 1530s you still sing in church, like "Vom Himmel hoch, da komm ich her" by Luther.
I felt it necessary to leave this here:

Where the fugawi?
This is actually perfect for a D&D session.
You're all meeting in a tavern for the first and one song on this playlist is playing, what would it be for your campaign?
Africa, hands down, it's a perfect song for an adventure. The tempo, chord progression and vibe is just right for a campaign! If it's combat, however, the local bards would be playing Eye of The Tiger, it's a fight song after all!
Brilliant!
80's rock and D&D! It's all the found memories of my teen years in one package!
This was legit my first thought, love it so much.
I've needed this for about 600 years
Haha good point! Thanks for the comment
Were you in Interview with the Vampire? :)

And this exact video is... why i have such a hard time to tell others when i get asked what music i listen to.
Fo real. That's how I was. Now I just tell them. Normal is brainwash mk ultra slave prison
I think it's called "Bardcore"
Try explaining Dwarven Heavy Metal to them.
I like any genre turned into any other genre.
@@HideyHoleOrgexplain.... What? Oh boy, yet another addition to my search history and playlist that I can't listen to without having people look at me weird, lol
Dude, the flute player is going hard on these tracks.
Hello, thanks for the comment!
You said hard on. Uh huh huh, mhm huh huh, uh huh huh. That was cool.😆
@@egrintarg230 Oh wow, I didn't even notice that! Nice.
this one time in the bards camp.
and the lute! lol
The real story is the plot twist here. A time traveler came from the 1489 and was passing out his music to 1980’s artists
Haha, exactly!
As is the future so is the past just in a different adaptation.
It would have to be a traveler from 1479, passing on their works to be shared over the next coming decade.
Cool 😂
Ummmm yeah 👍
I'm GenX and this was my coming-of-age music. I've seen what ill the internet has done to society but every once in a while, someone does something so cool and wholesome that I have a glimmer of hope for the future. This is one of those things!
Oh, great to hear your thoughts, thanks so much!
Well said! Really love this!
i concur
The internet is fine, it's a home for introverts, for people who are stuck in remote places and for people who were pushed out of belonging to a group because they were different in some way. Making friends and spending my life online definitely beat growing up ostracised in an anglican school for being a quiet, shy guy.
As a millennial I grew up under gen-x and generally speaking, all your generation did for us was mess up our housing market to a point most millennials and gen Z won't ever afford homes, and also raised half of us as outcasts and the half as those who relentlessly bullied sed outcasts growing up. You had some good music though
@@Shinobi_Fox And here we have it again: victim blaming. It's all what many people nowadays can do, especially the younger generations (now I sound old LOL). That's why so many people do not get anywhere, because they give everyone else the fault for all of their first world problems they face. Take up some ownership, some responsibility, stop complaining and do something useful with your life. It somehow doesn't surprise me why everything gets more and more woke nowadays. This is the symptom of a society which gets more and more fragile.
I cannot afford a house either, do I blame others for this? Shall I do it like you and blame the baby boomers? Come on...
The system is far from perfect, I agree...there is still room for a lot of improvement, but do you complaining (usually left orientied) people realize, we live in a time where we have it better than ever before (especially in the western world)? There was never a time everything came so easy to us. Maybe because everything is so easy and so comfortable, we complain more than ever?
By the way: I am in introvert too, I was bullied too as a child, I didn't have many friends either back then, but I never (not even as a small boy) had the need to be part of a group to feel good about myself or to have a self-identity. Over the years I learned to socialize and show extrovert traits where needed. I would argue, the bullying I faced, made me mentally rather stronger and made me see things from another perspective, compared to others who were never bullied. There are some healthy life lessons one can learn, if not everything always runs smoothly, easy and according to plan. We need to face uncomfortable situations, lose and fall on our face to grow (and grow some thicker skin). If everything is always nice and happy one stays fragile.
Have a thought about my reply and maybe frame your life a bit differently...can make a big change! ;)
Interesting how the music still keeps its 1980s essence, no matter what
Thanks, glad you liked them

Lol, that might have sth to do with the fact that there is absolutely nothing medieval whatsoever in those versions ... even the instrumentation doesn't even come close.
@@papillonlune1 maybe so but uts good enough for me! Lol
It might not be "real" medieval music but who cares??? Close enough rite?
That's mainly because you've heard the original dozens of times before and it's still stuck in your head. In your heaa-aaaad, in your hea-yi-yay-head. In your head, in your head, in your head-head-head
I wonder what the Medieval people would think of it if a band travelled back through time and played this in inns and taverns...
They would probably think it's from some strange foreign savage/tribal country with all the pounding drums and whatnot.
I think it would sound as alien to them as the original 80s songs, because these are mostly note-for-note recreations of the songs with acoustic instruments, the song structures and melodies remain unchanged, and some mainstays of medieval instrumentation are notably absent.
you would be burned at the stake for witchcraft.
They would think like what-a highland banging sounde, ya? Stoppe that, long hair minstrels, go back where y'all came fromme. Sing to hills and thickets, not to good christians
There was some secular music, but most of what they listened to was religious. They'd probably have mixed feelings about "Running up that hill" and making a deal with God if the lyrics were added back. 😄
When Bill and Ted go back in time and teach the common folk 80’s music. 😅
Would be most excellent!
Did they date King Henry the Eighth's daughters?
But I do not believe we will ever have a truly righteous medieval troupe unless we can get Steve Perry
I don't think Bill and Ted listen to this many genres. It would probably be all punk songs.
I love the band Wilde Coursers!
Finally i found this Playlist again after 600 years!🤲🏻
Here it is.. Glad you like it!
The 1380s is an underrated decade.
True true, thanks for the comment!
This would have inspired me to go in search of the holy grail. If I had been plowing my field and heard "Careless Whisper" performed by passing minstrels I'd have broken down crying on the spot.
Hello, thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I skipped through the others to listen to Careless Whisper first. Brilliant.

Dancing around a fire to this, kicking up dirt with a few friends under the moon. So glad I found this!

I'm not sure how I feel about this. While listening, I keep seeing Robin Hood wearing parachute pants and a fanny pack doing the running man. 🤣
Hahaha, sounds pretty fun to me! Thanks for the comment
"A horseless Chariot?"
"No man, this is a DeLorean"
"A Del-what what?"

Algal and the Bards are a feature in my Eberron campaign, influencing the downtrodden masses of Sharn to rise up against their opressors. It's all over the front page of The Sharn Inquisitive! The riots have been goin on for days! The Dark Lanterns will have to do something soon!
Total Eclipse of the Heart sounds way better than I thought it would. 3 in the morning and I'm rocking it to the ye ole, oldies.

Such an imagination! Thanks!

Hi hi, thanks!
I swear I once had a dream in which I listened to a young girl in a medieval tavern doing Eurythmics numbers with a minstrel band. To this day I can't listen to Annie Lennox without longing for shawms and psalteries. You had my hopes up there. **sigh**
Ah, what a marvelous dream you've shared! Thank you for gracing us with your tale, and may your longing for those whimsical tunes lead you to new musical adventures of your own. 🎶🌌

Not exactly the same but Dungeon Synth is a thing

10/10 for creativity. What would make these songs really go medieval would be to use real instruments. A la what Mannheim Steamroller has done on some of their recordings. You have the perfect template for an album people would buy if you could go the real instrument route.
